What, exactly, have I got wrong, kinyara? I started this thread middle of 2019 because restaurants and bars were closing regularly, and whilst I never meant the "well run favorites" I also didn't mean the ones owned by dreamers for 6 months. Some 8 months later, basically, the whole world closed due to covid. That saw a lot of restaurants and bars close permanently, but that's not what this thread was about, because I started it way before covid. Since covid, Tree Town was built, and Soi Baukhao and side sois, have gained in popularity, I would suggest due to lower prices, but this is debatable. Are there more people coming here, or has the popularity of Soi Baukhao, and surrounds, come at the expense of other sois? With covid all but finished, thank Buddha, and we look to 2019 numbers returning, what about all the restaurants and bars that were closing in 2019, and the reason I started this thread? Has whatever caused many closures back in 2019 simply gone away? With a global recession a near certainty in 2023, no Russians in the foreseeable future, and China locking in their slaves, do you see it as having no impact at all on Pattaya and businesses here?

But you are their target market. An "onboard experience" is for everyone, is it not? ???? Where were their business credentials on the first route? What happened to their "business plan" on that route? ???? Not negative. I just question their "business credentials." They would not be the first people to come to Thailand with big money and big dreams, only to see the dream turn into a nightmare, and to lose a lot of money. I am all for options and choice here, and for those that would use this service, I hope it survives, and wish them all the best, but in my opinion, I think it will struggle, thus, be unsustainable.

I just checked the flight status at Utapeo Airport, today being the 10th. No international arrivals from Vietnam listed at the time of this post. I would also be interested in this route, if you can confirm with your friend.

How many people "move" to Samui from Pattaya? If you are going to Samui for a week, it's cheaper and quicker to fly and hire a motorbike.

At some stage someone is going to have to start looking over their shoulder here. A lot of money was already lost on the initial route, and again with the new fit out and new route. Someone will feel aggrieved.

You don't have to gamble. One can go to a casino for the restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclub.

Looks like it's only a matter of time before we see casinos in Thailand. There are a lot closer than I originally thought.

Do you have a link for this? If what you posted is correct, then casinos are closer than I thought, and yes, I agree, they will just go ahead and build mainstream casinos catering to all budgets.

I wish you well with the project. As another member said, Pattaya to Koh Chang, even with a smaller boat, would have been a winner. I would have used that service many times.

Sure, but the Thai authorities may start small and exclusive to show casinos do not cause social harm to the Thai public, and then open the door to mainstream casinos. Or, they could just declare casinos legal and mainstream casinos start appearing.

Why would you be so amazed if / when they allow casinos? May other countries have them, including Thailand's neighbors.
