Honda and Toro all day every day. If you're really well heeled then John Deere also make superb movers from small hand pushed to ride ons. I was a professional landscaper way back and had a maintenance division in my company so I can speak from daily use of such machines. You can buy Chinese parallel versions under the Toro brand but they use thinner gauge metals in the body, poorer chrome etc and won't last as long so false economy in my books to the full priced versions. If you're getting on and don't look forward to the humid work of pushing your mower invest in a self propelled - worth every dollar spent. The old adage is; if you buy cheap you get what you pay for. Also electric start is a good idea if you're getting older and still want to be able to garden.

Like many other long term visitors and retirees to LOS have said to this post enquiry; NEVER been asked to show the money. I've visited multiple times year since 2009 (both on tourist visa-on-arrival and home-country acquired 60 day tourist visa). I have NEVER been asked nor seen ANYONE EVER asked to show the money. I have had money on both savings and credit cards all the times I entered LOS but had only a small amount of Baht on me when landing. Now as a retiree, living here, who travels in and out of LOS (sometimes as much as 4 or 5 times a year some years) I never even think of carrying Baht cash to that amount in or out of LOS. If you look like a vagrant maybe they'll ask you. If you're showing some signs at I.O. presentation that trigger them to enquire deeper into your reasons for coming to LOS, or maybe if theres a flag in your passport electronic profile that alerts I.O. to something else they might ask you.

Aussie; Land of the Worlds most venomous and deadly snakes. Aussie St Johns Ambulance procedure: Wrap the limb from the wound upwards firmly (tighter than say a bandage for a cut or puncture injury - should not be able to put your finger under the bandage). Use anything at hand to do this like a few t-shirts ripped into strips. Have someone calling for the ambulance immediately while others bandage the victim. If in LOS I'd put them in a car and take them to the nearest clinic or hospital - Response times being what they are. A clinic is better than the place they're bitten even though they may not have antivenin they have nurses, CPR experience, and defibrillator machines, intubation gear, which if you get a full blown strong or repetitive bites (some snakes do strike multiple times) rather than a reflexive fright-bite (often little to no venom in this type of bite) and you're are a far away from a hospital you just might need. If pressure bandages are at hand and you have more than one, then wrap a bandage around the wound area first and quickly and up the limb as a start then bandage over that with a second bandage right up the limb as far as the bandage will go even around and over the shoulder as an example of an arm bite. WASTE NO TIME IN WRAPPING THE WOUND!!! WRAP THE LIMB AS IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING BITTEN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! If bitten on the buttocks or trunk apply a pad and constant pressure on the general area of the bite. Just as in the case of assessing if a person is breathing or not and needing CPR ... the bandaging of a snake bite must take absolute priority. Don't mess around talking or trying to wander about looking for the snake to identify it. If you fear the snake may be still close then pick the victim up and move them calmly but quickly to a safe place. Do NOT clean or wash the wound (medical staff will swab the bite area for venom traces). Move the victim as little as possible. If possible carry victim to the means of transport. Keep the victim as calm, still, and as quiet as you can. As venom begins to take effect it may be necessary to work at keeping the victim calm and still. If the bite is on the legs or arms keep the limb below the heart. If you're in LOS and know the snake is highly venomous e.g. a Malay Viper or A Green Viper and the time to medical experts is going to take time then be prepared to administer CPR should the patient go into cardiac arrest (don't talk that in front of the victim!). If its a spitting cobra not a puncture wound wash the eyes with copious amounts of water (can use milk) make sure they don't ingest the flushing water as it contains venom. Monitor vital signs. Keep the victim still and quiet ... this means talking too! And be thankful your not in tiger, taipan, or king brown territory !????

If you indeed want to stay for years and years without visa runs, or restrictions on leaving and reentering the country (up to a healthy limit that is) and are under 50 then a marriage, or an Elite or a work visa are your only options that satisfy your desire for long unhindered (within reasonable certainty) stay. I'm an Elite holder and know from experience Elite will assist you with everything they can and facilitate the smooth passage to an Elite being granted you and be of great service if you are willing to pay for this type of visa. They can give you options and advice in extending somehow for another 30 days till the Elite is granted because 30 days or so left on your current permission to stay is getting close. If you have no overstays (1 is ok, if 2 and you will be rejected, Thai I.O. electronic record) then you should be sweet to get an Elite pretty quick. I know people rail against this (expensive?) visa but, (preference and application is a subjective matter). As others have said here if one takes the time to compare and contrast to costs of living in ones home nation, the time and effort to cross borders AND the uncertainty of such short term manoeuvrings of the Thai visa system, add to this the considerable perks that come with some of the Elite visas (20 year in particular) and it becomes worth it if you have the funds to pay. The perks associated are very good, and easily retrievable. Should you be one who wishes to take advantage of these perks you will recoup the cost of the visa and have a hefty chunk of change from the initial cost of the visa at the 20 year mark.

Yep I vouch for them too. A few mates have taken watches for servicing e.g. winder stem o-rings, lubrication, cleaning, and amplitude adjustment to them and swear by them. They can do any watch. But, if you've got really expensive Swiss watches e.g. Rolex or L & S be very careful who takes the back off as any warranty may be invalidated if not a licensed service agent for the brand in question.

A lovely large shade tree to grow but slow fruit (5 to 17 years) but once established and shaped well as it grows a beaut tree for a large garden. Makes a good 'swing tree' candidate for the kids.

I'm uncertain if this item qualifies under 'personal belonging' ... Re: one off importing for retirees of their home contents and personal belongings ... is free of any import tax/duty. The reason you may not be able to is such an item may be construed as related to a business venture and therefore disqualifying it under the terms of you retiring here. If you disassemble it and wrap pack it amongst other large household items and ship it maybe it will pass?! To qualify for this one-off import of personal goods for retirees you have to have your retirement visa in place prior to the container you fill arriving on Thai shores ... and show this visa etc with inventory of container contents for customs to be granted this one-off duty-free importation. I'm not sure of which retirement visa you are going to entrain O or OA but know that you MUST HAVE your retirement visa in place BEFORE you can import the personal belongings FREE of any import duty. I'd contact Thai Customs and ask.

I write here as a long experienced mental health clinician out of a deep concern for the American people and indeed for the world. The responses from the right has/is generally speaking horrific, with some infrequent exceptions e.g. Mr Doocy on Fox and Friends calling out a seditionist big-liar senator (excuse me I forgot his name). From the left (or perhaps more 'centralist' is a less propagandist and realistic nomenclature) has mostly been less hysterical and for the majority of feeds based in fact and legal truth. I have seen some sensationalist and over-reach by some 'so-called' leftist fake media' (MAGA label) reporters but by-and-large there seems to have been little cult-like process in the mainstream. If one were to NOT listen to the plethora of actual security, highest level ex-government agency bosses, constitutional and security legal senior (many lifelong Republicans serving multiple Republican Presidents) experts interviewed who have ACTUALLY held positions dealing with and completely cognisant with these very types of docs, the specific rigid defined procedures in their handing etc, and the laws pertaining to same, but only listen to extremely compromised people such as McCarthy, and the rest of the usual group of politician sycophant suspects. All buoyed up and complicit with the constant loudspeaker drone of Fox and other anarchy propagandist outlets. Then it is understandable and predictable how many gorge themselves on such poison and dwell in delusion, thus moving inexorably towards the edges of their own sanity.
