  1. I am not at all saying it happened here, but I have had a baht bus driver deliberately try to make me fall while I was getting on the truck. It was pretty clear that it was intentional in the way he jerked forward and then braked the truck. He almost succeeded. I had had no interaction with him prior to that. I assumed it was due to him being in some kind angry mental state and did not make an issue of it and walked away. The memory has stuck with me for many years though.
  2. True finally wired my building for fiber and I will upgrade from my 50/20 connection. Does it really matter if I get the 500Mbps or the 1 gig? All I care about is increasing the speed of my torrent downloads, but is there a difference in how international pages load? Thanks. Also, True throttles my torrent downloads pretty severely on the 50/20 plan, unless I use ExpressVPN then I get close to regular download speeds. Do they throttle your fiber optic connection also? I suspect it depends on the location.
  3. OK. I'm not looking for a fight. I'll take your advice and drive with caution. 🙂
  4. Interesting defense of that lunacy. I was surprised because I don't live here regularly.
  5. I went through that intersection several times and also noted how dangerous that lane closure was. Even coming down Sri Donchai towads the moat the cars coming directly into my lane or waiting to was quite a shock. What a strange decision not to provide any warning!
  6. I am sure they will eventually be reaurfaced, only to quickly be torn up again. I am not saying why, I'm just saying...
  7. Too true!
  8. They just get worse and worse! However, I'm not bitching about the Thais. I have definitely been to cities in the USA with worse roads. Everywhere I rode today it was bumpity bump on my 20-year-old Honda Wave.
  9. I didn't realize it was that easy. Thanks.
  10. I'm thinking of renting a Airbnb in Hillside 4 for a couple of weeks and I have a question for someone that lives there or used to live there or visited there. 🙂 Is the only way to enter the parking lot with a motorcycle off of Huay Kaew road? Seems quite difficult if you're coming from the moat direction? Any major construction going on inside or outside the building? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to look. Was the company called Borderfree? I bought some Hanes briefs from them a few years years ago. I forgot all about them. I think what happened was I ordered from the Hanes website and they use Borderfree for international deliveries. 12. My boys need a house!
  13. Lazada was absurdly overpriced, but Amazon was 950 baht for 9 pair including shipping. Which is reasonable. I was just hoping to find locally again
  14. Better last line: Seems like all the men's briefs sold in Thailand take the word literally and hug my hips like a desperate lover.
  15. Where can I buy the tighty whiteys I have been wearing for the last 60 years? (Not the same pair.) In the past I have occasionally found them at export shops as they are manufactured in Vietnam and Bangladesh but I had to buy them from Amazon this time. Central used to sell Hanes briefs just like my Mama, god rest her soul, used to buy me, but, alas, no more.. Seems like all the men's briefs sold in Thailand take the word literally and hug my hips like a desperate drowning sailor. (I have no idea what I mean by that but you get the drift.... )
  16. Golf umbrella from Decathlon.
  17. I think you are thinking of Medicare Part B.
  18. Yes, it was for self-employment using Schedule SE. I did not submit any documentation and none is needed. Even if you were living in the USA you might receive income without the employer filing a 1099 form so it is not required. I hope it works out.
  19. Actually I am not sure about the residency requirement for green card holders. A little too technical for me.
  20. You are eligible for Medicare if you are a US citizen and over 65, however it does not cover you in Thailand. It is free if you have accrued the 40 SS quarters. The 5 year rule is for green card holders.
  21. Oh, that is worrisome! Hope it works out for both of us.
  22. Thanks for your suggestions. I will just wait and let the system progress as I have Thai insurance and was just hoping for Medicare next time I travel to the USA which won't be for another year or so probably.
  23. And why does the 90 day report need to be "approved" anyway? Wouldn't be that big a deal if it was just a reporting requirement. Oh well, I know the answer more or less..... Best not to go down that rabbit hole.
  24. Premium free Medicare, I mean, to be clear. What if I’ve worked, but not long enough? You can still get Medicare Part A coverage, even if you don’t fully meet the work requirement of 40 credits. Here’s what you’ll pay in 2024: If you have 30 to 39 credits, your Part A premium will cost $278 per month.
