I will guess so and it could be fraud also. Because on the first page they will ask you for your passport country and your place of residence and then tell you if e-Visa is available to you or not. Inside also, it will ask you for proof of your residence. If you lie, it is easy to check the veracity of that from your passport. Of course, I am not sure IOs will scrutinize it or not unless you have a long history of staying in Thailand and show up with an e-Visa from your home country after leaving Thailand for a few days only.

Yes, they should be legalized and educate them about savings, borrowing, etc. and let them participate in some type of savings scheme. -
Taking my wife on holiday to the USA
CartagenaWarlock replied to Chad91's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
She may have a good chance if she could convince the officer that there is a reason for her to return. She has her family, house, parents, husband, etc. And she would likely to return. -
Wise or swift
CartagenaWarlock replied to Harveyboy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Wise is not a bank. As they don't lend money, they don't have to insure your deposit and their is no risk of any bank run. However, If they go belly up, you could lose all your money in their custody. In the US, they are only a money transfer entity. -
Initially I was scared and confined myself in Thailand for two years but did not bother to vaccinated. When I reached USA, I wanted to get as many jabs as possible. The closest walgreen to my house was only offering Moderna. I took three jabs as prescribed. After that I decided no more for me. Should I take the fourth before I come to Thailand next week? I can get it tomorrow.

Chill out man. I was joking but it surely puzzled me why a tourist suddenly wants to invest 10 million baht in a Thai savings account/Thai bonds. If he is a serious investor, he could have gone to other investing forums or reddit groups instead of posting in this forum where crazy old people hang around all day to bash Thais. Chinese, Indians and now Russians and desperate people posting about border runs.

Changing Phone Battery at Samsung Service Center North Pattaya?
CartagenaWarlock replied to Jingthing's topic in Pattaya
My daughter's mother did it and she left the phone for one day and picked up the following day. And of course I paid for htat and it was 1,000 baht I think. -
Not sure which country you are in but why you want to buy thai government bond? Why not buy US treasury and ladder them, you will be making 4-5%. Or may be simply ladder US CDs that will also pay you the same amount. If you want to take more risk spread your money into some junk bonds that offers 8-10%. Real estate bonds offer 8-10%. 10 million baht is lots of money. You should be earning at least 4-5% with no risk. 8-10% with higher risks. How much does Thai government bond pays? Did you open the forum account just to ask this question? Are you an investor? Are you laundering money? Why sudden interest in Thai savings/bonds. Did you win a multimillion dollar lottery and don't know what to do with your money? Are you crazy? I simply don't get it.

Wedding Savings Stolen
CartagenaWarlock replied to The Fugitive's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
What is the point of posting this in this forum? When Thai police man has lost, how do you think a farang can him? Are you out of your mind due to smoking too much weed? -
In the US, there is hardly any small business owners except local restaurants where one cannot buy candies and the bill will be at least $20. Why I will pay cash and lose my 5% cash back (restaurants and hotels have the highest cash back)? Sometimes I use freelancing handyman whom I pay cash. If I call plumbing company, I don't pay cash. All gas stations and supermarket where one can buy candies are big chains. The only places who don't take credit cards are weed shops where I have to pay cash. Businesses see 20% increase in sales when they take credit cards. So, basically I am helping them. If they don't like it, they can stop accepting credit cards. In the US, I have not seen any business that don't take credit cards. May be hot dog/food street vendors but I have not bought anything from them in ages and they also don't accept credit cards.

Advantage of credit cards. 1. Money back on your charges (1-5%). 2. 100% Fraud Protection. 3. Using OPM for at least 25-days without paying paying interests. 4. From time to time 0% interest for one year on balance transfer with 3% charge. So basically it is 3% interest for one year. In the US debit card also provides fraud protection but money from your bank will be taken out immediately. Thought most big banks will refund the money promptly before they start their fraud investigation, some bank may wait for the investigation to conclude for paying your money back. I never use debit card. Only credit cards. In the US, I will use them even for buying a candy bar which used to be $0.50 but now at least $1.50.

Most big banks in the USA immediately return the money, freeze the card and send a new card. If they use MC/VISA network, by US Federal law, a consumer is not responsible for more than $50 of any fraudulent activities. Not sure about UK laws and UK banks. That is the main reason I never deal with any fintech financial institutions for keeping my money in their custody.

Tourist VIsa to Retirement Visa
CartagenaWarlock replied to FreddieMercury's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This involves Chinese mafia and their dodgy activities. When he was the immigration chief he was more interested in catching overstayers and street drug peddlers. I don't think he is interested in catching foreigners bribing IOs through agents for their stay in Thailand. -
Travel demand fuels a boom in Asia Pacific — in hotel rates
CartagenaWarlock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They are comparing expensive hotels also. I used to pay $60 for Sofitel during the Pandemic and now I checked in agoda it shows $170. Jasmine city hotel $40 vs $70 now. A cheap hotel like Grand President (closed during the Pandemic) is around $50 which was around $50 in 2019. Bangkok offers a variety of decent hotels at a reasonable price, unlike singapore where low cost hotels are 18 sqm and most probably Geylang neighborhood.
