These are called "breakthrough infections". They do occur, but  rarely. From UK research about 0.2% of people fully vaccinated

Is it 0.2% of all covid deaths? In the USA, some states like Maine have as high as 5% of all covid deaths are attributed to breakthrough cases. A state by state breakdown of hospitalizations and death among of breakthrough cases.

    It's all about tax money.

If it's only tax money, they can tax the e-cigarettes and It will increase revenues. I think there is an oppositions from the cigarettes manufacturers and they have not yet figured out how to make money from e-cigarettes. Just like in Las Vegas there is a opposition from casino industry to open sit-in marijuana smoking places because they have not figured out how to make money from those places yet.

Welp I guess we gotta let the dirty falangs back in.....lets just make sure we shake every last baht out of them thru scams and regulations

But nobody is forcing dirty farangs  to come to Thailand unless the said dirty farangs is forced by their strong desire to find a bride or orgies in Thailand. They can stay at home or go somewhere else.

I have a wealthy friend who's looking to come to Thailand for an extended stay. Is it possible for her to get vaccinated here if she has a tourist visa? She's thinking of applying for one of those extended tourist visas that have been promised. If the tourist visa isn't viable, what about one of those visas that can be acquired for a substantial sum?

So, she will be coming to Thailand unvaccinated and needs to qurantione. Which country she is from? Why she wants to get vaccinated in Thailand? Why she can't get vaccinated in her home country? I have not heard of anybody coming to Thailand for getting vaccinated. It is possible in private hospitals but I would recommend coming next year.

These tourists are going elsewhere now, and with the chinese not even on the horizon yet they need all they can get now not in 6 months

Tourists don't come to Thailand (except backpackers). Only bride seekers and orgy seekers come to Thailand. Unless all the places where brides and orgies available are open, not one "tourist" will visit Thailand.

  6. Herd immunity is impossible as evidenced with high vaccinated countries like UK, and Israel where 7-day average infection rate per million population is running at more 3,000 and death at more than 10. The only solution is to live with covid and set a baseline that the nation's health care infrastructure can handle. If anybody thinks a nation can achieve herd immunity, they are either living in a delusional reality or falling for Western media's propaganda. Western media after months of touting the achievement of their vaccine for herd immunity has started to realize the impossibility. UK is doing even worse than US where vaccination rate in the population is very low compared to wealthy nations and there is a strong anti-vax groups who are ready to lose their jobs rather than get jabbed.

Then you might not have learned to type with 10 fingers but you do know the keys by heart. I have been using computers since I was below 10 yea. I knew how to use a word processor and stuff like that before i ever learned the ten finger system. I was fast with 2 fingers but after having learned to type things really improved.

True. I use two fingers and don't look at the screen when typing. I look at the keyboard. The point being, if you are typing looking at the screen, it should not be problem what is on the keyboard (Thai and English characters). I am looking at the keyboard and I still don't have problem when there are two characters per key on the keyboard.

  8. I'm not sure what exactly what  thrill the OP is talking about? He claims money is not the issue still he gives example of some fish and cheap for 60 baht. Why can't he get the same thrill in his home country, presumably in England. What is preventing him from getting the same thrill in his home country. I have travelled to many places and got the thrill I wanted including staff that are banned in most places.

However, I found one difference is that prostitutes in most countries don't marry foreigners, let alone have babies with foreigners 30 years older than themselves. I'm 59 when I came to Thailand and immediately found a 19-year old sex worker from Poseidon to have my baby when I offered her a million baht. This attitude I have not found in any other places in the World

Here is a question? If one is already here and is a pensioner and can buy a new place of at least 250k USD, house or condo and then meets the annual requirements would they be considered for this plan, or because they are already here they would be denied.  Asking because if it is only for new folks then there is an inequality already.  I myself might be interested if I could qualify as I am thinking of buying a house that I would move to and keep my current condo in BKK for my children and friends to stay in when they visit.

I don't think there is any new or old folks. Any body who qualifies can get the visa and all the privileges, even if the person lived in Thailand for life using any type of visas.

I think the 12 months is standard for many places and the WHO. The covid 19 vaccinations are still relatively new compared to previous ones. The 12 months may change after there is more experience with their efficacy.

Free movements like before (pre covid days) are doomed for foreseeable future. I am fully vaccinated in September in the USA. I enter in march next year and leave in November next year. I am stuck again unless I get boosters. A nightmare scenario, in deed.

Only until 70% of the population if vaccinated with an ‘effective’ vaccine (i.e. not Sinpharm / Sinovac, but with Pfizer, Moderna - vaccines of >90% efficacy)

A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study published Tuesday found a hefty drop in effectiveness against infection from the delta variant from Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Among a group of thousands of healthcare workers, the vaccines fell from being 91% effective at preventing infection to 66% after delta became the dominant variant.
