  1. Some companies provide tax/VAT invoices, which comes in useful for accounting purposes if you're a Thai Co. Ltd. & pay tax - for Joe Doe ordering stuff, it's pretty useless. Nothing to do with spam, phishing, "Lazada f*çked up again" or any of that. Pretty straight forward business stuff. On a side note, it's absolutely useless to do COD, unless you don't have a THB charge (debit/credit) card. I've ordered tons of stuff; a few times what I received wasn't correct or broken, and I sent it back and always got the full payment returned within a short time. 100%.
  2. That's what https://www.energy.gov/ne/advanced-small-modular-reactors-smrs says. And if it's "roughly on time" like the F-35, it'll be mid-2050s.
  3. Actually no (at Jomtien tax office). I went there with a Thai person and we had a lengthy conversation with the person at the counter, explaining that my bank abroad "needed" my tax ID, and we were repeatedly told that unless I work here, it's a no-no. In regard to a bank savings account and deduction of withholding tax: yes, I heard from various people over time that it's possible to get it back. I didn't bring it up at the tax office.
  4. Thailand has at some point joined the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes and will carry out its first AEOI scheduled for 2023 (more here: https://home.kpmg/us/en/home/insights/2021/11/tnf-thailand-aeoi-actions-by-financial-institutions-expected-beginning-2022.html). Although not "there yet", a Swiss bank already asked of me this year to send them my local Thai "tax ID" - seemingly in conjunction with the above. Trouble is: you won't get a tax ID in Thailand unless you're actually paying tax (as in: legally, with work permit). Many countries give people based there (expats) such a tax ID, simply for the purpose of correctness and compatibility, so that you can fill in forms... Thailand won't. A buddy of mine wanted to get witholding tax from a paid-out pension back, and a local lawyer here "fixed" it for him (sorry, I don't have details, but he sucessfully reclaimed the witholding tax, which according to all the Swiss forms NEEDED a tax ID).
  5. Oh, you mean reefer madness, right? Has been proven to exist in 1938...
  6. RIP - but this accident apparently didn't have anything to do with "Thailand dangerous for motorbikes". Plus he didn't wear a helmet. There are ways of provoking death...
  7. The responses (okay, some of 'em) aren't old and tired, and the fact that one should follow local laws doesn't have an expiration date. The problem with people abusing the system is that it doesn't make it easier for the people who stick to the regulations but get bogged down by suspicions...
  8. Some geniuses listing items on Lazada (presumably same same on AliExpress) list items from actual vendors, including all pictures and blurbs, at 3x price!! They presumably buy cheap and sell expensive after people who don't compare prices and ratings order... Vermins!
  9. I needed one for a Non-Immi O, not when I applied for it at a consulate in Switzerland, but it was on the requirements list for when I did my first yearly retirement extention after 3 months. But that was quite a few years ago. A friend of mine who came to live in Thailand a few months ago needed to show it to the Thai embassy in Switzerland when he applied for his Non-Immi O.
  10. Despite the fact that your flight is shortly after midnight on 13th, and you go through passport control on 12th, it's the flight departure date/time that counts. I've been in that situation a few times, and was told by immigration to still do the 90-days report... It's correct that nobody checks 90-days when you leave the country. Still...
  11. Brilliant, thank you for the information! I've been searching for insurance requirements for returning Non-Immi O/retirement expats, but have yet to find an official source! Do you have one, or where did you get the 30-days information from?
  12. Who wrote this no-research, no-reality "article"? There are a whole list of non-gems that should be mentioned for various of the listed countries... Not wanting to be negative, but solid information before you decide to move to a country is what it takes, not a page filler.
  13. You're hovering in close vicinity of a defamation charge (555555) - says a Swiss.
  14. Be careful to buy an original SD card, and not a "me-too" rip off / copy! Industry sources have said before that some 60% of SD cards in circulation aren't "originals", which can mean showing way higher capacity than actually available (your computer will show you what the label shows, but that's not necessary the actual capacity), or low-quality gear in different clothings (etc. pp.). One way of making sure that at least the capacity is correct is to use a very small Windows app called "H2testw.exe". Google it, should be downloadable for free and is a standalone app (no installation). It writes a pattern to the SD card and subsequently reads it back, to see if all that was written is there - very simple, but very effective. What can happen is that some circuitry in the SD card is compromised, so that writing is never a problem, but anything that's outside the _actual_ capacity (say 8 GB) gets written inside the 8 GB, and thus overwrites what's already there. You won't notice until you're looking for a video/images that you know should be there, and they're not...
  15. If there were anything like journalism left in this world, answers to those questions would take up 2/3 of the "article" space. But unfortunately, what generally gets served is regurgitated regurgitates in order to generate ad views/clicks.
  16. Usually people who don't have 800k in the bank they can show...
  17. What a deeply scientifically proven statement. And they figured that one out just now??
  18. How did you manage to re-enter a date?? I didn't - if everything were to work as expected (don't laugh), there should be a pop-up calender that should let you choose year, month, day, except after the first time with a date too close to today, that doesn't work anymore. Entering the date as suggested (dd/mm/yyyy) doesn't work; trying to clear the field with the backspace key (standard procedure, right?) doesn't either - you have to tap & hold the field, choose "Select all" and then "Clear". I don't believe the level of ___________ where web programming in this country is concerned. It's just beyond description.
  19. I wonder what symbol(s) is/are in the insurance company's logo. Or what color(s). Goes a long way too... but we'll never even find that out...
  20. I used Kasikorn Jomtien branch before - correct: they'll write you the letter on the spot. But a number of times, I spent something like 2 hours waiting for a newbie to get it together... I changed to Krungsri (Central Festival), their rates were/are slightly better. They need 1-2 hours (through BKK) to get you the bank statement for Immigration. I changed banks in the middle of the pre-2-months period and simply showed the two bank books; no issue at all!
  21. I believe that any time - as far as Thailand is concerned. But I have my doubts where the European "ranking" is concerned... That's from personal experience.
