Just off topic a touch . The kids are in school near us ,  5- 15 year olds and there is a party across the road , 20 metres from the school playing field classrooms. There is singing , chanting , fire crackers going off , loud music being played , some of the kids are not even in class , they have gone over to the school fence to see what's happening......Just been told it is a party/function where people can go get their future read ( for a price ) .

So much for childrens education . This will go on for the next Two days.

    Great, are we invited? 555555

Oops! Mexican beauty queen shocks Thai Buddhists - and she hasn't even arrived!

The Miss Grand International Beauty Pageant has not even started but it is already mired in controversy.

That was assured after the Mexican contestant - shapely and vivacious Angela Yuriar - was pictured in a skimpy swimming costume alongside BUDDHIST IMAGES.

The pictures were taken before she came to Thailand and were snapped at a swimming pool where the images are a normal feature.

She quickly made her Instagram account private.

The pictures appeared on "Berng Nang Ngam" (gaze at beauty queens) a popular site on Facebook that is promoting the upcoming Miss Grand International 2020 to be held at Show DC Hall in downtown Bangkok on March 27th.

A post accompanying the pictures said that the beauty queen probably had no idea of the offence this might cause and would likely make an apology to explain things.

The beauty pageant will involve 14 day quarantine and Zoom technology reported Daily News who used the word "reverberate" in their headline suggesting trouble.

Ms Yuriar is listed as as an animal and nature lover in promo material.

Since the OP specifically mentioned the virus, I am not at all sure where Thailand's consistently high daily road accident fatality rates make any difference or are even relevant in calculating "how deadly this virus is" here, Scotland or anywhere else.

If correct, until yesterday approx. 29.000 cases referenced of what +/- 80 fatal......

For a year I had friends in the U.S. telling me how envious they were of me.  COVID-19 raging everywhere  there and very little here.

Now, almost all my US-based friends in my age group are posting online about receiving their second Moderna or Pfizer jab, while here there's no telling when we'll even start.  How things can change....

Still time to get back to U.S. and go complain over there how much you miss Th.... 555555

The fact of the divorce is irrelevant in this circumstance.

The simple fact is the fees have not been 100% paid and the Thai lady is making up her own rules.

With respect to inheritance -if -in more normal circumstances-one of the parties were to die -then then remaining party will own 100% of the apartment. This I read.

This  outcome will probably explain why the JPM insists that the Thai lady is responsible for 100% of the fees.

She or she /he have to pay 100%.

The whole situation relating to joint ownership of an apartment in a condo is not clear to me.

So for example if the apartment is 100 SqM. and the apartment is jointly owned Foreigner /Thai  is it a simple case of 50 SqM to each allocation -Thai /Foreigner?

    I digress.

I am convinced that the Thai lady has to pay 100% of all apartment related fees.

In the building where I live -in such circumstances -the electricity will be cut. It is illegal to cut off the water supply(overriding laws apply)

If  a co -owner  were to try to re-instate the electric power -then he/she would be in breach of criminal law. A matter for the police -in the extreme case.

OP, given the circumstances, wouldn't it be a better to just pay all of the bills at this stage, keep receipts etc, then settle up when the property is sold. She wont get far getting bills split 50/50 if they still go unpaid. As far as the Condo juristic is concerned they bill a condo, the ownership structure is irrelevant to them.

The Thai lady has bigger problems than half the condo fees, if the foreigner cant be found, the property wont be able to be sold unless both parties are involved.

I tend to agree completely with you, the more since not any potential buyer has shown up.....

I'm in the market for a new SUV (Fortuner or Pajero), here on Retirement visa. Plenty of funds for 30 or 40 % downpayment, and can easily manage the repayments,  but can't get finance approval.

Just wondering if those with more wisdom than me can suggest a way to get finance approved. Dealership finance brokers...no luck, and Bangkok Bank personal loan guideline say max age 65.

    Thanks for any ideas

If one is not even capable of subscribing a health insurance once over 65, how can you expect to get a loan??????

If you are a farang it does.....thais don't,  ir cant be bothered, to distinguish between nationalities.

If you are white then you are a farang.

Its just ignorant racism but the education system doesn't offer them open thinking.

Thats why black people are just called chocolate man/woman.

So sad but we should try to help them understand, poor little buffalo jockeys.

AHHHH. That's why Arabs are called Arabs. Now we know. Thank you for your wisdom.

My son is now 6 and in a few weeks he will have to do a test to get accepted into the local government primary school that all parents want their kids to attend.

He's attended the last 2 yrs at a mediocre fee paying school with Thai and Filipino teachers. A year ago I decided to pay for homeschooling via a quality/ expensive college based in a Western country. Its been so good for him and now he can read and write. Its been amazing to see him progress with reading.

I have been teaching him both English and Maths and noticed he doesn't like Maths- and actually he's not so crash hot at it either....

The wife now tells me that on the day of the test we have to choose either the EP or the Maths program. We can't apply for both which is so stupid. So if our son doesn't get accepted into the Maths program he doesn't have any chance for the EP program. He can still go to the said school but it will be in the schools generic class program. I'm worried about this as it probably will not be so good and no air con in the rooms.(but I need to investigate the facts more regarding this before making judgements).

My wife is ambitious and has her ego/ reputation to consider.... and wants our son to try for the Maths program as 'thats where the smartest kids go'. I worry that if he somehow gets into the program he will be at the bottom of the class and unhappy.

Alternatively he enjoys English and so confident and happy doing it. I suspect he would be at the top of the class. Its certainly the case at his current school where the teacher doesn't let him answer any questions anymore because he's one of the few that can do the work.

Im reaching out to any teachers on this forum to guide me a little bit on this matter. What should we do? Personally I think the EP classes would be the best for him and we could continue the private Maths classes on weekends part time. Maybe try in a few yrs to get into that top Maths class or whatever.

    Thanks

It seems to me that your wife's ego and ambition comes before the education of your child.....Maybe worth reconsidering everything.

The only reason she wanted me to have the phone.......wait for it....... was to find out where i was...... at anytime of the day or night...... I'm going back to dumb phones very shortly.......

5555555. My ex-wife knew better than me where I had spent the day, even without me having a phone....????

Is it illegal to have a jam... musicians who just come together to play?

Is it illegal to play at an open mic night?

Does it depend on the venue?

Does it depend on whether payment is made?

So, we had a Blues festival here in Pai recently... were the farang musicians all playing illegally?

If you play at an event say a wedding of a friend, are you playing illegally?

If you are a guest performer, are you playing illegally?

Whjere is the line or do authorities just make it up as they go along?

Has it become illegal to go to a Karaoke bar and sing along without work permit??????

I just read that people still have to go into quarantine after being vaccinated when visiting Thailand. I predict that not many people will visit Thailand the next year. People just do not have that many days available for holidays and they do not want to spend that extra money per person sitting in a hotel waiting to enter the country. They will go to another country with a more friendly entry regime. The hole idea behind vaccinating is to stop the virus spread and reduce severe illness. Although Thailand has proven the rightness of their strategy reducing the pandemic spread, the consequences for their economy are disastreus. The latter will continue if they keep on going that way.

Could possibly go to Nigeria or Saudi......55555555
