Western currencies seem to benefit from sanctions on Russia. Let’s keep this up, for that and for the sake of the beleaguered Ukrainians.

The good thing about having Russians stranded or otherwise in Thailand—they get an international perspective on events in Ukraine and elsewhere.

The young couple who perished, lived in a small house about 200 meters from us. They had two small children at home with grandmother. The victim had lost her 1st husband in a motorcycle accent a couple years ago. Life can be hard in Isaan. RiP good folks.

Heartbreaking—lost a young couple from the village next to ours. Have ridden this bus route many times. Death toll rising.

Most Americans would accept the occasional mean tweet—to open borders and runaway 40-year high inflation. Although living here in Thailand, at least we benefit from an inflation-adjusted Social Security income.

I get that. Washington needs to stop the spending immediately.. But which currency could replace the Dollar? The Ruble, the Chinese Yuan? Euro? Japanese Yen? At one time, the Pound Sterling was reserve currency, but it hasn’t faired too badly since.

Putin has amassed personal wealth to rival the oligarchs. Does that not also make him a Russian oligarch?

Thanks, but we seem to get by OK. Our government has its faults, we can see from afar. But we also see an inverse currency relationship—when the Rouble sinks—the Dollar rises.

If you watch Thai Television, along with advertisements—you’d think all Thai have pasty-white skin. Not even close to reality.

Looks like finally Germany has some stones. China is more a competitor, than a customer.

Would Thailand stay neutral if China invaded Taiwan? How about SEAsia?

Over the years, I have met and befriended a few Russians, some in the US and some in Thailand. Such a shame Vlad has ruined things. Russians deserve better.

Be nice to your expats. They pump millions of Baht into their neighborhoods every year. And we travel extensively throughout Thailand, often spending like drunken sailors. By the way, we’re not from Russia, China, India or Iran.

Best way to combat global inflation and lack of tourists—sink the Baht 50% or more. Trust me—more would come and more would spend.

Thai Baht swings wildly. Not only Russians get hurt. Safe to say tourism will suffer—again.

Take up sailing. Thailand has wonderful islands, beaches and bays to explore and enjoy. And you don’t need the finances of those Russian oligarchs, either.

Better yet, why doesn’t the CDC warn Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras about the dangerous Level 4 conditions in USA? They might stop surging the open border.

Best to keep your powder dry. Could see fire sale properties, yachts, cars.
