  1. Forgot to mention—you can find a much younger, more attractive gf or wife here.
  2. We saw picture of that strategic meeting between Xi and Putin. Only question: how will they divvy up Land of Smiles?
  3. And who might give them a better deal? Chinese farangs? Russian farangs?
  4. I just hope Thailand doesn’t pick a side on this—‘cause you know they’ll probably choose the wrong one…
  5. I too considered the Mae Pim area, and will probably return someday. To me, clean waters, small waves and steady winds matter most.
  6. Admittedly, plastic waste is the most visible and unhealthy and unsightly blight in Thai rivers and beaches. When I walk beaches, especially those with small rocks, I recover broken glass and rusty metal objects. Step on these while barefoot, it will ruin your whole day.
  7. Makes perfect sense to me. Go for the moneyed crowd—the ones who don’t care about a rising Baht. Mass market tourism just a pipe dream for TAT now.
  8. At least we know we have some options, living and loving in the Land of Smiles.
  9. True enough. Some older guys make a conscious effort to stay active and healthy to keep up with the younger Thai wife. ”Oh Ruby, don’t take your love to town”.
  10. Desperate ladies do desperate things. That’s why you can do better in Isaan.
  11. Sure, Thai women have strong family values, and can make a loyal, fun-loving wives. But they have something else—a lower standard of living (especially in places like Isaan). Who wants to live in a hut when you (and your family) can live in a mansion? Age gap marriages are common. And you see some real stunners here. If you’ve got some Baht—you might get lucky…
  12. Everything costs more when your currency falters. Sure had some faltering currencies lately. Good luck with that touristy dream, Thailand.
  13. Baht too high for buying real estate, unless you find highly distressed properties and or sellers. Otherwise, renting seems better
  14. Starting to get ugly now with the surging Baht. Here we go again.
  15. And don’t forget currency. Ten years ago, I came here as a tourist, considering places to retire as a single guy. You better believe I looked at currency (Baht much lower then).
  16. Virus hurdles and high Baht the one-two punch to tourism and the economy in general. Hope better days lay ahead.
  17. Actually, most big fish can travel far and wide, so sea bass or similar fish would pose no threat from oil contamination.
  18. And misery loves company. Baht vaults up, just when it looks like it should go down.
  19. Special deal on crab dinner—half price. And would you like some oil with your salad?
  20. You nailed it. Too many lured here by the easy lifestyle, and cheap living. Two things I never realized or counted on—rising health insurance and a rapidly rising currency. We all should draw the line when enough’s enough.
  21. Agree that’s the presumed response. So does that also mean self insure? Once you hit seventies, insurance companies don’t want you—and jack up premiums.
  22. In their myopic view, BoT sees keeping interest rates at .50 a prudent choice. In reality, things are different on a global scale. If an individual or financial house has lower of even negative interest rates in their home institutions—then stable Thailand might look good to investors @ .50. Can’t see the forest, for the trees.
