Too late for a lockdown, the virus is everywhere, due to the stupidity of people travelling for songkran, and Prayuts mob for allowing it to happen.

Except that first part is not true.

Yes, it’s everywhere, which makes a ‘shelter in place’, ‘limit contact as much as possible for the next month’, far more important, and eventually effective. This is the functionally prophylactic practice.

There’s no choice of feasible options. Sure there are ‘options’, but they won’t work.

    Agreed on the general stupidity.

A glaring  repeat of voting day and New Years. Both cases could have been avoided.
This one the cabinet ministers were out partying at ground zero, to congratulate themselves for stopping New Years outbreak in 3 month...

never mind eminent Doctors were giving clear and unambiguous public warnings.

No wonder the medical establishment is enraged now.  Yes, Anutin must go. Never was there a more rounded off tip of the spear.

    https://www.phnompenhpost.com/international/thai-virologist-breaks-down-why-private-sector-cant-procure-covid-19-vaccines

An extract from the above article 09/03/2021

"Thai virologist Dr Yong Poovorawan has stepped in to explain why private companies are not yet allowed to import Covid-19 vaccine to Thailand.

On March 8, the Chulalongkorn University professor responded via Facebook to people inquiring why private companies and hospitals could not procure their own vaccine.

He explained that the Thai and other governments around the world had registered Covid-19 vaccines for emergency use. This meant responsibility for any side effects from inoculation lay with the government, not the vaccine producers.

Therefore, Covid-19 vaccine can only be imported under the government’s contract.

Currently, vaccine producers will not negotiate with private purchasers who have no government authorisation.

However, Dr Yong said private companies will be permitted to export shots once Covid-19 vaccines are fully registered, with responsibility for any side effects passed to the producers."

Maybe the vaccine producers are reluctant to be held responsible for serious side effects and this is slowing down the process ?

    So, authorize them YESTERDAY~~~~

2 bottles and some bills. That´s a really good days work for the police.

Oh, by the way, they nabbed 4 musicians too. I have always told them to keep low key. Do NOT sing!

Anyway, I am happy to hear that they did not have some one playing with an organ on the scene. The most vulgar instrument a musician can play with.

    Do not sing!

Because if you get the lyrics right it’s a dead giveaway you are not a local Samui Thai rock band and subject to arrest for embarrassing them.

  5. Ganja or cannabis oil has been known to reduce nausea after during cancer chemotherapy treatments. If small amounts of THC in food at the hospital restaurant can aide in ameliorating post-chemo side effects, great.

And consider this is a start, the door opens a crack, and will open more in due time. It’s not dudes on street corners toking spliffs, it is for the medical

    benefits.

Negative pressure room.  I thought that a negative pressure room was only needed for those having breathing problems.  However, I just read up and found they are also used to isolate the pathogen and keep it from escaping from the room as well.  Seems that there is more to the story as this is being treated at the top most of precautions by the Thai's which if they are is a good sign they are doing the right thing but seem intensely concerned.

Negative pressure rooms is cat 3 or 4 contageons

Yes it is to keep it in. It also calls for serious wash downs after.

For Cat 4 (Ebola Marburg Smallpox etc) you must have fully sealed air supplied suits and go through three step decontamination on exiting.

see the film ‘Outbreak’ or Robin Cooks ‘Contagion’ or Discovery channel series ‘Invisible Killers’.

or Canadian film ‘Outbreak: Anatomy of a plague’,  for more visually presented factual info.

Let's hope we see the numbers start falling day by day. Please not another full lockdown like in April/May.

Need to speed up the vaccination program.

Gary better to be harsh now and stomp it down than wait or be wishy washy and we don’t block it from further transmissions. The time to ACT is now!!

They didn’t get it done after Election Day when people traveled, gathered in voting booths and went home and then back to work, and spread it around big time.

Now is 11-12  days later and those cases are showing. We need to stop cold those that have already retransmitted, and to stop all from doing it again. 2-3 weeks done right can bring us back to late spring again.

    The time is NOW!

  8. Well this spike clearly comes after voting day after the returning bar girl propagation last month, and everyone is supposed to vote and use the same few booths. So no surprise there is a rise now. Even if no migrants vote, they do interact with Thais daily.

In the west the Christmas rise peak is expected to hit right after the New Years parties, so expect a surge on a surge.

In Thailand there are 4 extra days for cases to show up after vote and before New Years, so maybe not as compressed an exposure cycle.

I know I am not going anywhere NYE and won’t be around friends who work that night until mid January.

And we should not exclude counting those with other conditions.

If they would have lived if they had not gotten Covid, then they are Covid Cases.

Just because they had other factors does not invalidate what tipped the balance and killed them.

Yes, it is sad that the 'government' seems to encourage yellow shirts to violence so that the police can respond in kind.

Quit a few yellow shirt protests have become violent andd the police do nothing.

Similar to the charade in ‘76. Clear bias, but a facade of deniability. Water canons fired on protesters, as long as not wearing yellow. Do they really think this is not seen.
