The record says they don't have your original record, and they recommend you go back to the hospital where your original hernia was repaired.

    Thanks for your input James26

Today I went to the local government hospital where I had the operation done.

I did go back to the original hospital where I had the operation done. They could not find my records.

I doubt your problems have anything to do with details of the surgery beyond that it was a hernia repair with mesh. More likely the referral says something like "had a hernia repair with mesh in (year) and complains of persistant pain, referred for possible mesh removal" but it would be good to check. Can you show it to a Thai speaker?

You actually have no need of a referral letter to go anywhere since as a foreigner you have to pay regardless of where you go.

I assume the referral letter gives a breakdown of what, who, when and any problems that may of occurred at the time of the original operation. After all it was 16+ years ago.

  4. I had a mesh inserted in a hernia some 16+ years ago. Since then I've been uncomfortable at times and just assumed it was all part and parcel of a mesh hernia repair. Lately things have become more noticeable painful wise in the hernia area.

Today I went to the local government hospital where I had the operation done. The surgeons there didn't seem too happy doing an examination but they did. They've now given me a referral letter to go to Korat. They didn't exactly say why. I'm assuming it's the 'mesh'. Has anyone had a hernia mesh repair operation done and can it be done? If I have to live with the discomfort then so be it. But just a a side thing. The doctor asked my wife where I'm from. She told him England and he said 'why don't you take him there'? I have no idea as to his meaning.

I'm guessing you'll need a plastic surgeon more than a dermatologist...   But perhaps consult with both.

Give over. I had a cyst removed recently at a rural government hospital by junior doctor. Just received a local injection and job done within 30 mins. Can't recall the exact cost but I'd say no more than 300 Baht. Removed the stitches myself it's that easy.

  6. I had my money in a Credit Union fixed term account. The first year all was fine and my IO accepted the Credit Union as being okay. Second year they refused to accept the Credit Union as a bank. They said they wanted to see movement in ones account and a fixed term Credit Union account didn't provide that service.

    I use Buriram IO.

  7. Helpful hint to the OP upon obtaining a bike. Buy a catapult and some glass marbles from a 20 Baht shop and use them if attacked. Thereafter just hang the catapult on the handle bar and just the sight of it will stop the dogs.

Wrong, TM6 still required if you travel overland into/from Thailand (at least in Nong Khai at the Friendship Bridge) ......

As a holder of PR you are exempt from doing TM30, TM28 and TM47 forms. You are also not required to have a TM6 card.

Ubonjoe wrote the above on September 7, 2015. Bit late to tell him he's wrong.☹️

Ha you have managed to get away with filling in those forms up to now.

    TIN = tax identification number.

Tropicalevo says it's  ones NI number. Never knew that 'til now. And I would have thought the bank would know that when I joined the bank.

TIN stands for Tax Identification number. For the UK this is your NI no.

Thanks for your input 'topt'. I know it's got nothing to do with online banking but I fail to see why it can't be carried out using 'online banking system' in saving time, postal costs for the bank and 300 Baht for me to send the forms back.

  11. I do online banking with 'Smile Bank'. Of late I've been getting forms regarding Urgent Action Required

We need some information from you about your tax residency

They want to know about my SSN and my TIN number. Why can't they allow me to do it using online banking? After all that's what I thought online banking was all about. Also I dunno what the hell a (TIN) is. So I filled out the form as best as I could and got the missus to post the filled in form back to 'Smile Bank'. Cost 300 Baht standard post. Doing it online would cost nothing and the replied forms would get there more or less instantly. Am I being ****ed about or are other posters getting this hassle?
