  1. Well, if we all had more of them the world would be a more mellow place. Maybe someone needs to mail a lava lamps and bongs to those in power. On a side note, right now in the US there are dozens or hundreds of Thai university students doing work and travel and enjoying the freedom of legally enjoying the weed there. And I've heard that many are actually trying to stay on there by getting visas for students. Not sure how that's working out but many don't want to come back to LOS. They don't see it as the LOS or opportunity like their parents may have.
  2. I think eventually members here find some niches they like and post in those and avoid any real serious topics. We can't talk about the truth about Thailand here and probably some other topics as you said. It is what it is, just like Thailand.
  3. From the NPR story... " In January, she returned to her rural hometown in the northeast region of Isaan and started a job in accounting at a local hospital. " "I only had a small amount of money left. I had about 10,000 baht [$300] saved and used it to pay off my rent in Pattaya. I sent some money [in advance] to my mother for the expenses of my two sons, about 3,000 baht [$100]. " In my opinion, these stories should also take into account the males who knock up these girls and dump them. "What is life like for you now? My routine has changed. On the weekends, I have time to be with my family. I'm making new friends. [Instead of going to bed late because of my evening shift at the bar], I get up early and go to a daytime job. It's funny — I used to complain that someday I would have to sleep like a normal person! Do you miss anything about Pattaya? Party life, handsome men, drinking with friends. I hardly drink now because of my new profession, but I miss it so much."
  4. I don't have a Samsung but all my Google products are in one Google file on the screen on my cheap phone.
  5. Maybe they should design a canal that runs through pattaya drawing the water into and out into the sea. It could also be a place for Pattaya residents to harbour some personal boats and a place to get on ferries going out to Koh Lan or Hua Hin. It would be a massive project but there are probably a few generals interested in it. It could end up being something like this one in San Antonio, Texas but hopefully a bit clearer water/ It could be done. Actually, it could also have a bike and walking path for health which could run from Sukumvit or further inland to the sea. It'd be a great way for residents and hotel guests to take a bike ride or share-bike ride from their homes to the sea avoiding all the traffic.
  6. Some heavy rain in the north and lower Esarn near Ubon at the moment. Rain, rain, rain. https://www.tmd.go.th/en/ https://www.metoc.navy.mil/jtwc/jtwc.html
  7. There's one area along Jomtien that smells like a septic tank when you drive by. They obviously had some sewer issues there. Not sure if this is the same area or if they have solved that problem.
  8. I thought this was for more modern songs. I posted Yes, Master in the oldies and that reminded me of this newer song.
  9. I came across this one. 1958. Wait bit into it for the reason for the name. Definitely a lot 45. The Whips - Yes, Master. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUuXiVAsAt8
  10. Lots of long hair music here. I wonder how many old hippies there are in this forum, and how many of them still have long hair in their 60s, 70s and 80s? Looking for a song about long haired males, I came across this... Here's a full song...
  11. Whatever. If they offer me a freebie, I'll take it. I already have the AZ. I'll take all of them, but I'll skip the horse paste or sheep dip or whatever its called.
  12. Sad days for the kids. Who's taking all this yaba in Thailand and for what? Do rural farmers need it to work? Is it used for weight loss by women? Are truckers using it? Sure is a hell of a lot of pills in this haul and still there are so many others caught each day.
  13. Some of those old series from the 60s and 70s are just great.
  14. I watched this movie not to long ago. It's nothing like the films of today. John Travola was hot in his day and the girl that he fell for in this story was damn beautiful, and together they really had something. Personally, I think their kiss and connection at that moment during the dance contest in the movie was probably the best and most believable ever on the screen, but to see that you have to watch the full movie. This is just one song,
  15. The get all that without the series actually touching on the true issues that cause Thailand to be a nation rife with corruption and abuse. I hope someday that Thais at least abroad will make a movie or series that shows the straight out abuse and human rights violations that occur regularly without the news or media of Thailand covering them in any real level. I guess I am asking for a series called something like 'The Elephant in the Room'.
  16. This is from a few years ago. Just noticed it on Netflix. It has one season (Part 1) but I think there is a second season (Part 2) ? Well, so far it's not bad. Something like an origins of rap and turntable mixing story from run down NYC 1977.
  17. Watching the Netflix Series "The Get Down" about the beginning of rap/hip hop and all the other stuff that started in the late 70s in crumbling NYC, I learned about something I always wondered about. Where did that famous "It takes two to make a thing go right" sampling come from in the 80s songs. Doing a little search I found out and also where the "Yeah! Woo!" that goes with it most of the time. Lyn Collins - "Think About It" 1972 Woo! Yeah! includes James Brown's "Woo!" and Bobby Byrd's "Yeah!" voices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBvXBNx0lqg
  18. This series is pretty good if you like the WW2 era. Takes place in occupied Germany just after the war. It's on Netflix.
  19. Great series. You might like the movie Farewell as well if you like her. It's pretty good.
  20. There are still some places here and there for cheap prices. Okay, it's Flint , MI. but it's a home for cheap. Just get all the other poor expats to buy on the same street and you'll have a Thaitown. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/709-Simcoe-Ave_Flint_MI_48507_M36641-39386
  21. This girl Pim who does live videos on Twitch was on the beach in Koh Chang this afternoon. She's still online live at the moment. She seems to travel around the tourist areas without a lot of problems as she makes videos and talks about Thailand and her life.
  22. I'll agree that all dogs can be at least a little dangerous if they bite you. In packs, they often go wild again and often willingly join in an attack. But some breeds are worse. Pitbulls send plenty of people to the hospital every year in every country including Thailand. I found this from a website on the US: "In 2019, pit bulls killed their owners and the owners' family members 40% of the time. That year, of the 48 Americans were killed by dogs, 33 were killed by pit bulls and their mixes, and 13 of the 33 victims were their owner or the owner's family member. In one additional case, the victim was a visiting baby." https://dogbitelaw.com/vicious-dogs/pit-bulls-facts-and-figures All I am saying is do you really need a pitbull? Won't a collie or airdale fit? If you love pitbulls and you see a few running down the street, go greet them and play with them before they find some child to play with. Better a pitbull lover gets mauled than some innocent kid or old lady. Just found this story from Thailand earlier this year. Nothing will happen to the dog in the article that opened this thread. They let a killer pitbull go to a new home. April 2021. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/killer-pattaya-pitbull-finds-new-home-in-nakhon-sawan-351662
  23. Were it a pit bull, the arm probably would have been ripped right off. Pitbulls are the top killers out there. Do you need an update? Give me a second to find one. Last death by pitbull in a quick check was July 28. But there have been endless attacks since then. https://www.pe.com/2021/08/06/4-people-injured-in-dog-attack-in-jurupa-valley/
