  1. It's to be hoped you are not going to teach English with your truncated sentences and no capital letters. Good teachers pay attention to every detail at all times.

    P&M

Well said! I was recently speaking to a Frenchman whose English was so bad that I couldn't understand him. Double negatives littered poor grammar and pronunciation. He is studying for a TEFL certificate.

I am not a teacher but I do believe in writing posts, emails and text messages correctly.

  2. I have a Non - O. One year I was offered a job, had a work permit, and told to keep my Non - O, don't change to a Non - B. Aster three months I stopped work, cancelled my work permit and continued on my Non - O.

If I had had a Non - B then I would have lost the visa when I finished work and cancelled the work permit and would have been given seven days to leave the country. (By coincidence a friend of min is leaving tomorrow as he has just stopped working. Back to UK to get a retriement visa.)

  3. I think it would be dishonest not to point out an obvious error like the one mentioned above. Taking something without properly paying for it is a form of stealing. I don't think it is anything worth bragging about. On the contrary, it's shameful.

How is it stealing? It is their policy not his. If they say that they will give it free if thry price it wrong then they have a duty to fulfil their promise.

  4. Put the excess on a bus and pick it up at the bus station in NST.

Or...tell your wife to pack more sparingly.

Do the latter at your own risk. :)

Sending it on the bus is the cheapest and easiest option.

Send the wife on the bus as well. Also cheaper.

  5. My friend took a couple of mosquito zappers, the ones like a tennis racquet. Despite the fact that nearly every house here has at least one my frien had a terrible exprience at the Airport. His offence was importing dangerous weapons. They were confiscated, loads of paperwork and interrogations before they decided not to charge him.

Stun guns are a bit different though. Take them back to England and not expect to get caught?

Another friend, who sleeps in his lorry when on long distance trips, ordered a pepper spray by post for when he is in the cab, especially with the lorry thefts that occur. When it arrived he got arrested.

  6. Russian Couple Caught Fornicating On A Pattaya Beach

How do they know they were Russian?

The headline says "caught" but they left before they were caught.

How do they know the couple were fornicating? Were either of them married? Married to each other? If neither of them were married they were not fornicating. If they are married to each other they were not fornicating.

Very sloppy (no pun intended) reporting.

  7. The OP's question is flawed. You asked"where is the logic?" This is Thailand where logic hasn't been invented.

As an example, my friend commented on his workers' use of just the rear brake on a motorcycke, never using the front brake. He tried to explain why the front brake is motre powerful and effective. Their reply was "front brake is only for Falangs!"

Similarly, why do the shops display products that are out of stock but won't sell the display item?

Anyway, back on topic. I have a 3BB line and a TOT line. It never occurred to me to join the two lines together. Would this be possible? If so, how?

  8. Thai Red Cross Refuses to Facilitate Blood Collection for Red-shirt

BANGKOK: -- The Thai Red Cross has refused to assist the red-shirt protesters in the blood donation process, saying the group's objective for the blood to be donated is inappropriate.

It's also warned against improper blood drawing which can cause various harmful sideaffects and donors could potentially go into shock and even paralysis.

I forgot to mention when I posted yesterday that if someone inexperienced takes blood they can introduce air into the blood vessel. Yhis embolism can kill far quicker than HIV or Hepatitis.

  9. I have had a TT&T fixed line (no telephone) for over two years, now 3BB. Much better than TOT ever were.

If I check inside my router I get 3084 down 1024 up. Do a speedtest and I get 2.8 down, 832 up.

    Torrents downloading is fairly impressive.

  10. The maths doesn't add up very well. 1,000 Litres from 100,000 people means just 100 ml from each person. This has all got to be collected (by whatever means) safely so as not to infect the donor. Using sterile equipment each time, and care taken not to infect the person managing the donation.

If it is done caarelessly then just one infected person (and in a sample as large as 100,000 people it is highly probable there are more) with Hepatitis or HIV could infect others.

The "Collective Stupidity" term above seems highly appropriate.

We'll know when, or if, it has been done as the stench will spread a long way!

  11. Odds are that there is other code in other pages on your site and if someone has hacked it and you dont know how they got in then it is better to do a clean install and upload files again. The htaccess is easy to find and delete the rogue code, but I'll bet it comes back again. Are you using Wordpress or a CMS? If so you might have fake jpg's in your Images folders or check the cgi bin folder, if you have one, and see what's in there.

( I've had this happen to me before)

In the original post he wrote that there is only two files, index + htaccess.

The servers I have a lot to do with had a huge problem a year or so ago. Many sites were hijacked, all the server space used, no mailboxes working etc. Not an individual site's problem but it affected many sites.

I forgot to suggest the the OP change his FTP and CP password to something really strong.

  12. The .HTACCESS file is what tells your browser which file to use as the default when opening your web site. It is only a text file and can be left blank. This will then open the site to the default index.htm or index.html file.

It can be useful if you want to name a file as something else and use that as the entry page of your site.

However, if it has been hacked, thus sending people to a different site instead of yours, it is probably best to just open it and delete any text written.

  13. I know a restaurant in Naklua who saved up enough points for part payment of a car. They had 200,000 Bartercard points.

The deposit was the 200,000 points, then a cash payment of..........................equal to the normal selling price. Not surprisingly they don't take Bartercard for meals anymore.

  14. My Toshiba, about the same age, is telling me I need a new RTC (Real Time Clock) battery so it won't start without a bit of persuasion. Once started I have to reset the time/date.

I only trust two people to do anything with my computers. Me and one Thai guy on Soi Chaiyaprock.

You certainly don't need to think it has died and needs replacing. The worst case scenario is probably reinstalling your operating system. Copy all the data you want to save first though.
