  1. Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the future. Sorry you had to put up with all the negative comments through the journey. It would have been a great service if it worked out.
  2. I just assumed that it was going to their retirement fund like every other office in Thailand. I did a visa run through there and the IO seemed confused that I did not have a new visa in my passport. I had to point out the old one.
  3. It is an unfortunate change but I have heard agents in Savannakhet are selling ME Non-O's for 13000b. Is more than the previous 5000b but still quite good value for a 15 month visa.
  4. Or get agent assisted visas. It is a,long trip to only get 90 days. Considering the expense involved( Laos visa, accom, travel every 3 months ) unless you are under 50 years old you might as well switch to a retirement visa. I do not think under 50's are as much o a market for upmarket Savannaket than retirees
  5. I know people will say Savannakhet survives on more than non-o border runners but it is surely going to be a big hit to their economy. Am not sure why anyone would go there ifor muchvreason except the embassy. II can't see tourist visa holders and visa run groups paying over 100 b for a coffee at one of the expensive cafes near the embassy. Sure there are domestic laos people but it still must be an income drop for the farung style restaurants and hotels.
  6. The bar girls in Pattaya tell me I speak Thai very well. I have started mixing Thai and English. Mai Pben f....ing Rai.
  7. Could you provide some more information. Was it busy. What documents did you provide? Any other useful information?
  8. They keep electing the same administration. They are very efficient at election campaigning.
  9. Your floor looks great. I finished mine and I guess it fulfills the purpose. Thanks for advice
  10. Thanks. I havedone the primer coat. My friend convinced me to thin it a little. Thanks for the advice. You are always very helpful
  11. Thank you. I cant see any other reason why you would engage in a forum which has nothing to do with you since you get a visa from your local office. Reading the replies, nobody else on the thread seems to appreciate your preaching and moralising. In fact, I would bet most expats are here to get away from it all -no tv news, no newspapers, nobody to preach to you except Skipalong. All your comments are just speculation anyway which makes them more laughable. Only the people in the immigration department or the office in Laos could know the reason they do not ask for financials so accusing them of corruption is just silly. It is mainly for FIFO people anyway. I only spend 6 months a year in Thailand. I am married toba Thai so am not a tourist. I am not retired. Why would i want to have 400,000 baht tied up in a Thai bank with low interest or get an inappropriate visa.
  12. Thanks. It seems simpler to put it down without the thinner
  13. You say 'well diluted' am guessing you mean with a thinner. Is it truecthat if you use a primer instead you do not need to dilute it.
  14. He is actually German but I prefer your advice. I will take the thinner back to the shop and just use the F-6100 then the U-202. Thank you once again.
  15. Hi. I was hoping for some advice (again). I have sanded an old wooden floor and am ready to prime it and varnish it. I have bought Beger F-6100 . On google translate the label says primer(as does a Thai person reading it) but when I research it both Shopee and Thai Watsadu are describing it as thinner. My next door neighbour from germany, believing it is primer, says I should add thinner to it when I put on the primer(if that is what it is) but I look on youtube etc and nobody says to add thinner. Same with the top coat. I have beger Unithane U 202 and the neighbour says I should add thinner as well but youtube does not mention it. Thanks for any input
  16. @Skipalongcassidy is just trolling. He is probably an ex-schoolteacher who can't lecture the kids anymore so he goes on a forum in which he has no involvement and lectures other people. (he pays his agent to get his non-o and goes through all the home visit and neighbour interviews etc) . It is a bit sad that he has no other interest except complaining about other people and his imagined corruption. I was going to make some deliberate spelling mistakes to give him some entertainment by correct my spelling.
  17. Do you have anything to back up what you say about chanote on beaches. I understood chanote was granted by the local amphurs but the beaches are crown land. Considering people have just taken beaches for themselves I always thought it would be a money earned for enterprising lawyers starting class actions against beach thieves. I had heard that the king owns all the land so many metres beyond high water mark but hard to find the true story.
  18. There was a recent thread about HCMC where somebody mentioned it happening at Savannaket.
  19. I dont understand the MYTH. name. Is it like MILF bar. I guess all the girls are older. Is it MOTHERS YOU THINK .....something
  20. Your words not mine. I am sure you are a really nice person who begrudges somebody less fortunate than you a happy marrìage to somebody they love. Luckily there are not many people like you making the world a sad place.
  21. You seem to really care about it so much so I will answer. . Let me ask you. Why is going to Savannakhet to get a visa circumventing the rules? Has it ever occured to you that it is a legal, government authorized immigration office with officers in uniform and not a shady back street illegal agents office? Do you think maybe the Thai government realizes that some foreigners are in a legal loving relationship with a Thai person but for some unfortunate reason do not have the money in the bank to afford a visa and they allow a little loophole to help such people? I am curious? Are you married to a Thai or just a preaching old retiree with no commitment or engagement to Thai culture or people?
  22. So @transam described you correctly, particularly judging by this reply.
  23. It is hard to see how it will work. Will the bar girls waiting at WU get taxed on their weekly payments and likewise overseas workers sending from Wise. How will the government work out what is income not subject to tax treaties and what level of yax has already been paid. I am not an accountant but thecimplementation seems fraught with trouble.
