I knew it was a condition of long stay. If you think about it on a shot visa it is a sizeable chunk out of the stay..... My not be that many up takers - same as with the STV.....which appears to be a non-starter so far.

It doesn't matter how you come here and for how long, the quarantine is same for everyone. And there won't be many if any who will be willing to pay at least ฿100,000 baht in total for a trip to Thailand. That incl the airline ticket, quarantine and several other fees for this and that to be able to get the CoE and get on a plane. That's before the vacation has started. I have already seen reports from Europe about a very low interest in the STV when people understood how much it would cost and that they have to quarantine etc etc.

Why would it cost 8x more than a person ? ... scam imo,

You pay for a seat, in this case most likely the cheapest one, while the bicycle probably goes into the freight carriage. Your budget must be very small if you can't afford ฿90.

the statement "If on a extension of stay based upon working issued by immigration it would end on the day your job ends" is of course correct.

However it can be noted that it is up to the passport holder to go to the immigration office to have his visa cancelled, he then has 7 days to leave the country (his non-immigrant B visa is cancelled and a 7 days permit to stay is added to his passport).

A few years ago I heard about someone (not one of my direct acquaintances) that was in this situation. He did forgot to bring his passport to have his visa cancelled, and used it for more than one year to go in and out of the country, even through his work permit had been cancelled. At the end of validity of his non-immigrant B he left the country for good.

Of course I do not condone such behavior, however I do not know how immigration could have detected that his visa was not valid anymore and I am not sure what type of legal risk was involved in his action. Should any board member be more knowledgeable I would be interested to learn more about this legal risk (if any?).

Unless someone inform immigration about a cancelled wp, they won't have a clue it's cancelled. I guess, technically you would be on overstay. Maybe in the future they can cross check wp's and those visas you're allowed to work on.

Sounds like an ATM slip would be the way to go then. As long as the ATM slip doesn't need to be from that specific bank's ATM machine.  ????

But don't forget that the bank letter is still needed and it's not negotiable at Immigration. If your friends account is a fixed deposit account, he is not supposed to withdraw money from it to get the ATM slip.

Depends on type of account. If regular savings account then CW expects a transaction same day. If account is a fixed account no transaction needed.

A transaction slip from an ATM is good enough to show account details.

But that transaction needs to be a deposit if we're talking about a FDA. You never withdraw money from a FDA. You still need the bank letter from the bank, so doing everything there is imo easier.

So, when does this transaction need to take place?  The week before, the day before, the day of?  That's what I'm trying to nail down, preferably from someone whose funds are in a statement account and who has dealt with CW Immigration officers.

Same day or the day before is most common. What bank is he using? I know people using branches at CW complex the same day as the application.

The 14-day SQ/ASQ is still required by ALL incoming passengers regardless of their nationality.

Also add Thai Airways to that list. According to the RTE London website, Thai nationals using TG flights qualify for free SQ that is assigned after arrival and the initial PCR test. ie. they don't get to chose where they quarantine. Thai nationals using any other airlines will need to book and pay in advance for ASQ, just like non-Thai passengers have to.

Travelers can now book their own flights direct with the airlines but they still need to get the CoE from the RTE London who will need the flight details, PCR test, fit-to-fly, ASQ booking confirmation, etc..

With the Thai repatriation effort pretty much done and dusted as far as RTE London is concerned, not sure if foreigners can avail themselves of the TG/free SQ deal that applied for Thai-only during the full-on repatriation effort.

The requirements or benefits are not the same for foreigners compared to thai nationals when flying Thai. Thai nationals are repatriated and have more choices regarding for example quarantine.

  8. Are you talking about the 800k in the account 2 months prior to the 1 year extension? If so, you always need the bank letter which shows that the account belongs to you.

Several Immigration offices wants a transaction to be done the day of application, some is ok with the day before, but the balance must be same in both the bank letter and in the bank book. Again, several Immigration offices accepts copies of the bank book showing the 800k in the bank 2 months prior to the extension, but the bank book must be fully updated, no combined transactions. Is this your friends first extension? If the bank book isn't properly updated, he'll need a bank statement from the bank showing the last 2 months + the bank book and bank letter. If it's the second annual extension, he needs to show either a properly updated bank book 12 months back or a 12 months bank statement. This depends on the Immigration office. Some offices requires a 12 months bank statement and some are ok with copies from the monthly updated bank book 12 months back incl the first page with the name.

simple question !!   Can I re-enter Thailand on my Non O-A retirement (valid extension of stay ) with re-entry permit ???

Reason I ask is that when one googles the question and is referred to Thai Embassy website it does state that quote :

Holders of Non-Immigrant OA and OX Visa

BUT in the paragraph below that is categorizes / classifies that as quote :

    • Foreigners who are holding non-immigrant O visas who are spouses, parents or children of Thai nationals.

It does not mention "retirees"  ??????

I really hope it does include "retirees"  as I have my flight and everything to go out booked and I was given to understand that my class of visa (retiree) was eligible !!!

People on O-A and O-X visas or extensions are allowed to apply for the CoE. This has officially been announced. The reason they are mentioning Non-O based on spouse, parents or having kids, is that people on Non-O based on retirement are NOT allowed yet. You should know that Thai authorities incl embassies and consulates have never been very good at explaining things in proper English.

I am currently in Thailand with an 0/a extension good till April 2021. I retired here with a condo, car and money in the bank ( not Married to Thai ). I am trying to find out any information of my options if I wish to travel back to USA to see my new grandson born early this year.

If leave today , I face not returning on my current o/a extension  . It is Very confusing, money and time consuming with all the rules todate. Perhaps it is better to wait till ...but I like to hear forum readers ideas and thoughts returning to USA and back to Thailand . It is times like this I wonder if retirement in Thailand was a good idea.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated . Thanks

"It is times like this I wonder if retirement in Thailand was a good idea."

You do understand that the current restrictions exist because of a pandemic? If you were an Aussie, you weren't allowed to enter or even leave Australia for a long time. And that's for Aussie nationals. You can leave Thailand almost any day or week you want, but you won't be able to come back straight away. You need to wait until the emergency decree is lifted, and maybe some of the requirements for coming back will change. But imo, it probably won't happen the next couple of months.

Yep. Corrupt to the CORe ???? Like buying something in 7/11 and the checkout assistant asking you for an extra 200 baht to process your order....

At several immigration offices the RC is free if you can wait up to maybe 2 weeks, and it cost 200-300 baht (maybe even more) if you want it straight away. At other offices you always get it straight away, it takes maybe 30 min, and I think that's why there's a cost. So, what do you prefer, come back after 2 weeks when you need the RC tomorrow, or pay 200-300 baht and get it straight away?

Of course, sort of like the Thai airways cancelations and my Delta Airlines cancelations, continuing to be booked and canceled and now a voucher to use before the end of September 2022 if the airlines are still in business, and of course no refunds.  Just laughable.

If you know that Thai Airways went bankrupt, then you know why there are still no refunds. Passengers always gets eventual money last.
