"Open" means quarantine is reduced to 7 days and you can wander round the restricted area. So it's Phuket Sandbox extended to these other areas.

It won't achieve much. The difference in tourist numbers will come when the COE (Certificate of Entry) requirement is removed.

COE covers quarantine and insurance - no tourist in prepared to forego a week of their holiday allowance and cough up hundreds of dollars for insurance against a non-existent risk.

Incidentally, ou pay the hotel in advance and even if COE is dropped, it isn't refunded, you've lost that money, maybe €2,000. I have checked this..

Sorry COE is Permission to enter, nothing to do with quarantine

you need an COE to enter Phuket sandbox.

    COE will remain

So, November, I can leave my Chiang Mai hotel at 7am and return at midnight if I want?

...or am I stuck in a hotel still...in which case, what is the context of Chiang Mai "sandbox"?

I believe that by November 1st or 15th, the 5 other Sandboxes will be ready, BUT it’s not announced or Royal Gazetted yet

So my plan is wait until November, for the NEW 5 sandboxes are announced, and then enter via that route, I’ve already done Sandbox in Phuket and even though 14 days was too long, 7 days will be fine as long as we’re allowed out using same principle as Phuket sandbox.

    The areas are

    1. Bangkok,

    2. Chiang Mai (Muang. Mae Rim, Mae Taeng and Doi Tao districts),

    3. Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin district),

    4. Phetchaburi (Cha-am district) and

5.Chon Buri (Pattaya, Bang Lamung and Sattahip districts), government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said on Saturday.

Can you please give me the name of the hotel, so I can check it out on Agoda?  Thanks for your help.

Lots of choices on AGODA Quarantine, I’m guessing the new AQ package includes the mandatory PCR tests (day 1 & day 6)

The PCR test cost approx. 2500-3,000 each, maybe less now.

    Bangkok Quarantine AQ 7 day

    NOVOTEL 7,800

Pattaya Quarantine AQ 7 day Still not showing up yet

Make sure its Quarantine package DON”T PAY unless your 1,000,000% sure you have everything sorted

Only thing... your castle is in their country.

I don't mind the pics I think I'm pretty cute. LOL. But I can understand the ease a retirement visa brings you, but I still have projects I want to do that my require a work visa and I can't get that being retired.

Ok fair point if you need that type of visa, but I’ll give you 10 years, and by then you’ll hate how they treat people who are not in their group or clique

    I agree. This is confusing.

So, a tourists has to stay at an AQ hotel. Can he go anywhere in Bangkok or Chiang Mai - like leave at 7am and return home at midnight doing whatever he wants?

If yes, then the AQ are basically meaningless. If no, then this is a quarantine, so stop saying Thailand is "open". It's not.

AQ is confiend to hotel room, so you CAN"T go out its not a Sandbox where as you can go out during the day, thats supposed to be November plans.

October is just a filler, November will be 5 Sandboxs types

If it's fully paid, it doesn't say anything about a minimum. While if you only pay a deposit, it has to be atleast 15.000B.

Since there obvious are cheaper alternatives, the deposit thing doesn't really make any sense.

great if its true, but next meeting is tommorrow.

I expect November changes to be confirmed Monday 1st November.

we should be able to leave hotel during november and only check in 2 times per day, same as Sandbox

  7. My short answer to the marriage visa versus retirement

I did 1 marriage visa extension, and I hated how they told you to wait for a call before they came round, and then randomly called you in 7-10 days saying” you better be home tomorrow “ they came to the house and took pictures in every room and all the other stuff

So the next year I went down the retirement route for visa, they never came near my house, never asked for friends or neighbors to verify who or whatever.

So I’m sticking to retirement route, it my castle stay the hell out

And they wonder why the tourists haven't come...

this year and last ALL major changes were done within 4-5 days

so you're right for any long term planning its a waste.

I suspect the same for November New sandbox for 5 locations,

the announcement will be october 25th or later starting november 1.

So Don't pay for anything until october 30th or later

  9. I entered Phuket sandbox in July

    I had an O-A visa

I had double vaccination (outside of Thailand)

I had COVID-19 insurance for $100k it was valid for 1 year

I wasn’t asked to show proof of general medical insurance

I had to book and pay for a SHA+ hotel

I had to pay for 3 PCR tests prior to arrival ( this should now be 2 PCR tests, day 1 & 6)

any other questions let me know

It's hard to make a reservation for November when there isn't any hotel to book. That would suggest that they are not doing a sandbox and instead turning people loose. That's hard to believe since it makes PCR tests near impossible to conduct and verify. I think the answer as I'm sure you suspect is poor planning.

With the drop to one week on Nov 1, there isn't any sense starting a two week quarantine the last week of October unless they grandfather you in like some people are reporting in Phuket so that you could start on the 24th this month and get out on the first Nov. They're not making planning easy.

Wait until the 11th October, that’s the next date for  CCSA meeting.

Dont Book anything also unless you can get refund or free date change.

The Bangkok sandbox will go ahead next it just depends on 1st or 15th November.

Perhaps current ASQ hotels will just change the name into SHA +.

As you will not be confined to the room and you will have to pay for the tests yourself, room price should go down, but this is Thailand, same, same, but different.

I’ve just had a quick look on the SHA website I selected Bangkok SHA +

    https://www.thailandsha.com/shalists/index?type=shaplus-SHA Plus +&province=10-Bangkok

and for some reason Bangkok is showing ZERO for SHA +

if you check Chonburi or Phuket they both have gazillions business’s

I expect Bangkok has some places where they have staff vaccinated and spacing which meets social distancing rules, so maybe this will be updated for opening of Bangkok sandbox (or whatever they name it ) November 1st

what is the name of the Bangkok reopening ???

  12. I’m sure the rules for Bangkok sandbox (or whatever the name is) will be

Stay for 14 or 7 nights at a SHA+ approved hotel Only.

Use SHA+ Approved, taxis restaurants malls shops etc, basically they will tell you and you will need to agree to only use anything that has a SHA+ approval.

I’m not going to comment on how this will be enforced, only what the rules will be to use the Bangkok Sandbox model.

Thailand SHA Plus refers to the certification issued by Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration

SHA+ means, the business has the correct percentage of staff double Jabbed.

Here is the website for SHA and SHA+

    https://www.thailandsha.com/shalists/index?type=shaplus-SHA Plus +&province=83-ภูเก็ต

  13. I used the Phuket sandbox and we had to scan and then show the QR code each day, we were told to use Mor Chana

i had multipe issues with it at my hotel but the staff at hotel entered my details manually.

I also used Thailand plus app when i did an ASQ earlier this year, I dont really remember using the Thailand plus app during my ASQ.

i use an Iphone an had no issue installing and opening the app for use the first time.

  14. My understanding is

    • Thailand recognises vaccines approved by WHO
    • vaccines approved for use in Thailand, some of these may NOT be approved by WHO

    NOTE

I landed at BKK in April 2021 and I had SINPOPHARM which was approved by WHO in March-April, however the Thai health inspector at airport told me that SINOPHARM wasn’t on the Thai approved list yet, so I had to complete 10 days quarantine instead of the 7 days, this new rule didn’t last long as everything went wrong in April May.

the question of mixing vaccines is a huge question, and no one can answer that question here, it can only come from Thai Embassy

your OP friend will get an answer regarding his COE application, "approved or rejected"

  15. From my past experiences and working with lads who tried to dodge paying Tax in the UK, it gets harder and harder each year, you would need to be out for a minimum of 3-4 years before everything kicks in.

Take a deep breath and consider where you’ll be in 5-10 years, quick fixes sometimes lead to disaster later due to poor planning or listening to advice in pubs or web forums.

My mate has been offered a job working offshore Israel, he’ll be paid from a company in Singapore, he thought great tax free and he only needs to stay out of the UK for X number of days.

I told him unless he’s going to stay out of the UK full time for a period of 5 years it aint worth the hassle of trying to hide from the UK tax man, I told him to pay his tax and he can sleep at night and he wont be worrying about a tax bill dropping through his letter box later.

My last comments speak to an account, don’t too much listen on here.

Sorry but I think perhaps its you who is poorly informed. Where tax is due is determined by the residence country of the taxpayer, not the company.

    Thats in correct

@Oxx is 100% correct, if the company paying you is based UK then its classed as UK, many many companies set up smaller branches in other country's.

so the OP will need to change his employers company or address to be NON UK

I've 26 years overseas and I know things change from time to time, but the company based in or out UK hasn't changed.

I think its tied to the employers declaring who the pay and employ no matter where they are in the world.

So it doesnt really matter where you are, its where the Employer is
