    Booze and cigarettes are cheaper, for sure. If you are a heavy drinker and smoker, you can save a lot. But almost everything else is more expensive - from food in supermarkets to clothes to electronics.

    From my experience, Vietnam is more expensive than Thailand. Especially it's hard to beat Pattaya which is the cheapest of the cheapest

    In fact, tourists are encouraged to buy condos in Thailand. So many condos are advertised specifically to target tourists.

    If you read older topics, they already said it was hard to open accounts for tourists (excluding Bangkok Bank of course). Here's a topic from 2017:

    Btw, how did your friend manage to open a Krungthai account without a long-term visa?

    How long ago was that? Maybe that's their usual trick to send people to other banks to get rid of them quickly?

    I don't know of any agent that can open an account for a tourist in a bank other than BB

    Has anyone managed to open a bank account on a tourist visa for the purpose of buying a condo? I know, I know, Bangkok Bank opens accounts for tourists, but I'm talking about other banks. I tried to do this at Kasikorn and SCB, but they gave me the usual WP cr*p, ignoring the fact that I'm buying a condo.

    Thanks, but no thanks. As a privileged Russian citizen, I spend less than 20k per year on border runs. Unlimited land border entries.

    From what I can tell, by default they don't see all the database history unless they have reasons to request that information.
