The absurdity of the LTR handling
Captain Monday replied to SingAPorn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would be interested in the LTR I have plenty of assets and income, but no passive income so as a ”Weathy Global Person” I need to invest $USD 500k in more real estate or Thai govt bonds. Seems unresonable a person who has pension passive income a fraction of my yearly income from wages is allowed, but I need to now drop 500 k? Not for me. Thailand Actually the evisa system a game changer. I had to apply for a second passport previously as I need to have my primary passport in possession at all times for work purposes. I just was granted a new non imm visa in record time of 4th working day by noon local standard time. Everything is getting easier. The application fees ? Have they gone up? Never MET a American right-winger in Chiang Mai, maybe not much attraction There was an American guy at a yoga school on Nimman once, to pick up his GF. He was running his mouth on a staff member about the evils of Obama-care, "tax cuts create jobs", discredited tropes Thai people of any persuation would have no idea about. The Thai Yoga dude was just smiling faintly and nodding his head probably thinking the reactionary was out of his mind. He was

How to retire in Thailand
Captain Monday replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Leave sell or leave everything in home country. For example don't bring your lifetime collection of power tools, musical instruments LP records or furniture. Everything you really need is easily available here. Except good socks and underwear 😆There is always AMAZON. Rent! Never pay in advance for anything such as a gym membership/ Maybe a condo or vehicles but remember to not invest anything more you cannot afford to lose This includes relationships. And every expat needs to have have a backup plan whether it is returning to your home country or plan B Do not open a business Never purchase a home in a Thai woman's name -
Thai tourism sector proposes 300-baht tax to counter over-tourism
Captain Monday replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just make it 300 baht per day, to include accident insurance. Solves one “problem” Now, how to keep out the criminal dross?🤔🤔🤔 -
This one used call me frequently from a Tonga area code “Hello this is the customer service department” in a heavy Indian accent. “You have a virus on your computer” My question to them was what is the name of my internet service provider? They could never even answer that.

British man arrested for begging to buy drugs in Koh Pha Ngan

Isn’t positive urine test in Thailand considered possession? Maybe he was made to submit a sample and resulted in the purple stain. -
I think it is because no competition and Immigration doesn’t really buy into it Look at online retailers. If their sites are hard to use they lose custom The more painless and efficient online immigration services become the less justification for the huge cadres of officers and that will end up with less headcount and slower promotions.

Similar then, but participation in US social security is mandatory. Mandatory in that the payments, which people call social security taxes but are actually *premiums are automatically deducted from paychecks and employer contributions. *I went to a retirement and investment forum sponsored by our Union years ago. There the RI subject matter expert there claimed that social security is not a government pension by definition but a type of insurance policy.

Sorry no I just read that in somewhere on another thread yesterday. I will never have any pension. State public or private. only US Ssc. Everything I expect otherwise is currently invested 401k plan and private assets. All are taxable when distribution realized. At least partly, as 70 percent of Ssc and railroad annuity payments are not taxable Interesting, but why in the UK context is a State pension not a government pension?
