Must I wear a condom when I have sex with my wife, or has the WHO said I do not need one....
That entirely depends on whether you know your wife can trust you or you can trust your wife.
I don't think you need the WHO for this ????

Human nature. Even in crisis, people feel the need to differentiate themselves to show they are ‘better’.
To 'show' ... TV shows ... they made it a fashion. People just follow ...

Why pick on Thailand?
Why pick on Thailand? Finally someone speaks up and now why pick on Thailand?
Maybe because it's about time someone says it out loud ... and because it's a Thai forum with news about Thailand

What is happening? All the stuff we are not allowed to talk about in one article. And usually when you say something it's the guys jumping on someone, if you don't like Thailand, then there is the door.
Finally, a official news article about it sticking up for the people!

We can expect the numbers to rise again like what's happening in the UK and US etc .
Stay home, never go out again! You got a good portion of brainwash ... is this the UK or US?
Have you seen something spread here like the US or the UK?
Stay home and keep everything closed here, in Thailand ... forever ... because it's the same as in the UK & US ... no, we are in Thailand.
Just deal with the situation country by country ... and keep it real. If there is no outbreak, there is no outbreak.

You can call me old fashioned, but in my book the police have to follow rules. They can write a fine, as stated in the law, or send the person to a judge who can determine a punishment. But they cannot be the judges themselves.
For some reason many countries put a lot of weight on that seperation of power. It sure helps limit corruption and abuse.
People applauding this method set themselves up for a very dangerous future situation, and might be advised to look into the ideas of Charles de Montesquieu.
But this is Thailand, where the rich and powerful are above the law and almost everyone with power is corrupted. Might there be a relation?????
pfff ... too political, every time I make a reply .. I think it over a second time and think ... nah, better not post this.
My god is this difficult to explain if you can't type it out.

Why just foreigners?
Maybe it's not just foreigners ... and that just depends purely on the news outlet and what they want to portrait ...
This one said it's Tourists & Thais ... these days, I'm really getting fed up with news head lines ...

Obviously you have never been in the military and I don’t mean in Thailand
Exactly where the issue is.
I, for one, never have seen a country where Tourists (Foreigners & Thais), have to do push ups. (as someone said before, public lashes in Saudi, yes, that kind of level)
And the Thais I speak to, don't find this funny either. There has seriously something changed over the past 6 years.
How lower you want to get? These places should not get any tourists for the next 3 years ... really.

Dont you mean grow up farangs and obey the emergency decree and wear a mask when out and about.
As said in previous posts they are easily available, not difficult to follow the rules (well for most)
Jeez ... by doing push ups? Some ppl have their head so deep into something else ... can't you see it? What's going on?
Even my Thai girl has a more open minded opinion about that than you! She hates that kind of control pushed down, where does that come from?

I know what you're saying, but there isn't exactly a shortage of masks in Thailand though is there..
If you open your eyes, and look at it from a distance ... what a way to treat people.
And here comes the good part ... you can't even say what you want to say ... because it's not allowed to say in public!

That's the keyword ... in some areas.
And why? Was it a closed environment, i.e. old folks home or a specific workplace (as in the case you mentioned where it trippled).
Or just because of a general losing up of restrictions?
There are differences in this ... and you can isolate specific areas

Or, since Bangkok seems to be free of Covid-19, could just let it return back to normal, but restrict entry from people who have recently been in Phuket or Yala.
yes, exactly ... isolate the areas where there are cases and infections.
But not all the way up to Chiang Rai ... for all!

You can hide what they died from. Back to the old died from and died with. Died from makes the list, died with doesn't. death from pneumonia figures would also be intersesting. Diabetes, hypertension and other underlying contions.
So how many hospitals have you been in counting dead bodies?
Come one ... you don't think if there really were falling off from the trees as in other countries ... with the same restrictions and measures in place, you would not notice?
If there were overrun hospitals nationwide, that would have been shown on TV, surely! That's inline with the measures and restrictions. Afaik ... there haven't been overrun hospitals and dead people. Thanks god. But also ... keep it real.

seems extreme to me...seems more sensible to gradually reopen with reasonable precautions, masks. hand sanitizers, temp checks, distancing and react with strong testing tracking and quarantining with new cases so society can still function as other societies have done. Admittedly testing capabilities need improvement here.
And those people with means can still remote work or isolate.
Of course this should be done gradually ... I'm not against it. I'm speaking up for the people who really have nothing and lose it all during this process.

so continue lockdown and curfew until then?
Yes, that's what all the people want who have the means (pensioners, savings etc.) and/or can work from home ... not only here. Many other countries, too.
The rest of the millions of people who lose their jobs and businesses can stick it up ... or queue up for food or 5k baht every day

Do you have any credible source for this statement - "3017 people tested"? Or are you just lying, posting fake facts?
Keep in mind, here had been people arrested for posting incorrect information about Covid-19 (see the pinned threads in this forum).
He just posts the official number reported by Thai authorities

What is there to test if everybody stayed most at the time at home for the last 30 days? Or you would have had mild symptoms and would be cured by now or you would stay in hospital right now.
What also would be nice is to see a breakdown of the 'tracking history' of the 3017 known cases.
How many of these are linked to ppl flying in from abroad? i.e. that Mua Thai fighting arena, wasn't that linked to relatives coming back from Italy?
I guess since many weeks, all flights are restricted world wide ... and with that, no more outbreaks here. (that's just a guess now on my part).
For whatever reason, unknown to anyone ... it's not spreading here (thanks god), since how many weeks now?
Spiekerjozef ... in that sense, I fully agree with what you say.

What would be a proof of the truth in your opinion?
For me, it's having a look in the hospitals and count of dead people (you can not test as much, ok, but you can't hide dead people).
There is no outbreak in Thailand, at least not over the past weeks ... you can turn this around as much as you want.
And at least not to a point where you say all the bans and curfews are justified to be kept for any longer.
(no swimming in a pool, no sitting on the beach, no traveling between provinces, curfew at night, no alcohol
in a restaurant with your partner/spouse, etc.) That long list of restrictions.
In any case, I would say, well done ... the measures have been kept very strictly, or as much as possible.
That was a good job. To make sure that there is no outbreak happening here as we see elsewhere.
But there comes a point, where this has to turn around again.

Back to the Reuters article from yesterday, that drama & fear mongering.
I've just finished watching the news from the German TV from yesterday night
In summary:
- The R reproduction rate is back to 1 (however they measure it ... there is no increase of outbreaks, that's the main take away)
- Borders to certain neighboring countries are discussed to open up
- Some provinces are not requiring a mandated 14 day quarantine after entering from a different province
- Well equipped emergency hospitals in large exhibition halls are empty (but on stand-by)
- Plans how to be more independent from import of medicals (India & China) and to produce them inside the EU
- Hospital workers are demonstrating on the street, in a safe way, keeping distance ... their request: Clapping is not enough, we want more money
...etc.
I can't feel any fear mongering, I can see everyone having the same goal, to open up as safe and fast as possible.
No conspiracy theories ... no fighting with the press.
Meanwhile in Thailand ... zero infections ... still no lifting of bans and curfews
Watching the news in the US yesterday ... banners in the press conference "We have the most tests in the world" and a president fight with the press.
And Reuters is from now onwards on my blacklist for any news to be taken serious.
