  1. sorry to hijack, in bangkok, where can i get a 2nd hand laptop and what are the price range ?

Why buy second hard where you can have a new one for below 20K.

These 2nd notebook come without guarantee, if you really need one, they are available at Pantip Plaza, Zeer Rangsit & Fortune Tower.

Not looking for a 1st handed because i dont really need 1, i just need it for the convinence of surfing some net and typing some normal word document.

What would be a price range for such a 2nd handed laptop be @ the above mentioned places?

  2. Hello

i'm from singapore and i just got myself a 60day tourist visa from my home country's thai emb, as i do not wish to be running through borders every 30days, i am thinking of spending 60+30days in thailand which after i will take a flight back to my home country singapore, and apply for another tourist visa.

is it possible/easier for citizens to get tourist visa from thier home country ?

ive check thru the forums and all i see was cases of non-citizens going to embassies which are not located n thier home countries..

any help or opinions will be appriciated!

  3. actually i stayed at bangkok city suite before and sure to say i kindda liked it, but this time it increased to 750 (was 650 previously) so the 100 baht difference kindda makes a big differences when you're staying for a week or more.

Was pretty sure there are other hotels around the 650 range other den just bangkok city within tha area?

just cant seem to find em on the net...

    Thats less than £1.50.

Can Falangs really be that poor/cheap?

    i am not a farang ...

  4. Try a google search for Bangkok City Suite and you will find their website. The cost is 750 baht a night. The rooms are clean and good a/c and if you have a laptop the wireless is free in the room. It is a minimum 10 minute walk to the BTS and more likely 15 minutes unless you dont mind breaking a sweat.

I enjoyed my stay there last year and ended up staying for a month and a half.

    Cheers

  7. How is she getting out of Singapore on the bus - do they not have Immigration on the causeway?

She would have gotten 14 days on entry but can ask for the 30 days either at the port of entry or going to the relevant department - my ex never had a problem with this although they did moan at me to get a proper visa for her to stay long term.

One thing though is Singapore Immigration is very efficient.

I fly out of Changi regularly and my ex used to - there was always Thai girls getting pulled which is a shame but they do look for patterns of visits ie are they working the four floors for two weeks at a time!

i hope tansw2k2001 doesnt mind me saying but i'm certain that's possible by bus out of singapore, pretty much the same way how Burmese and thais get across the borders from the mekong river route :o

and for tansw2k2001's friend not getting the extention would be my guess, she's either had a warning when she came over by the ICA not to get an extention (sensitive issue) but however proceeded to stay on illegally.

getting out of sg via causeway is easier den getting in singapore via couseway... so yeah..

  8. Are you going to marry her?

If you do would she not get straight into Singapore?

What about a long term social visit pass for Singapore - someone told me you had to be living together elsewhere first but the Immigration Advisors my company use told me it would not be a problem for me to get my ex one when we were together??????

yes we are, but that would be a year later due to some other issues.

I will be plannig to go into Oz for job oppotunities and i wish to have her along with me, that's why.

Marriage isnt on the scedule in this year but going to Oz for work is. please advice

  9. The white card u meant is the arrival card..?

If it is and she declared truthfully, Is she still required to pay the overstayed charges that she previously stayed before?

What is the "cooling period" recommended for her to come back to singapore for this whole overstaying issue to cease.

not very sure about the cooling period as there's never a specific rule or term for that.

    yes the arrival card.

however i would suggest she pay the embassy in her country a visit 1st before making the trip. Be honest to the officer and yea i believe she would have to be requireed to pay the overstay charges.

  10. Hello, my girlfrind is from Kengtung, and holding a Union of Myanmar passport, i am thinking of settling down with her outside my own country and hers as well, but as she is of unskilled qualifications, i found it hard to apply for her a long term visa.

anyone knows which country that accepts UnionOfMyanmar pp holders with least hassle of getting a visa?

tried Oz as i could get a job easily there but my gf would have problems with the longterm visa as i cant sponsor her as im not a oz citizen , nor can she apply for a job as she doesnt have much qualification to speak of

    please advise

    thanks

  11. Yes, you are right on that, Jetzie. As long as you can convice the Thai consulate that you are a genuine tourist and do not work illegally in Thailand you can get a tourist visa every 6 months. But how will you make them believe that you are living in Thailand as a tourist for years on end?

    Maestro

i'm a singaporean, looks from the case that when you're in your home country, you wouldnt have much problems recieving tourist visas?

so for me i could arrive in bangkok with a single 60days, and after the extention carry on with border runs, after which i can just return to my country (not that far and cheap if planned ahead with budget airlines) to get a tourist visa.

am i right on that ?

    //Edited by Maestro

Theoretically, yes, but your home country is so close and so easily accessible with the low-cost airlines, why mess around with making border runs from Bangkok? Or was this simply a rhetorical question?

thanks for the reply maestro, as for the border run, it would be more cost efficient to do that once in a while as it might be cheaper to do a border run when i near up-north
