Gents Just FYI.... I just paid a business tax on my house owned "my" Thai Company, it's a 4 bed on Half a Rai in Phuket. Tax was 175thb for the year. Apparently that's with a 90% Covid discount.

For anyone doing the same in the future, 1 year Extension based on Custodian was granted after the 1 month wait.... Phuket Immigration upstairs extremely helpful BTW.

I'm Phuket based, I would say 50% of the accidents here are speed related/tail gating, 50% rain related, some on drugs or M150... and the rest cos the drivers just don't seem to care ! (Where's my calculator....) Always make me wonder why the Cops don't install speed cameras, there apparently 1 or 2 in Phuket, one now and again by the airport tunnel where there's very little traffic. Near where I live they installed a huge over the dual-carriageway metal structure with cameras 1-2 years ago but never switched them on. A friend was killed there by a motorcyclist a few years ago.... Do they not install cameras cos the fines would be automated therefore less opportunity to line their pockets ? That's the only conclusion I can think of.... Well that and they just don't care anyways (Cops and Drivers that is) !

Just a quick update.... After 3 fun visits to Phuket Immigration my Custodian application has now been completed and in the process of being sent off for the 30 day wait to the powers that be. Mr Jolly IO (used to hang out at the Retirement office) assisted me throughout the process and I seriously could not have had a more fun time ! He even paid my 1900thb yesterday and got it from me today ! The German female Volunteer Police was also a pleasure to chat to. On the documents side I ended up taking loads and loads including ... well almost every document to do with me in Thailand : "my" Thai Company that owns my land and house where me and the kids live. Tabiaan Baans, Yellow and Blue Fresh of the press from DBD Companies documents, Rental contracts that never existed before today, hell we even threw in my Pink Id and the kids Thai Id's even though not specified anywhere... And plenty more that are all on the Volunteers list... We got upto about 1cm thick in paperwork and we all know by now, thickness of wad of documents is important ! For fellow Phuketians there's now a new medium size car park inside on the right. The Photo copy shop is 100 yards behind the main building, 2 thb per sheet and looks like they sell Food. If you get locked in after Noon the exit is by the loo's !!!! Education Visa is behind the main building, the IO on his phone cos not "Students" requiring processing. That's quite a good point UJ, sign documents NOT at the bottom cos they do have one BIG stamp that goes over some signatures.... A bit off topic.... At Phuket yesterday, the nice happy IO removed my TN6 and stapled it into another page. The TM6 had been stapled in a week earlier when I transferred stamps to my new passport. My each IO has a personal preference ....

Very easy question I guess, will only take me a couple of minutes to do but do I sign EVERY document submitted ie Even Original Letters and Statements from Banks ? No big deal, just dont want to upset the Phuket IO's on a Monday morning ! Cheers BBJ !

Phuket, But I keep 850k thb in it and also transfer 1000thb a month into it automatically just to keep some transactions in the book when printed !

To answer one of the above questions, I "used" two bank accounts this visit to immigration cos 51 weeks ago I transferred 850K thb to a separate Bangkok Bank account, not to be touched. solely for Retirement Visa purposes. The IO told me to come back in 1 week when the account is 12 months old. I was trying to do things in advance of renewal date on 1st September as I have possible surgery next week and just wanted one less matter in my head to think about. So 2 Bank accounts are allowed but IO don't like that so I'll just go with the flow and return in a week. Hopefully I'll be granted the Custodian Visa which will mean it's all worth it as will only need to show 400k for 1 week prior to Extension Renewal in future and I can use this Extension til my kids are 20 which is circa 10 years away yet....

Just curious on the above, I sort of got rejected today at Immigration when the IO stated my balance was below 800K, even though I showed him my combined balance was over one million if I used both my Bank accounts...

So that begs the question does your 800k thb for retirement have to be in ONE savings account ? If it's in two accounts does that not count ?

Thanks for the tips but I did deposit the 100thb the night before anyways which only takes a minute on the SCB app. I remembered your tip about the machine but the automatic Printing ATM machine at my branch has been bust for a couple of months now ! So when I popped in yesterday morning to get the updated "recent" bank statement they did update their system with the new passport details. I got the 11 month statement, the "recent" statement and letter. Things sort of went OK applying for the Custodian visa EXCEPT the IO couldn't work out that even though I had 1.2Million in two bank accounts, one (SCB) was below 400k THB so he got fixed on that as I had NOT produced a statement from the SCB account. His suggestion was come back in 1 week when my Bangkok Statement would show 12 months of 800K + THB. So interesting point when applying for a Custodian Visa, you only need 400k thb for 1 week prior to application EXCEPT if you're converting from a retirement Visa and then they do check you 400k/800k thb balances for the previous year etc. Well they do in Phuket that is .... And also dont bother using a Bangkok Bank account if you want a 12 month statement !

Hi Gents, So quick update a few weeks on, I used the agent KeyVisa, they did a good job, New UK Passport with me now after 5 weeks. Charged 5,000thb approx. I transferred my Passport Stamps at Phuket Immigration yesterday, one form and copies of Details Page from Old & New passport and every annual Extension. So tomorrow I'll go for "Retirement Extension" as quickest and easiest option (have a few Health issues currently). Quick Question, I'll go to Bangkok Bank first thing tomorrow, they have the previous 12 months statement I ordered a few weeks ago, I'll get another recent statement of the past few weeks also and the Letter from the Bank. So here's my question, The bank balance on the letter will match last entry in the Savings book but the date in the Saving account bank book will be different ie 1 week old. Do I deposit 100thb tonight, tomorrow before new statement and Bank Book update or just leave as is with the last Bank entry being 1 week ago ? Many thanks in anticipation, Johnny...

So I've been on a retirement Visa and am just considering changing my Visa/Extension of stay.... I have sole parental control for my 2 teenage Thai/British children, both have Thai/UK passports. As myself and the Thai mother were never married I did have the Court document stating I was also the father. Both kids have my surname and passports in that surname etc. A few years ago I did get a Guardian type Visa but the IO at Phuket Immigration was livid for some reason that I wouldn't go for a Retirement Visa, maybe (I seem to recall) that it had to get approved from Bangkok and he had to type out an extra form on an old dusty and rusty typewriter. He kept telling me in a loud voice "You difficult man, you difficult man".! I've got 2 months til my current extension expires so will go down to immigration and enquire but just wondered if any other BMs had tried in Phuket (or other provinces) to get a Guardian/Dependant Visa and if so how they got on/ Documents required. Thinking out loud here, comments welcome, ps I live in Phuket ! So My Retirement Visa Extension of stay is due on 1st September. My British Passport expires 16th March 2022 I had my first AZ Vaccination in Phuket today, 2nd shot scheduled for 17th September I seem to recall one needs 12 months left on your Passport to get Extension of stay renewal or you just get extended until the Passport expires. I dont want to fly to Bangkok cos nothings open AND if you pick up the Rona whilst away, on entering Phuket it'll be 2 weeks in a hospital. So use an agent to obtain new Passport renewal at VFS, any Agent recommendations please and how long does it take ? So Get new passport via Agent, swap Immigration stamps/extension etc at Phuket Immigration, renew Extension of stay in August, Get 2nd AZ jab in September.... Easy Peasy Lemon etc etc.... Am I missing something, looks a cunning plan, any "Pro Tips" etc etc ? Thanks in Advance. BBJ.... Plan B was keep Passport here, September extend at Immigration until March 2020, get the AZ 2nd Jab, get new passport Q4 2021 or Q1 2022, extend Extension to stay for One year in March 2021....
