  1. The right hands are law abiding, mentally sound individuals. Doesn't matter where they live.
  2. But I do recall 24 children, and 12 adults being killed by an ex cop two years ago. Thai news doesn't cover every shooting that happens. American news, meaning local for every state, covers much more because there are multiple networks in each state There are shootings here every day. News here, like I mentioned, covers far less than America's news does. I lived in the US for 62 years, and know full well what goes on there to this day. More people, more crime. https://eastasiaforum.org/2023/12/13/thailands-growing-gun-problem/
  3. Although there is truth in what you say, mass shootings are the result of mental illness, and it doesn't take a semi auto to kill many people. Someone with two handguns and multiple magazines can shoot many until he's stopped. Semi autos are used for hunting, although aren't really necessary. Some just like the semi auto. Target shooters like them for fun. If you need a quick follow up shot after hitting an animal, a semi can shoot faster than all others besides full autos, which are for the most part illegal to own. It is sad that some children are killed with handguns kept in a home. That's the responsibility of the gun owners, keeping them out of reach ,sight or possession of children. As far as suicide, owning a gun only makes it easier for the time being. People who are going to commit suicide will do it in many ways, including my best friend who used carbon monoxide. It might give them more time to think if they aren't in possession of a gun, but if they've made their minds up.......... A gun stored in a home, with children living there, can be reached if it is put in a place where only the owner, or mate, knows where it is. I as a gun owner wish there were safer ways, but if there are guns, there will always be irresponsible people who have some of them.
  4. Out of touch I see. Imagine a world where only criminals had weapons, including terrorists. Can't keep weapons away because they will always exist. Weapons in the right hands are why we , meaning most of us, are living in a free world.
  5. It's what I consider loving the outdoors. You can't know what I feel nor understand it because you aren't for hunting. I don't often injure anything, preferring to ensure I make a killing shot that doesn't let the animal suffer. Sometimes taking home meat means most of the time I just like to sit and enjoy seeing the animals, along with other animals, in their natural habitat. The same way I assume you enjoy the outdoors without sometimes killing.
  6. News here doesn't tell but a tiny percentage of what goes on. In America, there are thousands of TV stations that cover everything. Gun crime is big news everywhere, but here most of the news is about people robbing gold stores, snakes in houses in Bangkok, monks gone bad, and daily road accidents, along with news that wouldn't be news anywhere in the US, meaning not noteworthy.
  7. No, guns, besides those for hunting and target shooting, are for protection against weak people who can't fight, or want what you have. The same as here with 5 against 1, and carrying machetes and sticks.
  8. I do, and have won many times, but never more than $1000 USD. Here no luck yet. Trust me, Texas isn't like what you might have heard about it. It's like I mentioned. Of course there is crime, but mostly in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio .
  9. I use all firearms but usually, and for the last 5 or more years, a bow then a crossbow.
  10. No, not for fun. It's hunting, experiencing the outdoors and sometimes bringing home game to eat.
  11. I'm guessing you don't know that Thailand has about as much gun crime per capita as the US, and almost all of it is involving Thais, illegal guns, drugs, gangs and the like, just as other countries like America, just on a slightly smaller scale. Even mass shooting happen here.
  12. It's never a good idea to assume you know much about another country without spending a lot of time there. I lived in Texas for 32 years, never carried a handgun, sold guns for a living, and never saw any crime where someone used one. Daily, driving many miles, night and day, small towns, big towns and country, filling up on gas at night, never had any trouble whatsoever.
  13. In your mind it is wrong, but to the millions of hunters and meat eaters, it is normal. And Trump's mind isn't easy to understand because he's a very disturbed billionaire.
  14. It must be hard for you to understand the mind of a hunter, being one who thinks we are sick for hunting, and eating , the game we shoot. Are you a meat eater? If so, you might want to check out how your meals are kept, and then killed. If a vegetarian, then I'm sorry you will never understand this. We don't kill for fun, at least the majority of hunters. We are in the woods to enjoy life in it's purest form. We don't kill every time we go. If we kill, we have the meat processed and then either have meals for us or family and friends, or we donate to homeless shelters so they can have something to eat.
  15. Many years hunting and owning rifles, shotguns, bows and crossbow. All for hunting. Sold guns for years with federal license in sporting good store. Wanted a handgun for hunting but never got around to it. Had one Smith & Wesson .357, gave it to my brother. When I return to Texas, will probably buy a handgun or two.
  16. Understandable. They ask for links they can easily find, and are always trying to argue just for the sake of, instead of looking for knowledge they might not yet have attained.
  17. I'm only stuck in the right ways, and they aren't given a timetable, as manners and doing the right thing are timeless. I would defend anyone being abused by someone stronger, especially if they are innocent, again using common sense if they are armed with a gun. I know , especially here, if you see a woman being abused by a man, getting involved might be a very wrong thing, as sometimes the woman will hit you also, so you have to be smart, but most times everyone around needs to get involved, although many do not bother. A transexual is still a man, and might be stronger than you, but again, if they are in a fight that is definitely one sided. You hitting a drunk woman is all I need to know where your thinking is, as some are only looking for an excuse to hit a woman. A man walks away. Tired of hearing "woke" as an excuse for anything, as it doesn't match much of what's being said. And sexist is the opposite of what I am, if you haven't figured that out by now. I don't discriminate against anyone because I believe all are equal, even if they are loonies.
  18. It doesn't matter what you identify yourself as. It is what it is, you are what you are. There are a multitude of books written by narcissists and mentally disturbed individuals that are followed by people who think they are right. A man is someone who makes people around them comfortable, and will defend them if needed, and also will not hit a woman, child or anyone weaker than he is. A boy is someone who has yet to be taught or hasn't yet learned restraint or how to treat a woman and others weaker than him. If a man decides to identify as a woman, that's their right. if they are weaker than you, you help them. Doesn't matter if they are a man or a woman.
  19. I'm not a white knight,as if that exists. I would defend any woman who was being abused by a man with discretion in place, man armed, women armed etc. If I hit my ex who was coming at me with a knife I wouldn't go to jail. Self defense is self defense anywhere, but avoiding an attack is very easy if they aren't carrying a gun. If someone tries to hit you, you are legally allowed to defend yourself, meaning blocks, avoiding the hit or walking away. If they keep coming, you restrain if it's a woman. If they are stronger than you, as some women are to some men, you defend yourself any way you can. I'm not saying it's wrong to defend and black, push away etc. I'm saying if you have any chance to get away, you go, and hitting some woman who's easily avoided is wrong, as is hitting them because you are mad.
  20. One of the most honest posts I've seen here, and happens to be pretty true. Without the cash they are likely to dash.
  21. Let them be what they want. You don't have to deal with anyone who is a narcissist, looney or a misogynist. You walk away. For what my ex wife did to me, and the mind of my daughter, she deserved to be decked, but if I did that, it would have proved to everyone around her that I'm just like other farangs who beat their wives. They all respect me and think she's nuts. If you hit a woman, you're not a man, period. That's a boy that was never taught respect for a woman.
  22. Old school, as he , I and most farangs are, doesn't mean times were any different. Hitting a woman is always wrong. If they hit you, you defend yourself and restrain them until they stop. If you can't restrain them, you walk away, unless they are hitting a child. Then you protect that child by taking them away from harm. Women and girls are still and always will be ladies, if they grow up taught respect. Not having a father figure doesn't help a girl growing up. They haven't been taught how to relate to men. I was hit by my ex, for nothing, and she came at me with a knife three times. All I did was defend myself and either step back or restrain her until she stopped. Hitting them proves to them what pigs some men are. If they aren't ladies, walk away. I've seen women hit night club personnel. All they did was restrain and remove.
  23. The farangs I know here aren't what you describe but I know some are. Going by what you read here isn't a good idea. Many are liars, hypocrites and prejudiced yes, but that's still a minority compared to the amount of farangs that live here. There are many many locals that act the same way but I know a few personally that are good down to earth people. Really doesn't matter because what you want won't happen. People are here for many reasons, and as it is in all other countries, some are here to hurt and some are here to love. Prejudice never is a good idea, nor is racism. Only one life to live and wasting your time hating for no reason only hurts yourself. No shortage of maniacs on earth. Just look at the world leaders we have.
  24. Domestic violence won't stop until all homes have at least one stable parent that teaches the value of life. Two of course are better, and having the other parent around to teach helps immeasurably. Children learn a lot from their peers, especially if the parents are absent or not involved. In this culture, and most Asian cultures, men dominate, looking at women as secondary. This posture leads to demeaning behavior and sometimes violence. Women looked at as equals by their men leaves less room for this demeaning behavior, and more communication. Every person that treats a woman good rubs off. Children see it in homes, and others see it in public, at least part of the time. People gossip, especially here, and that talk can be better if the men would do a better job treating the women equally. This has gone on for generations and won't change for a long time. These asinine lakorns make some men look like heroes and some as demons. It actually matches real life in many ways, with the exception of less heroes and more demons. Anyone can speak out against domestic violence. Not doing anything makes it easier to happen. Women should never take a beating. It only leads to more. The same with men, as some are abused by women. Kids see mom , or dad, get hit, and they think it's normal, and they'll follow in their own relationships.
