They're grown in Thailand. Unless there's a particular strain that can not for some reason. Do you have any spare land to try and grown your own even as maybe a hobby?

I enquired in the mid 90's about the same thing for my step-daughter who was about 10 years old at the time. There was an office somewhere around Victory Monument, Bangkok on Rachathevi Rd that informed me of the documents and process needed. I was told it could take a few years as home visits by officials would have to be done several times. Can't recall all the criteria but I remember that I had to have a certain amount money and an address in Thailand. I wanted her to have my name to show that there was no love lost between her and my own two kids who where younger. I feared that she might think that I loved my own kids more with having to show them more attention with being younger. When she found out she wasn't particularly bothered and she's kept her surname ever since. She's 38 yo now and I still think of her as my own daughter.

So "when in Rome" we should crucify 20,000 Christians? ???? But I do agree regarding laws, rules, regulations, customs etc. And covid or not, wearing a mask doesn't bother me. Probably helps with filtering the dust and pollution in the air anyway. Plus it's cheaper than getting fined for not wearing one.

No idea of any percentage but I think a lot of people will be lax as the government have been half-hearted with restrictions from the very beginning. Foreigners coming to Thailand have to jump through hoops with insurance, tests and COE's but Thais can just jump onto a plane without too much of a fuss. Possibly it was hi-so Thais skipping tests and quarantines that brought in the covid strains and not immigrants crossing borders. Look at how easy it was for a Surin MP to pass the virus onto Prayut in Phuket.

Thailand’s national police chief is worth 104 million baht

Let's not forget too that the spoils from corruption goes upwards. He may be the top honco in the police force, but then the police is a branch of the army. So he'll have a superior in the army to whom he'll have to appease on a monthly basis. -

I had relatives who returned back to England after living in Spain for several years and remember them saying. "It's one thing to go somewhere for a holiday but it's entirely different to go and live there." So I remembered that advice when I first went to my wife's village in Nakhon Phanom and I was in a "Wow!! I want to live here the rest of my life" phase. So I gave myself a year of living there before deciding whether to buy land and then build a house. After only 3-4 months of living there I realised it wasn't the life for me. Nor did I want to live in the heart of Bangkok when I found work there. I rented a townhouse in a muuban on the outskirts of BKK for over a year and realised I'd found what I was looking for. The village was surrounded (at the time) by green fields and was on the city's doorstep. A nice fusion of up-country and big city living. Since then I've known a handful of guys who've tried to settle down here only to end up pulling up stakes and returning to their homeland. Whether for them they decided to leave in a bout of jadedness or they've had personal problems back home, I'll never know. But for those who think about pulling up roots back home and coming here to live I'd advise them to do a trial run first. Try long holidays first, i.e. months at a time instead of a couple of weeks here or a couple of weeks there. And never burn any bridges if you can help it. They'll burn themselves over time. -

Then recall some time later when 2 Thais in Issan tried to copy the Koh Tao murders by trying to bash in the head of a German guy with mattocks. -
