  1. Maybe he was crazy cause he just found out his lady used to be a man lol

very well could be, but his erratic and violent behavior in public justified his restraint and perhaps blood tests to see what if anything he was taking, in order to effect some relief.

random drug screens of residents or tourists casually walking down the street, be it for shopping dining or drinking is however a rather serious invasion of privacy.

Why is it an invasion of privacy,

drugs are illegal and if you have not partaken what is the problem???

  2. How is the EP program at Darasamuth vs. Kajonkiet ? K3-P6..... Don't really like the location of the new Kajonkiet. Comments please !

This is the topic so why are we discussing universities, and international schools anyway, the poster was after feedback of what parents who had children at Darasamut school thought the education was like.

  3. If a child is of mixed nationality, it would be useful to give the child the choice of working in either country, yes?

No chance of a good job, never mind an actual career in the developed world if all they have is a Thai secondary education.

Critical thinking is not part of the curriculum.

Who has said anything about only having a thai secondary education.

The thai universities and thai persons studying overseas are not all students from international schools.

  4. I have a son who went right through the EP at darasamuth. He did his two years in KG in thai then was straight into EP the year it started.

He has now just finished his second year at Satree in their EP.

He speaks reads and writes english like a native speaker, and was able to before starting secondary school so I believe Darasamuth did a good job.

I see someone complaining about exams, I believe these are necessary although western culture as moved away from this. Once you leave school and enter the workforce you are rated and judged by your peers on ability to do your job so getting used to this from a young age through testing is appropiate.

As for the international schools, they are more designed for expats rotated incountry for work as they only teach english.

I live in thailand, my son lives in thailand so I believe it is essential that he learns Thai and about the thai culture.

  5. I saw one at night flying through the lights from my balcony. The missus argued and told me it was just a bat. She had to eat her words within a month when she found one in the garden. I have since seen them again but not that frequently in phuket

  6. As yet I havn't tried the boat lagoon, I have a 6.5m powered cat and when am at home have been putting it in the marina and bringing it home when offshore.

    The asia marine ramp is at 7 52 32.97N 98 25 04.84E

    The public ramp is at 7 52 26.63N 98 24 54.29E

  7. There is a Ramp at the asia marina on Koh sire, Please let me know what you find out as I could be interested as well. There is also a public ramp (500bt) on the other side of the sire bridge on the road to where the tour boats leave from. They are both visable on google earth.

The only problem with this area is that you have to tow your boat thru the centre of phuket to get there.

I also have heard there is a boat ramp at the end of soi Palai, the zoo soi, but havn't checked it out yet. My problem is I need quite a bit of water to launch and retrieve so am limitted where i can go, this obviously cuts out chalong and rawai, I have been using Ao Por but it is a long boatride to get to deep water.

  8. lots of fishing shops around on the island, and all the ones i have been to are reasonably priced, they mostly cater to locals so the price is reasonable.

As for rocck fishing, i havnt done it for years, there were always too many small reef fish and too much coral so you spent all day tying on new hooks.

  9. Safeway builds transportable buildings in phuket, do a websearch, i have seen there website before.

Also there is a place that sells the small teakwood style of houses on chao fa road.

Here is yesterdays catch, also hooked onto several longtoms but with no success.

Not sure of the type of grouper or cod, but better than the norm around phuket, or where I have been anyway. These were all caught in the same spot in about 8m of water, during the middle of the day. I launched at Ao Por at 930am and was back on the trailer by 500pm

  11. Another good day out today. 3 longtoms, biggest 1metre, 4 good sized estuary cod and 4 kilos of squid. plus an assortment of other smaller things that the mil gets to keep her happy.

Thanks mcfalang for the ballon idea, unfortuanately didnt manage to have any balloons but used a float and managed to land 3 of the 4 strikes I had with longtoms. They are great fun on light gear especially the big ones.

Sea was a bit choppy this morning on the way out to my spot, about a good hours run from the ramp, but well worth the effort. Had sttled down a lot by the time we headed back, so a fast trip back.

  12. Out yesterday, towards the phi phi area, dont want to be too specific as to where.

Another good day out, got amongst the longtoms, heaps of them around and even managed to land a few.

Got a good selection ao estuary cod, a bit bigger size than previous trips. Then later on in the afternoon got amongst some squid, lots of good sized one out there.

Was a good trip, even if I didnt get the boat into the water until 11am.

    Tight lines

    Big Guy,

Good to her some reports of other areas and I agree Big Longtoms are great fun on light tackle we do it with a deadbait and a Balloon drifting close into the islands, occasionaly will hook up to a GT or a Barracuda and if we are very lucky the chance of a small sail.

I am back on 21st providing I can get through Europe from Angola with this Volcano Crap everywhere.

Pop on down to the Rawai Beach IGFA Fishing Club for a beer with me, Jay and the guys if you have the time.

Keep up the reports great for guys away from home looking forward to getting back in the water.

Thanks neill, am keen to head down for a few coldies, just a matter of convincing the cook as its quite a drive back to kathu and I dont mind a few drinks.

I am keen on heading out to the racha islands but launching is a problem at that end of the island, on low tides anyway.

I have just found a good public boatramp at rasada, 500bt and is run by the local government.

Hope to catch up with the club soon, but unfortunately awaiting the phonecall for the next contract, so could be leaving anytime. Let me know when you are back and if i am still here I will come down for a few bevvies and and to compare a few notes on fishing.
