How to negotiate repairs in no-fault crash
Al BB replied to cheeryble's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I have Type 1 Insurance; Bike ran into the back of me last Saturday, Young guy not paying attention. When the Insurance guy turned up, it was all was sorted in 20 Minutes. The young guy didnt have any insurance and had to Pay 7000 Baht to my Insurance Co. Insurance guy asked if I wanted him to pay for my car being off the road for 3 days. As with the OP I let him off. Car being repaired at Main Dealers next week. -

Al BB replied to Cardano's topic in Western Food in Thailand
I bought a bag of "HAPPY PRICE" at BigC (Reduced to 89Baht /Kg) and they cooked up pretty well in the Air Fryer. Had street Party on Saturday and the Thais, and me, Loved em. Tried loads of different "brands" will stick with these now for sure. -

Im calling this a load of Poo Poo ! We stayed in Bankrut and our Resort was 50% Occupied when we arrived on the 29th. NEVER in our 6 day stay did it exceed 50% and, I might add, that there were ony 4 (Farang) couples, the rest were locals. These local only stayed one night as well. Some resorts closed early due to low/no Bookings, as for Restaurants etc must have been dire for them! We were there in June at a friends funeral and it seemed busier then!

Alcohol Wholesalers Hit By Weak Holiday Season Sales
Al BB replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nice one Bob! Maybe they should try that model, instead of putting prices UP when business is bad! .......Import Duty on Wine needs looking at too......300% (?) These sort of Duty rates are used in other countries to protect their own Industries/Products. Not sure how big the Thai Wine Industry is, but for sure Monsoon Winery Prices are about the same as Imported, from what I have seen in their Hua Hin outlet. -
Thank you Sheryl.

I agree ! Strange that my 4 (Local) Pharmacies don't stock it though. Next visit I will ask for a Prescription. Maybe there is a "generic" equivalent.

What Meds are you on , if you don't mind me asking? I have been put on Amlodipine/Valsartan since June of this year and my BP has been in "normal" range ever since. (High was 175/90 as an example). I do monitor it daily. Age 80 and next visit to cardiologist is Feb. One thing is the Cost of the above, 130 Tabs cost B8,737.00 at the Hospital.

Subsidy approved to discourage sugarcane farmers from burning canes
Al BB replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The Gov lifted the Import Duty on Sugar Cane Harvesters which is a help, BUT, wouldn't the Purchase of more be better than buying Subs , Frigates and Jet Fighters ? As a footnote; This Gov seems to have Billions and Billions of Baht available for Projects, some of which, for one reason or another, will probably never see the light of day. IMO, the Financial implications of buying more Harvesters to loan, let or purchase are few. But as mentioned here, different grower face different problems. -
I bought an ALPHAMED Upper Arm Monitor from Lazada and use it daily. The "cuff" range is 24 to 42Cms.

Feral cats have damaged my car for the 3RD TIME last night. Our soi is full of them, there must be at least 12. The neighbours keep feeding them. The issue is as follows; FEMALE Cat on heat, Climbs under the bonnet of my car, and sits on top of the engine. (Misubishi Xpander BTW) TOM CATS come and try to get at the FEMALE . This is just one image to show the sort of damage. I have now threatened to kill the bastards, but the Mrs says the Police would get involved and I would be arrested. I am thinking of having a "Sump Guard" of sorts to stop them getting in?? Any ideas on preventing them?? Mrs keeps putting "mothballs" down , but it aint working. I bought an electric Cat deterrent device from Lazada, but sent it back when a cat looked at it and walked past it , Useless.

Thanks ! Just to outline the stupidity even further, The 1st time I applied, my sisiter in law, who is a Lawyer, came with me as one of my "Witnesses", She had to correct errors, the "officer" had made. Maybe thats on file, and marked against me. Who knows.

Good for you, and for Issan. Here is my experience today at Chom Thong, Bangkok. Arrived with wife and 2 witnesses. Current PP, Old PP with Letter from Embassy; Kor Ror 3; Blue Book; Wifes ID; 3 Photos; TM30; Wifes Declaration, Translations of all Marriage Docs from MFA; Refused; Me-Can I ask why? "I WANT PASSPORT GUARANTEE LETTER from British Embassy, or I not issue Yellow Book". Me -You have this from British Embassy, "I WANT PASSPORT GUARANTEE LETTER from British Embassy, or I not issue Yellow Book. Me - OK Forget it. This is the 3rd Time I have applied (Twice Pre Covid) and 3rd time refused for a DIFFERENT reason. Now, as far as I am concerned, a Yellow Book is not an essential for MY stay here in Thailand., all I ever need (Even Posting a Letter) is my PP. As @Arick says " Why Bother".. well I agree, but, the Mrs has been banging on about getting one , and now its finally put to bed, it aint goin to happen ! ???? Looks like I'll need a Divorce Lawyer , LOL
