  1. I'm making up for lost time. ???? Hopefully, over time, prices will come down and quality increase (but no complaints, so far). Amsterdam is my measure stick as I've managed to find cannabis utopia on more than a few occasions but always too stoned to remember what and where I bought it.
  2. Let's look at it from another angle (not that I believe this story, anyway). Even a dupe Rolex has value to a thief but they'd never be certain of authenticity without a professional valuation.
  3. This practice doesn't rest well with Western sensibilities but has been going on forever and will continue to do so. Falang will never influence anything here so no point trying but still a fantastic holiday destination. Don't mix business with pleasure and all's well for Johnny Foreigner.
  4. What constitutes horrendously expensive versus getting squashed by a truck?
  5. I've already explained myself. Let's see what happens next week and thereafter then you'll understand if the situation descends into total chaos. You're still not listening.
  6. Nearly all the major banks on the planet still use fax machines. Trust me. But... https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-63472371
  7. It would be easier and safer to pass the Thai driving test and rent/purchase a car. I'll get on the back of my wife's motorbike but no one else's and only for getting around town and no major roads.
  8. I'm not interested in Thai politics because a) I'm not Thai; b) I can't speak Thai; and c) I'm not interested in politics. Although, my Thai wife (and long-time UK citizen) is interested in Thai politics and for reasons of their own, my wife and MiL are Prayut voters. I don't get involved and just nod in agreement like a good husband. What I'm trying to say is - and entirely selfishly - I prefer the general peace and quiet since 2014 over the potential for turmoil after next week's election.
  9. Probably best check your family tree. ????
  10. Only aussies do that. ????
  11. F/X means to convert GBP to THB, aka foreign exchange. I hope this helps.
  12. It depends how the funds are sent and I don't send funds to Bangkok Bank through my UK bank as too expensive. And no bank uses fax to transfer funds and never has. I currently use a company called Xendpay and they only transfer funds by Swift so usual 2-4 days but I used to use Azimo and they were able to make instant transfers (for a small additional fee, of course). But if there's a public holiday in either UK and/or LoS (including weekend public holidays in LoS) then one is not able to make an instant transfer anyway. Notwithstanding, I don't need to make instant transfers as happy to wait.
  13. 1, 4 and 5 May were bank holidays and weekends don't count. So in answer to the OP, I would expect you'll receive funds on your account later today or tomorrow. 1 May was also bank holiday in UK so funds wouldn't have been f/x'd and sent to LoS until 2 May.
  14. The closest you'll get to business class is to book premium seats on AirAsia and pre-book a meal. It sort of feels the same on a short domestic flight.
  15. In fairness, Grab taxis aren't expensive and readily available.
  16. I hope it doesn't kick off. That's all I'm saying. ????
  17. I'm not sure facial recognition is ready for my aesthetic beauty.
