No... But look at the space on the open 3 lane highway (photo from the Op re-posted below).

It looks as though the photo is taken from a dash-cam, so I guess a video is out there somewhere. If it is the case that the Ambulance tried to undertake (overtake on the left (semantics)) then the tool riding the motorcycle really needs to end up in jail.

With regards to the legality of undertaking - Emergency vehicles may be exempt. Besides, in an emergency who cares about the law. Those arguing the legality of undertaking, or the semantics of the phrase undertaking vs overtaking on the left are just being particularly obtuse and missing the point.

A few years back my Wife was unwell... I bundled her in the car and drove to Samitivej, it was 9am, busy gridlock traffic.

Hazard lights on, I didn’t care for regulations, I forced my way through busy red light junctions and any gap that I could to get through the traffic.. any regard for the law went out of the window.

The same happened more recently, Father In Law collapsed in a restaurant (I thought stroke), we were 500m from Samitivej hospital (again), I bundled him in the car and got him to the emergency room as quickly as we could, no need for seatbelts etc (which some would argue, is illegal !!!).

The point being, that in an emergency you do whatever you can wherever you can regardless of the law so long as you are not placing yourself or innocent others in physical danger.

I’m not sure the ambulance driver did this in this case.

How do you know 'the tool' was n't weaving all over the road preventing the ambulance to pass?

This could be said about any nationalities not only Thai. Even in Europe or US staff who paid at or under the minimum wage will jump boat at next chance.

You are correct but it seems to be a lot more prevalent here from what i've seen.

    Obviously not all are loyal.

I know two bar owners who took care of many problems of their staff (over years). An operation paid, keeping old women on the payroll, etc. Many of their employees are loyal.

Not what i've experienced ( in general ) in my 20 years here.

The gym is Phayao has been one of the safest places to be. They wipe the entire place down before opening then keep cleaning thru out the day. The people there are some of the most healthy in town. So, yeah, lets close it down. Brilliant.

I am already sick and tired of this insane hysteria. The virus is bad but the solutions may be many times worse. Something is going on that we do not understand yet. Soon it will become more clear.

I'm heading there next week for a night or two, can you tell me name and location of this gym pls.

    Thanks.

  6. I have similar trip to yours, West Africa to Thailand via DXB.

DXB was business as normal although much quieter which is to be expected, BKK airport very quiet, no additional forms to be filled in, zapped with a temp gun at BKK that was it.

This however was 12/03/20 and things have worsened a fair bit since then.

Don't fancy being stuck in Angola - yuk.

I currently have friends stuck in Saudi / Kuwait / Ghana - full day rate tho!

Take adequate precautions, wear a mask, dont touch any surfaces, if you do, use hand sanitizer.(carry a tube in your pocket or wifes bag)

I wouldnt eat or drink anything from there either.

    Just a suggestion.

Oh, and tell the wife to make small offering to spirits at that little house in the garden before you go. ????

Not worth going if he's gonna follow your advice is it?

I'd just go and have a good time, the BIG man has a path for each of us!

I think that’s a valid point, up to a point. I handle Thai Road Fatality statistics in much the same manner that you have suggested, automatically removing 76% of motorcyclists, plus other factors, night driving on dark roads out side of the city etc when evaluating the risk I take when driving.

But, the covid-19 risk is to everyone, not just me. I’m already at piece with the risk I personally face with Covid-19, but I worry for my parents who are 80 and obviously at greater risk of serious complications should they contract the virus.

So when considering the risks on a national or global scale, the aggregate numbers are what we are dealing with. Thus, when the statistics show the potential growth the numbers in global terms are quite overwhelming.

When recognising these numbers I can understand why the governments are acting in the manner they are [closing borders].

It is for this reason I have felt compelled to contribute in this thread to counter the ‘brave’ souls who seem not to be worried about this virus and plan on travelling freely, they seem not to care about the risks they present to others, they seem selfish.

Can you pls tell us what your plan is?

You're going to remain at home with no human contact for how long?

Apologies, not idiots...  they’re just people who are choose not to avail themselves of factual information before drawing an opinion.... why let the facts get in the way of a bit of bravado?

I too was of the opinion that this was just 'hysteria driven hysteria’, I based my opinion on selective information and conformation bias. However, in keeping an open mind the more I have educated myself on past outbreaks and compared them to the facts (so far) from this current Covid-19 outbreak I have had to accept that my initial ‘they’re all panicking over nothing’ opinion was wrong.

The statistics tell us what is happening, the experts use these statistics to analysis the potential of this virus and the potential is frightening. The video below outlines the exponential growth of this outbreak so far, at the moment do not know at which numbers the growth rate will start to drop off.

i will use this for falling asleep at nights - thanks for that.

    Good morning FFF.

    Not stop test in February.

    Have more confirm since then.

i say one month ago Thai people have strong immunity systems. Is true. But everyone mock me, so I not repeat (now repeat). Boring to argue.

When foreigner come thailand many sick easily, direa, stomach pain etc. Snowflake. Thai is very strong. Not need aircon, hot shower etc.

And hot weather help. Very hot now. It 40.

Some TVF member say 6 week ago, so many Thai will die etc. Panic

But it NOT happen. Yinn correct. Again.

The number thai have corona is more than government number. Sure. Every country the same. Sure.

But thai people NOT die same the TVF snowball say will happen. (Read the thread 6 weeks ago, gee)

The government can not hide dead people, can not control the family of dead people, can not control the doctor, can not control social media. If many die, Yinn will know. Sure.

The thai guy die very weak, because dengue.

i understand most TVF is elderly foreigner. (Over 60) Many bad health. Many fat. Many smoke.

So = should be careful. I understand why worry.

But some member is crazy about this corona. One member make 16 thread already. 1000 corona post. For what? Panic.

Foreigner die in Thailand because coronavirus = 0. Is true fact.

More die drown, road crash. Is true fact.

I not like the government. But TVF say the government hide dead people. Is wrong.

The BIG story in Thailand now is Boy and “officials” force the mask factory give them the mask= hospital not get mask= and Boy can sell for big profit. Make Yinn angry. So angry this story.

The Facebook page who show this problem 6 days ago, yesterday Prayuts team go there to try make them stop. Because “over information”

Thai people not strong, wind change direction - sick / too hot - sick / too cold - sick / too much rain - sick / not enough rain -sick.

Yeah, Kuwait, a real leader in the world, and Qatar too! I doubt the world should follow the lead of these two little Emirates.

What makes you think the situation in Thailand is not as reported? Are you in Thailand right now or watching the television? You are fear mongering.

    They're not Emirate states.

But UAE residents are also banned from coming to Thailand.

    They're paranoid of the infidels.

  12. Emirates is the same, to use miles to upgrade from cattle to biz DXB to BKK used to be about 45000, not it's just shy of 70000.

I do see the flight prices dropping recently as expected, 2 pax BKK to EDI return in Biz in August is approx 150K which is very reasonable.
