  1. Have found Sharp units under 3k to be both very effective, high air flow, low noise and easy to obtain filters. And use 24 hours a day without issues.
  2. Are you serious - there is no circulation of air to the outside with a two piece air conditioner unit. The old USA style window units had such (although not much) - they have not been used here for decades. What goes outside is the hot coolant into fan coils and outside air is forced through to cool the coolant which returns to absorb more heat from inside.
  3. Not sure of your issue as if using retirement you do not have to be married and the requirement has been proof of 65k per month income into a Thai bank account for US for several years now so would have expected you to be doing that. There is no requirement for it to be a government pension or direct deposited (unless this is your IO). Perhaps the amount of income required for retirement is the issue and you are planning to change to marriage extensions - thus the need to get marriage officially registered in Thailand. As you say you are taking care of that and it will be a one time thing (although marriage extensions will require a bit more paperwork each year).
  4. Actually Wise allows automatic transfers on a set date each month (next work day if weekend) and have been using for a year or two. Nothing to remember as I scheduled the transfers several days after retirement payment is made into source account. Get 2 day advance notice in case want to cancel the transfer.
  5. Actually the requirement is income of 65k per month and such a letter from your Consulate is the normal proof. New alternative (as several of largest nations no longer issue letter) is proof of 65k per month transferred into a Thai bank account.
  6. My meaning was you had better have the patience of Job for most things in the PI. Things move at a slow pace and often requires books of paperwork. Type B may be able to cope - Type A will be in crisis.
  7. The money is in your account and available for medical or other needs if required - but you will not be able to renew your extension of stay for retirement if you have to use - you could still extend for medical treatment if ongoing or start the retirement extension process again.
  8. Yes but you had better have a type B personality as the regulations for most things it like going from the frying pan into the fire and general development and living conditions is well behind Thailand.
  9. Sorry - indeed it was Liquorice post - and then you came back saying you had returned on new passport using a visa.
  10. I am referring to a new passport obtained within the country - which with the requirement to have transfer made prior to any new immigration stamps was my concern with a passport obtained outside Thailand - you advised no issue using re-entry so that eased concern (that he might return and not be allowed entry on extension of stay) - but expect a notation of original visa entry information and last extension information will be required at some point, just as it is for replacement passports issued in Thailand.
  11. AFAIK they will not provide a new extension of stay without transfer of original visa information and last extension of stay information into the new passport. Although they may do in one sitting.
  12. My meaning was poster advised having received new passport in UK and on arrival Thai immigration accepted re-entry permit as they would a visa and entered stay in new passport. As this is not the same as a multi entry visa was concerned immigration might require visa/extension information in new passport (as is the requirement inside Thailand) prior to placing any new stamps in it.
  13. Indeed from sales advertising on Lazada appears to be home brand of a chain.
  14. In most cases increased price is nothing more than a thinner lens for vanity rather than substance.
  15. Actually getting a doctors eye exam/prescription and having them check the supplied glasses should be done - if not very close to being the same expect that information can be presented to store and some consideration might be provided.
  16. Looks like a defective pickup to me. Overload normally just lifts the front off the ground - also happened all the time when they were primary transport vehicles upcountry and people were standing on rear extensions.
  17. Have automatic payments on 2nd of month of about 85,000 baht - 2 Feb 0822 advised money added to Wise account from my bank account. 2 Feb 0854 advised Baht on way to Thai account. 02 Feb 1400 Baht credited to my Bangkok Bank account as FTT. Everything normal.
  18. Read the bottom line on a TM47 form: https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/Form-TM-47.pdf
  19. Thanks - that was what I wanted OP to have - a real experience.
  20. Actually not all shops will even have an optometrist (this is a new degree field for Thailand) so best to make sure if using a shop.
  21. You do not use an optician to obtain a prescription (I hope).
  22. Might want to visit an actual doctor at a hospital setting and get prescription and then order from Zenni for about 3,000 baht? At least if you don't like you have not lost anywhere near as much money and if have medical issues they will likely be found and treated.
  23. There is nothing in the new passport to extend is my take (until transfer of original visa information and current extension of stay is made) - a visa entry does not require paperwork in new passport but expect re-entry could.
