  1. As said above - but each time involves paperwork as was the case the first time - only thing not required is a new visa/entry. But same proof of qualifications required every year (and they may change a bit by the officer performing the extension of stay). Wife will have to be with you each time and there will be a 30 day under review period.
  2. Which, if my math is right (often is not) makes the average amount about 1.3 million baht per officer. Wiki puts officers between 210,700 and 230,000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Thai_Police Other sources place one million baht debit at less that 14% of total individuals. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-06-30/why-thais-have-high-household-debt-and-why-it-s-risky?embedded-checkout=true
  3. His nick originally came from his taste for Jok from my understanding - suspect the 'e' was added when he trained outside Thailand where "jok" had no meaning.
  4. And lower financial requirements - but need a wife and some additional paperwork plus 30 day under review each year.
  5. Read Stocky above post - it seems USD is the odd man out where fee increase becomes more than the higher exchange rate quickly for larger transfers.
  6. So she will declare money as hers. Seems I was wrong on cost of Wise (as only use USD) and that from Euro should be fine and guess no money trail required (unless Thai authorities question your daughters source of funds.
  7. The Consulate is still located on the East side (where the Embassy used to be located). The new Embassy is located on a former housing area.
  8. Was Royal Bank of Scotland sending baht (at a low exchange rate perhaps)? Banks like to do that if not instructed to send foreign currency.
  9. 1. Wise is not cost effective for large transfers of money. 2. Money used to purchase condo must have special paperwork which Wise does not qualify for AFAIK if you ever want to sell and return money to home country. 3. SWIFT transfer believe is what you want to use (although have never done myself). 4. How exactly do you intend to buy land? Are you Thai?
  10. I change at the recommended six months - keep the Thai fried fish food odors in check. Use charcoal version filters (Sharp came with just HEPA).
  11. Constant pressure does not have a storage tank (as bottom half of yours) so are smaller.
  12. As above - there is no medical insurance requirement for extension of stay from a single entry non immigrant O entry (which can be obtained for 2,000 baht by showing financials from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry). As for local insurance would have to search (and look for highest deductible) - not much available at older age.
  13. Most places have shophouse type sellers for pumps/tanks/filters that also can provide service people at very reasonable cost.
  14. Looks nice but have same type unit on a base and really does not light up keyboard well at all (but mine is white white - and believe cost all of 49 baht). Another thing may be angle - if we low in chair and keyboard high it makes it very hard to read. For me getting the top row numbers is a real PIA (but want small keyboard without number pad - not a laptop).
  15. You need to consider a few things. 1. Would just recharge or replacement of tank (return to normal operation - likely not enough air now) be OK? Or do you want more pressure? 2. More pressure means more stress on water pipe joints - which are often a fail point here - as few install for high pump pressure. So could house be re-piped easily if failure? We ran outside pipes rather than underground so was easy and not expensive. 3. Can not address the constant pressure/tank question - have used both for Grundfos and worked fine but have heard very noisy constant pressure pumps and would not want some of the cheaper units. We have been using tank type Grundfos for last decade and very quiet and works very well with no real water pressure dip.
  16. Had older model and worked fine for years - had to buy above model when filters were not available anymore - this unit worked well for about a year then had slight fan click noise and replaced with 3k Sharp model (but granddaughter seems to have fixed old unit and still using). For me the Sharp is better as takes up less space and filters are about half the price. Use 24hr a day in bedroom.
  17. Not only age - using Thai keyboards the English letters are much smaller/thinner and harder to make out. One advantage to buying from source outside Thailand perhaps?
  18. Yes you can use any split type AC unit to cool room and an air purifier to maintain healthy AQI. Hopefully you are not smoking in the room or burning incense.
  19. Not sure if you talking issue with Ebay or PayPal but as I am sure you know PayPal Thailand is no longer an option for non-Thai so perhaps when they see Thai address there is a red flag. I have not used Ebay for many years (since getting fake item - reporting - Ebay removed seller - said they had no responsibility as seller no longer on their platform). Suspect most platforms want items sent to payment address these days - so if your PayPal account is in USA but asking them to send to Thailand might not be an option.
  20. But if you capture the energy from that bomb you would be driving the world for life. But real fear is some nut will likely be using to end our world at the rate we are sinking.
  21. Believe it is just normal extra form that we sign as self guaranteed but could be used for spouse if that were the case.
  22. Wise to Bangkok Bank for long term stay (or tagged account) is what gets FTT - not sure if any other banks actually use that letter combination. If actually for buying real estate believe there is special paperwork required and that transfer should be Swift system (but do a search with Google as you do not want to mess a large transfer up).
  23. Or was it the extra consumption of beverage while out on the town? 🙄
