Intereresting! What do you like about the R-3? They seem compact and powerful.
Small and compact but comfortable riding position plus they rev to the moon and are very easy to chuck around, they also have a lot of nice bells and whistles such as gear change light and gear indicator
I put an R6 throttle body on mine and that upped the fun factor too and made it a much more grown up ride and made it feel more responsive....
Initially got it for the missus as she was struggling to keep up with my CB500 on her Ninja 250 on longer runs, no such issues with the R3

That is from Gatwick mate but the point is you have to be flexible dates and area wise and look for the bargain flights to get a cheap flight, I don't dispute there are some out there however for the train I expect to go from where I want at the time I want so the Tranny watchers statement is a steaming pile of excrement much like his other statements really....

You really are a bit of a bore mate....
If I am ever so skint that I am worried by 20p price difference please take me to one side and put me down...
You do realise that just because you only want a single doesn't mean it will be half the price....you do know this don't you?
For the more solid amongst us try booking a single flight from anywhere in Europe to Los and see how that works out for you, wont be half price...
By the way brains your pricing for the train is a little wrong much the same as flights really:

The Honda CB300F is not underpowered, it is equipped with a 286cc single-cylinder engine that produce about 30 horsepower and 27Nm of torque. For example the Kawasaki Ninja 300 has 4 horsepower more but almost 4Nm less torque.
If you ride a 300cc and expect the performance of a 500cc or 650cc you just have bought the wrong motorcycle.
The R3 is not very far at all from the new Honda 500's and more fun to ride in most respects....

you must be thick you still dont get the point that they are charging you 20p less for a single ticket , its impossible for a single ticket to genuinly cost 20p less than a return but it happens in the uk and your thick enough to pay for it. there should be protests in uk about all the scams that go on including the MPs Expenses scam that is still going on !

are you thick or something ?? dont you read what i have put before replying ?? it cost you 9 quid return yes ? but if you had wanted just a single ticket it would have cost you 8.80 pounds as i said in my post a RIP OFF !! 20p less to get a single ?? THATS A RIP OFF !! if they can charge 9 quid for a return how come they charge 8.80 pounds for a single RIP OFF BRITAIN !!
Oh dear, what a boring tedious cheapskate you are
Just to make you feel better though if I am ever broke and in a bind and decide to leave home to live in Madchester I will get a bus to save a couple of pence if it makes you happier
Is that seriously the most important thing in your life?

just wanted to say thats 1 con in the uk that i was telling you about before mark131v , you said you have not seen any ? a single ticket costs about 20p less than a return SO YOU HAVE SEEN RIP OFF BRITAIN THEN EH mark131V?
Not at all, 9 quid return into Manchester bloody good value and no transvestites on the train at all.....

What a gopping little weasel this creature is, unfortunately they seem to have a production line for morally corrupt gibberish talkers who can keep a straight face whilst lying through their back teeth....

Anyone that is returning to the UK for a visit and orders return train tickets online.
Nowadays, you don't get a return ticket, you get 2 singles.
I ordered a return ticket and when I got back to the UK, I went to a machine that issued the ticket.
Ticket came out and I took it. It was only later that I realised that the ticket I had taken was only for the first part of the journey. The return part must have been issued after I had left. So I had to get another single for the return part and it cost more than the original total payment for the return.
After that I was wiser and when ordering tickets online and collecting the tickets from a machine, I waited for the return part. There was quite a gap between the first part being issued and the 2nd part,
Your right nearly caught me out last week, ended up with 5 bits of paper for a single return ticket but actually very cheap if you book in advance....

And who do you think trousered the RR money?
From the way the powers that be are squirming and trying to bury the subject I think it is safe to assume it is some of the 'good people'
I would not be at all surprised if a few ex generals and air force types or their hi so backer's where named though I would put good money on nothing tangible happening in the way of punishment....
Caught red handed but still nothing, damning indictment on the whole stinking cesspit and total absence of anything even vaguely resembling a moral compass.....
Looking forward to the 2018 corruption index already as they do seem to be going all out to top the table in at least one subject, go Thailand!!!

The bold is simply not true, the Thai police are under more scrutiny than ever before to keep their hands clean, the days of openly bracing passersby for tea money are finished, and some very big fish have been gutted, including high ranking officials in the police, military, government and even some close to the royal family.
Back in the day ...the notion that a Thai family as powerful as the Shinawatra, the head of the family on the run from corruption charges while his sister is being put to the sword and humiliated in a public trial .....would simply be unthinkable.
So, while yes I agree there are lots more to do ..to say nothing has changed is simply not accurate.
The only thing that has changed is the heads in trough, nothing else. Been some half hearted investigation that has pretty much results in jack shit unless you are on the wrong side of the colour divide, all a perfunctory pr shot to try to persuade the gullible that something is happening
Looks like one of their rare semi positive results as it seems to be working with some people....

...the nation’s departure from democracy.
A departure away from the Shinawatra family, one of the most powerful and corrupt families in Thailand.
Who used public money and rice scams to buy votes and rig elections.
In reality, Thailand probably has less corruption now than at any time in it's history....regardless of what some group of German beard scratchers think.
Oh dear.....
I think the boxhead beardies are judging on what is happening today, you know since the military liberated the population from the burden of any semblance of democracy.....
Proof perfect that there is none so blind as he who refuses to see.....

You say living in a parallel universe or on drugs it looks like your on drugs if you never seen any transvestites ( another word for ladyboys ) in uk , there are literally thousands of them you must walk around with your eyes shut or blinkard vision , also thousands of transexuals in england if i had a small mind like those back in uk i would say to you " oh you been to city centre have you well you must be hanging around with ladyboys (transvestites, transexuals) if you have been to a city centre there !! can you now see how stupid it sounds to say stuff like that ? but in england you can get it all the time if people know you have been living in thailand, you say you never have had this ?? your married not single !! but if you dont believe this happens a few on this discussion board have agreed with me that they have heard it or had that in england off small minded people not only that if people hear you have lived in thailand and single then you must have been living in thailand and messing about with little girls or boys ( i suppose it does not matter if your married as in their minds you could still be doing this ) but mostly it is singles that get the flak all because as i say some people over in england have small minds and blinded by the news , they might see a news story which has been on BBC or any other channel possibly about an english teacher been arrested for messing about with young girls or boys then they look at you and say you were living in thailand bet you were at it as well !! thats what it is like in uk and to have to tell you that means you must be living in a parallel universe or on drugs not to have heard that in the uk , i also have options probably more than you but i have still heard accusations just because i enjoy coming and holidaying in thailand, its very annoying living in the uk and listening to that crap all the time and alot of brit people on this board will tell you the same that they have heard or had these stupid allegations against totally inocent people enjoying thailand wether on a winter break or retiring here , i have even walked around sainsburys stores in england and seen plenty of transvestites (ladyboys ) walking around dressed as women even seen them walking around town and city centres in broad daylight but nobody starts saying" oh you been to sainsburys have you , or the city centre well well you must like ladyboys how stupid does that sound thats how stupid brits sound who say that if you have not seen or heard that then you must be blind or st.p.d
Got half way through then lost the will to read the rest...
Your first post on this subject painted you as somebody who was only really interested in having the company of 20yo bargirls, that may very well be an incorrect judgement but if you speak to people in the UK or anywhere else like that then for right or wrong you may very well be judged
It has nothing at all to do with small minds in my opinion but actually more to do with your description of your main reason for living or visiting Thailand, all this bollicks about people saying stuff, well I have lived all over England and a bit of time in Scotland and have seen very very little of what you describe as rife behaviour all over the UK
Will have to agree to disagree but as for the OP I stand by what I have wrote as I have recent experience of what he is describing and have overall had a very positive experience and absolutely no regrets and none of the issues that you describe as widespread in most of the UK
ps I served for a long time in the RM we were well known in the forces for getting dressed in drag for a night out but not too many are actually gay and very very few members of the public ever said anything when confronted by a big burly bootneck in fishnets and high heels.....

You say you moved back to uk about a year ago wait till you have been there in 15 years and see wether you have had any of the comments come up that i described back in uk , you will get them alot of people back in uk have small minds because they live in their own little world and as i said before CONTROLLED by the BBC and other channels that have such a bad impression of thailand , they highlight things like ladyboys making everyone back in the uk think that thailand is overrun by them , when in fact you could go down to the city centre of any town or city in england and find thousands of them BUT OH NO they dont want to mention that because were british and we dont do that ...... a load of cobblers ..... its programms like that , that cause so much problems back there if you go for a holiday here or come to live here !! you will get them comments you have been back only 1 year and also your not single so they wont say it as much to you !! and living out here with a partner can be disastrous in marriage terms lots of divorces due to extra marital affairs this may be part of your reason for going back we dont know , after 15 years back there you will be gagging to get back out here being fully retired by then .
Lived all over the UK with my wife for 5 years before we moved to Thailand in 2010 with no issues at all
She followed me around the country when I was in the mob frequently on her own for months on end when I was deployed overseas, no issues
Had 5 years in Thailand and she wanted to get back to the UK same as me, have options you see....
BBC, most people I know make up their own mind and thousands of ladyboys in UK cities, are you on drugs or in a parallel universe to the one the rest of us?
If in a couple of years I want to return to Thailand and the place doesn't self destruct first then I can go back to the house out there, again options
I think you and me have very little in common, it is patently obvious the things I find important are not the same as what you find important
Finally you say a lot of people in the UK have small minds, again I have not seen too much of that so if I was you I would change your circle of friends as it looks like you have a very bitter and skewed opinion of people, sad way to live really....

Don't be silly. It doesn't take any more than booking a flight! And Zip to do with character.
Your OP is telling and it's pretty clear you need your nanny state to take care of you. You ask about work, doctors and the most telling.. "how do I get back in the system" see, it's always always always about the money.
No shame in failing. But please don't blame thailand, unless of course you want to be specific about why you were failed?
Over to you!
No fun sparring with the hard of thinking....
Fella I aint the OP!!
Have you been on the chang or something? go back to the first page and have a read stops you making yourself look quite as stupid....
I have never asked here or anywhere else about work doctors or 'getting back into the system' never needed to see
Looks like the comprehension comment in post 61 is 100% right though.....
OP you need anything just drop me a PM and I will be happy to help

Seems to me you have some problems with comprehension, never mind don't want to mock the afflicted...
I have not returned anywhere with tail between legs, luckily for me I have options which allows me to make the best decision for me and mine, unlike some I am not stuck in a place without the means or strength of character to leave but then again takes all sorts....

Thailand always end up being a basket case for farang with money issues.
Nothing has changed for me
Biggest problem for most is getting married with new mouths to feed and wives demanding cash for extended family
Bloody sad how blokes get themselves in such a mess
And then... Wait for it
... BREXIT fiasco kicks in.. Bad timing
..... Sterling crushed
And those running home with tail between legs think thailand is a basket case? Talk about denial!
UK IS the world leader in basket cases!!!
No denial here mate and certainly no money worries, still have a house on a rai and a half 3 motorbikes and a ford ranger....
I was married with child before moving to LoS and doing very well thanks very much
Seems to me sterling is doing ok and I am not at all worried about Brexit, much prefer to be in a place where there is a rule of law
Personally I am not willing to bury my head in the sand and accept the Thai way of doing things, always had principles always will but each to his own....
UK leader in basket cases? you are deluded fella but never mind there is probably a pill you can take for that

bloody hell mate you seem bitter and twisted about thailand i have none of the problems you have and i have been coming here 21 years and lived here for a 2 year stretch , you say you moved back to uk , can you tell us why you moved out of the uk in the first place bet it was 1 or more of what i was saying although you could make up any story , it seems strange you would move out of the uk for an undisclosed reason and then move back there and then say all is well there when you left there in the first place. lets see what you say in 10 years time of taking that crap over in the UK
Not bitter and twisted at all, just realistic and yes I am sure your reason for being in LoS is completely different to my reasons I already get that loud and clear!
I moved to LoS after leaving the RM and starting to work offshore because with a military pension I could and it was tax free, could have chosen anywhere but I had been going to Thailand with the mates several times a year since about 2002 so knew it well
We still have the house, cars and stuff in LoS and can visit whenever and already had a couple of weeks in summer so I have no rose tinted specs for either place but unlike you it appears I have options
Lived from 2010 to 2016 there and would never move back full time as it is becoming a basket case but fair to say you can probably still get your 20 year bar girls if that is your main priority....

Bloody hell lol, I'm terrified!
to be honest I've been living between Mexico and Thailand for the last few years with a quick stint in OZ. The main reason for going back is that my nan has just turned 97 and has started to show certain signs she didn't before so I'd rather just spend some time with her. While I'm there I would like to get some stuff done on the NHS, however the move probably won't be be forever, who knows though.
As for running out of money, that is a concern. Even though my job here is ok, once you hit the ground over there it quickly goes so yes that is something I've got to consider.
Up north is a lot cheaper that down south.
UK is a slog, I agree and it can be bloomin freezing in more ways than one but it's something want to do, at least until October.
Finally the type of work I'll be looking for eventually is in education. I've been an English teacher for a while however the last few years been more involved in the advocacy/admin side of higher ed. However I'm pretty much up for some hard-graft when I get back, whatever that is. Used to be in demo many years ago.
cheers for all the feedback guys, lots to help out.
You will be fine mate especially if you have a trade and skills to fall back on
We went back to UK a year ago primarily for the sprogs education and have no regrets at all
Still have a lovely house pick up and bikes in LoS and we went back for 2 weeks in the summer and that just cemented that in our case at the moment the UK was the right choice for my family
The UK has many more pro's than cons in my experience though I dare say they are probably the wrong type of pro's for some on here....

you also forgot to mention that after a few months of ignorant people you come into contact with you will be ready to book your flight straight back out of uk , also the usual stigma and blindfolded view that people there have in conversation with them, such as when they say to you , "oh ! you have been living in thailand have you how many ladyboys you been with " they will try to embarrass you with this because they saw a one sided blindfolded view of thailand on tv and they have never been so dont understand the laid back lifestyle here, Also they will try to embarrass you in conversation with , " and how many little underage girls have you been hanging around with abroad " ? because they are in their tiny little one view world controlled by the BBC oh and dont forget you still have to pay your TV license (nonesense) also scraping the ice off your car , paying the extremley expensive council tax and gas and electric bills , after 2 months you will be wishing you had never gone back hearing the one sided news drummed down your neck every night , and down at the local you will get sick of been told , " your a dirty old man for fancying a 20 year old girl at the local and better watch envious and jealous husbands who are under the thumb looking at you when you chat to the 21 year old student bargirl . and mentioning to his also under the thumb mates that the dirty old mnan is at it again. also the amount of times you will be ripped off with car garage bills , insurance , petrol the list of rip offs is endless over there yes you will be wishing you had never gone back and miss those lazy days in the sun with your mates and the usual 21 year old girl you meet for fun times together every few days and also talking to 20 year old girls without any sterio types about telling you your a dirty old man , yes it wont be long before your at the international airport ready to fly out of the dark, expensive, narrow minded , freezing cold fridge we call home the UK .
Bloody hell mate you do sound like a truly bitter and twisted individual but it does sound like LoS is ideal for you if it is all about the young bargirls
OP we moved back last year and have none of the problems this fella has had and in general it has been very positive. Some things are more expensive but you get a lot more for it and you have the opportunity to work and earn a wage
The difference in the way people speak to you and behave is night and day different but in a positive way plus you have a rule of law and you aint seen as nothing but a cash cow to be exploited by all and sundry...

Very good to see they are concentrating their efforts on the serious stuff..........
I daresay we should have some cheerleaders along soon to applaud the zeal with which the law is being upheld, bit of a firkin joke really like most things in la la land

'Master plan' wasn't there a little Austrian fellow who had similar idea in the 1930's, that did not end well neither...
' It will be shown on national television to promote morals and ethics among Thai's'
With such glowing examples from the present little man at the head of the trough and his cronies I am very surprised the little people need to be educated.....
