I am flying to Hat Yai soon and checked with the airline (Viet Air).
I was told you don't need anything just a mask and temperature test. I'm not sure I believe them so we will be taking proof of vaccination to be sure. I was afraid we would be subject to a rapid antigen test. Will there be tests in Hat Yai, I don't know and of course this can change daily.

Another safety point when filling your gas bottle yourself. Do not fill fully as the gas is cold and when you drive home it will get hot and expand and leak and will become a potential bomb. I noticed this myself after filling the first time. This is why the gas companies do not fully fill them, they are not trying to short change you.
I worked for some time in liquid gas production not LPG. I once saw a bottle fly across the production area one day, something you would not forget.

Wondering how many check for gas leaks when a bottle gets changed. Considering how close to the flame many tanks are here, that is a real concern. I know I do, and I keep the same tank and refill myself for reason of safety.
By all means keep the bottle you like but check the test date and replace if necessary otherwise it's more dangerous.

You can always rely on the Thai authorities of some sort or another to give you a good laugh.

So many new houses unsold near me in Bang Saray area south of Pattaya, building even stopped and builders laid off on some estates. Many other estates have lots of houses for sale or rent, looks like a buyers market to me. Mind you they are still asking silly prices for them.

That is a stunning piece of information. And crazily enough, it's something I should be well aware of having been a SCUBA diver for donkey's years! And I've never given it a thought.
I do wonder how many people are actually aware of it. Do you suppose that the filling stations check the dates before they actually refill them?
They will not check it at the pumps but some at least do if not all when exchanged. I too should have known better it had been part of my job years ago checking dates on pressure vessels and sending them off to be checked as required.

Skilled workers in Thailand a complete joke.

Used to fill ours up at a LPG station perhaps a little cheaper but then I remembered the reason you should exchange it. They have to be pressure tested every few years so you should look for the stamp, not always easy to find or read, mine was out of date. The gas shops will send it away because even here in Thailand this is taken seriously. If you fill it up and it's way out of date you may have trouble brewing, it's done for good reason. So yes as other people have said your landlord is an idiot.

Steven Leather spends most of his time in Thailand whether he is here right now due to Covid is another matter. Great author and script writer.

I was looking at the Philippine's recently and for sure they have some wonderful beaches and exotic islands. Don't know if the infrastructure is as good and the weather is definitely more than a little dodgy sometimes. However it still looks great.

That is a terribly sad story.
Thankfully my Mother got to have a relationship with all her grandchildren before she died, my American kids and my Thai son.
She was never judgmental, and as much as she loved my first wife like a daughter she embraced my Thai wife just the same.
Maybe because of how my first marriage dissolved helped. I still love my first wife as my best friend, we probably talk at least once a week and as weird as this may sound, we go on vacations together, me, her and our partners.
The kids love it, causes endless laughter with their friends when it comes up.
But for my Mother it gave her joy in her final years that everyone was at peace and happy
Glad things worked out for you, my mother didn't really like my first wife either and after my parents were divorced she poisoned my mind against my father and it took me years to realize that. The saying is you can pick your friends but not your family.
Although I am living in Thailand far away from my son we still have a good and friendly relationship.
I think my mother watched some very biased or at least selective TV programs where Thai women were all badly depicted.

My wife would not even enter a bar when I met her. After two years of trips here I got a fiancé visa for her and we got married in the UK. My mother would not meet her or even talk to her, or me as I would not give her up. We had a daughter and I tried to break the ice but she didn't want to even see her only grand daughter. Cut me out of her will and everything. Married (happily) 15 years now, daughter 14 mother passed away without seeing either, her loss.

Green diesel my backside, there's nothing green about palm oil, one of the most destructive farming processes on the planet.

Maybe larger fines could change the way people drive ,if
the fines are collected , something has to be done ,thats
for sure , if drivers with bad driving habits ,know it's going
to come out of their pockets ,and not just 500 Baht .
regards Worgeordie
Are the fines collected, I've been told if ignored for long enough they are forgotten and most Thais do this. Sounds very similar to a young rich Ferrari driver killing a policeman if not caught it gets forgotten.

when you have the olympic federation telling athletes not to eat produce/meat in china unless it from certified places due to the amount of chemicals/drugs they use to make more money from them you really have to wonder why anyone would want to use/eat anything from china, the meat and vegetables have been shown to be extremely suspect for many years, fake rice, eggs, lettuce, meat & fish that is way over safety standards(believe one lot of frozen meat was way over 20 years old) plus all the virus' that start there, would be better if china was totally isolated so they couldnt cause all the problems they are now
Didn't they do fake baby food too or perhaps I am mistaken?

Everything you say is correct except I would not had said "lets stop panicking. " that would insinuate that we have been panicking and overreacting, I would had said "let's not panic" which is good advice in any situation.
Don't panic Captain Mainwaring! Brings a smile to my face.

Sad though it is. Did she die from it or with it and her death was from her other health issues. Please lets stop panicking.

I have have felt bad when stopping to let pedestrians cross only for them to be almost hit by impatient motorbikes riding around me.

Those are called "crosswalks", not "zebra" crossings.

There actually pedestrian crossings, what's a cross walk???

Also forgot to mention we are planning a trip to Koh Lipe in March. I guess I had better do some checking before we book.

Nice to know, thanks for posting.
I have been to Koh Larn twice recently and said if they require any testing we don't go. I don't mind proving vaccination, but a possible test failure could be financially hard hitting.
Koh Samet has been talked about for a short break but we will forget it now until common sense prevails.

Diesel isn't the healthiest fuel but it is used for transportation of most goods, every time the price goes up there is a corresponding price rise in the shops.
Yes I know when the price comes down the prices in the shops don't.
Foreign ex-pat riding a bicycle dies after being hit by a pickup truck driver in the Pattaya area
in Pattaya News

I remember a pickup driving off the road on to a hard shoulder in Thailand killing two foreigners cycling. The reason was I dropped my hat and bent down to pick it up.
My wife and I were too close to a pick up truck last year when out cycling. Heard it's engine screaming and it came flying out of a side road straight onto Sukhumvit Rd where we were cycling, missed everything amazingly and got stuck in the ditch in the central reservation opposite the Navy base near Bang Saray. God knows what he was doing, full revs low gear not braking, on drugs or drunk perhaps but early morning.
The standard of driving here in Thailand is simply appalling and nothing ever changes. How many Thais would pass a driving test in Europe or North America.
RIP to the unfortunate cyclist.
