Indian tourist files police report after mistakenly taking transgender person to his Pattaya hotel By Tanakorn Panyadee Pattaya — An Indian tourist in Pattaya filed a police report on a stranger whom he reportedly paid to go to his hotel room but later turned out to be a transgender individual. The tourist said the transvestite refused to return his money and stole his wristwatch. An unnamed Indian tourist on Thursday reported his plight to Pattaya police in the evening. The tourist said he hired a stranger whom he originally thought was a woman to go to his hotel room on Soi 8 in Banglamung, Chonburi. While the two of them were inside the room, the tourist stated he noticed the stranger was, in fact, a transvestite, not a real woman. Thai man who won 6 million in the state lottery goes to the police after his wife disappears with the cash - and her lover! Picture: Thai Rath Manich Pranee thought it was his lucky day - and some - when he scooped 6 million baht in the state lottery in the draw on November 1st. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1278197-thai-man-who-won-6-million-in-the-state-lottery-goes-to-the-police-after-his-wife-disappears-with-the-cash-and-her-lover/ -
Picture: Thai Rath Manich Pranee thought it was his lucky day - and some - when he scooped 6 million baht in the state lottery in the draw on November 1st. He went with his common law wife and his three children to pick up the winnings at the lottery office. They couldn't have been happier. The money was put in his wife's account. What could possibly go wrong - he trusted Angkhanarak, 45, as they had raised a family together over the last 26 years. He asked for a little over 1 million baht to make merit at their house in the Thawatburi police jurisdiction on Roi-Et, NE Thailand. At the merit making a man arrived who Angkhanarak explained was a long lost relative. Manich though nothing of it. The man stayed with the family for three days before the wife and the man disappeared. The pair were contacted and still no alarm bells were ringing - she said they'd be back soon, they had some business to attend to in Nong Khai. Then one of the couple's sons heard from a neighbor that the man was not a relative. He was his mother's lover and they had been carrying on for ages, not just three days. A check on the account at the BAAC bank revealed that 2 million baht had been removed. The bank said the family should go to the police to try and get the account shut, reported Thai Rath. But that proved impossible. Pol Lt-Col Somsak Ketphiboon of the Thawatburi police said no crime had been committed. The account was in the wife's name and she was entitled to do as she pleased with the money. She wasn't even legally married to Manich, they had never officially recorded their marriage (jot thabian). -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The all-powerful first 3rd term ‘elected’ President of China – Xi Jinping, issued a statement within minutes after he landed in Bangkok to attend the APEC summit that ends tomorrow. The statement by the Chinese President called on the APEC region to be a block that focuses on economic development and not be someone’s backyard and should not be an arena for big power to contest their turf. “The Asia Pacific is no one’s backyard and should not become an arena for big power contest. No attempt to wage a cold war will ever be allowed by the people or by our times,” Xi said in a statement issued within hours after his Boeing 747 landed at Don Muang airport late yesterday. Picture: Thai Rath World leaders attending the APEC Summit will be getting grilled chicken at their Gala Dinner. Not just any farm fed chicken however - they will be treated to Betong Chicken that is becoming increasing popular in Thailand and more well known around the world. Named after a southern Thai district the chickens are smaller, free range animals with a distinctive taste. They will be grilled and prepared by Michelin star chef Chumphol Jaengphrai under the banner of "Sustainable Thai Gastronomy", reported Thai Rath yesterday. President of the Betong Chicken producers and farms association Pol Sub-Lt Udom Laksana said it was a great honor but not the first time top politicians had sampled this kind of chicken. ASEAN leaders were also treated to it at another summit. He said proudly that this would be a timely boost to producers of the chicken raising awareness about the food both within Thailand and around the world. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
