  4. Picture: Thai Rath Pol Gen Surachate Hakpan - Big Joke - flew into Prakhonchai district via helicopter last night to join local investigators in drawing a line under the death of a 23 year old local man earlier this month. Relatives thought it was murder, but the police said it was suicide. Thanathat or "Nam" Chankae had arrived back from abroad but just days later he was found burnt in Salaeng Ton School, reported Thai Rath. Surachate put the details into what his underlings had managed to discover. Thanathat came back from Germany on the 7th. He had been there with his mother for 3 years. He went to Pattaya. Then he went to his wife's house on the 9th when the incident took place. He was seen absent mindedly walking around the area. He was seen holding what appeared to be a bottle of gasoline after going to a coin-op gas dispenser. He was covered in burns, said medics, yet had not a single other injury. They deemed suffocation as the cause of death and believed that the victim had self-immolated in a seated position. He had a long history of manic depression and needed medication for his mental health issues. He was also having jealous arguments with his wife and was involved in other family disputes. The decision was that Thanathat took his own life. The family have refused to cremate his remains as the case was not resolved but they are now planning on a cremation in the next 2/3 days. The wife of the deceased expressed dissatisfaction at being portrayed as a major reason for her husband's death. The case has been widely discussed in Thailand and other details can be found here. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-29 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The top cop known as Big Luang explained that he was acting on orders from PM Prayuth Chan-ocha to get tough on online crime and his chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat had instructed the PCT to investigate in this case. At the gambling den the staff were chatting with Chinese compatriots via Let's Talk and Telegram to get them to open betting accounts. These were handled by other admin. There was 500 million baht in circulation. 50 notebooks and 53 phones were taken into evidence. The customers were all gambling in Yuan. The staff were all on tourist visas and were paid 40,000 - 70,000 baht per month depending on their role. They were all detained and charged with working illegally in Thailand. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-29 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Photo: Matichon By Thai Newsroom Reporters THE RULING PALANG PRACHARATH Party would likely be dissolved if evidently found to have received three million baht worth of grey money allegedly laundered by a Chinese-born, Thai-naturalised businessman who gave it away, said former election commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn today (Oct. 28). The polling agency was practically cautioned to see to it that the ongoing probe into the three million baht cash donated to the largest coalition partner from the Thai-naturalised businessman, namely Chainat Kornchayanan, be conducted in prompt, accurate and truthful fashion and without double standards, Somchai said. He referred to 2020’s dissolution of the Future Forward Party by the Constitutional Court which had delivered a contentious verdict that the opposition party had breached the Political Parties Act by receiving 191 million baht in “donation” from the then-party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, who had contended in vain that the money should not have been legally held as a donation but a loan. (Photo by PORNCHAI KITTIWONGSAKUL / AFP) By Tulsathit Taptim One man’s justice is another man’s oppression. This rings true in any political system. On April 28, 2004, 32 allegedly-armed people took shelter in the Krue Se mosque in Pattani, after more than 100 militants carried out attacks on 10 police outposts across Pattani, Yala, and Songkhla. After a long stand-off with security forces, those inside the mosque were killed, and many more died outside of it. A few months after that, the Tak Bai incident happened. In Narathiwat province on October 25, 2004, hundreds of people gathered in front of a police station in Tak Bai district to protest the detention of six men. When the crowd allegedly attempted to cross the police barrier into the station. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons, and the crowd started to throw rocks. Shots were fired into the air and then into the crowd, killing some people at this point. Hundreds of protesters were detained at the scene. They were reportedly ordered to strip to the waist, lie on their stomachs, and crawl to nearby trucks that would transport them to somewhere else. Footage taken by journalists confirmed allegations of physical assaults on many arrested protesters.
