  4. Sanook Thai Caption: Farang steals a taxi Huai Yot police in Trang, southern Thailand, were contacted by their counterparts in Nuea Klong, Krabi after a foreigner stole a taxi from Krabi International Airport. He took off along Petchkasem Road in the yellow and blue cab with Krabi plates. He stopped to buy a soda at a roadside grocer's in Ban Khao Kop. On seeing the police the 180-190 cm tall man - called a 'big farang by the media - ran into the female grocer's toilet and refused to come out. He was persuaded to give himself up as local police prepared to send him back to Krabi to face the music. Trang police said he is a Norwegian. He was largely incoherent but the police managed to find out that he had taken a bus from Bangkok to Krabi then had gone to the airport to try and get a bus back to the Thai capital, reported Sanook. He wouldn't cooperate and kept on saying "mai, mai" (no,no). The taxi was damaged. Suthep, the taxi driver and owner of the cab, said that he does runs from the international terminal and that the man had run up wanting a lift to the bus station. He was told that the driver already had a farang customer but the Norwegian asked to share the ride. While the driver was putting bags in the trunk the man jumped in the driver's seat and drove off nearly injuring him in the process. Before his arrest he had sideswiped a motorcycle and a car causing damage to the cab. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 8. Picture: Daily News The leader of the Move Forward party and one of its Bangkok MPs has called on representatives to back a house vote on amending the Thai liquor law. Party leader Phitha Limcharoenrat called on the government and opposition to act on behalf of the people, not personal interests. The amendments to the law will see smaller brewers and home brewers to be able to enter the market, reported Daily News. Mostly Thailand's big players in alcohol production have what amounts to a monopoly due to the law. Thaiphipop Limtrakorn, a Future Forward MP in Bangkok, said that the law changes would benefit bar workers, logistics firms and farmers taking some of the power out of the hands of producers. He said it was time in the vote this Wednesday for MPs to show that they care about "the 99% rather than the 1%". He predicted further divisions in society amounting to a war if they don't decide that fairness is more important than appeasing big business. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
