  1. Daily News Thai Caption: Are you ready? Daily News reported that a post on Facebook that looked like an advertisement was getting a lot of interest from Thai women. It appeared on the site of Ok Mai Mai - an attractive Thai woman with 4,300 followers. It said that a couple of her Chinese friends needed girlfriends. They'd be able to earn 100,000 baht a month, possibly more if they clicked. No drugs - no troublemakers. But you'd need to be able to speak Chinese as well as do cooking and housework. Cue lots of women making comments showing off their Chinese language skills with "ni hao" and an ability to count from 1-10. ASEAN NOW went to the page where the "ad" had been modified to just say that her friends needed a Chinese speaker. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-20 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 3. Sanook Thai Caption: Envious of food given to strays INN and Sanook (with an aftermath video) reported on yet another Pit Bull attack in Thailand. A breed some dog lovers think is just a big loyal softy...especially with children. This time it was the owner of the dog who was attacked because the media said that it was envious of strays getting food. Korat rescue services were called to the woman with serious injuries in Soi Thakerngphol 5 in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima, NE Thailand. In a concrete area outside a two story house lay Suphaporn, 60, who had been bitten in the neck and upper arm. It was a grisly scene. The savage dog had been locked up in the house. It was still in a fierce state. The husband of the victim said they had raised the male dog since it was a puppy. It was now 6. "Nazi",he said, was a strong and powerful dog, that had got upset through envy after his wife went to share some of his food with a stray dog called Whitey. Nazi wouldn't let his wife go and an iron bar had to be used to pry its jaws from her body. A neighbor said that she heard a commotion. She said she'd helped look after Nazi since he was small when the owners were away. She'd be careful with his feeding. He'd once bitten the husband but it wasn't serious. She also said that the wife often fed strays that annoyed Nazi. But she wouldn't be going near him again. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-20 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 6. Thais "losing face" to foreigners - bus sign gets a lot of online attention! Sanook Thai Caption: What are these place names? A bus sign posted on a Bangkok bus fan page was widely shared, reported Sanook. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1272357-thais-losing-face-to-foreigners-bus-sign-gets-a-lot-of-online-attention/
  7. Sanook Thai Caption: What are these placenames? A bus sign posted on a Bangkok bus fan page was widely shared, reported Sanook. It may have been in English letters and an attempt at transliterating Thai but it was leaving both Thais and foreigners equally confused! The poster on Rotmaethai tried to figure out what the placenames were on Route 60 - a regular cream and red city bus going from Suan Siam (Siam Park) to Pak Klong Talat. There was Fashion - that shouldn't be too difficult for a Bangkok resident but a tourist may not know Fashion Island shopping center. KM8 would be a challenge for anyone and apparently means Ramindra KM8. Bankpi - not too hard, Bangkapi. Bamkhamhacng - well you might need a degree in acquired dyslexia for that - Ramkhamhaeng (university). Knlongtna - that seemed to have been put in the washing machine and hung out to dry....Klong Tan. Pratuna - well they just left off the "M" didn't they! The poster conjectured if Water Gate was a good alternative but rejected that idea. Finally, Pakknlong - that's Pak Klong Talat. The poster considered "Flower Market" for that - a popular end of the line destination. The poster used some fruity Thai language in calling for the bus company to up their game. They said that Thais were losing face to foreigners because their English spelling was so bad. Though given the state of much English signage in Thailand it's debatable whether too many tourists would care, they'd probably just laugh. Even if they used the bus! Part of the fun of going to Bangkok is getting lost, suggests ASEAN NOW, for both Thais and foreigners alike! -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-20 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
