ATPD chief Pol Maj-Gen Wiwat Khamchamnan thanked the Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) for supplying Hidu and the organization's tireless work with his men. Picture: Siam Rath O.U.R. is a US based non-profit organization involved in the rescue of human trafficking and sex trafficking victims with a special focus on children. What makes Hidu different is that the labrador is specially trained to sniff out drugs hidden by criminals in electronic devices. These are often used against children. Chaz Balogh, an investigator with O.U.R. said that Hidu, two in October, had come to Thailand after training in Mexico and stints in SE Asia. Social activist Kan Jompalang took a female soldier to the Ratchaburi police yesterday after revealing details of a horrendous case of abuse by an employer against a female employee on Facebook. The woman is a female soldier and the employer is the wife of a well known senator. Nobody was named in the graphic Daily News story. The victim told police how she had met her employer who is a female police officer and allegedly the wife of a senator. Originally she had worked at the woman's coffee shop and her employer had helped her get a job in the military. After this she worked for her. All was okay for a year until her allegedly sadistic employer started assaulting her for every minor infringement. She would be slapped for not speaking nicely. Have her salary cut by 500 baht for breaking a cup or plate. She was made to hit herself until she bled. Picture: Daily News Her employer used a hair curling tong to burn her hand. She gave her electric shocks to the body, head and mouth saying she liked to inflict pain. A metal ruler was used on her. A club broke after one beating. She was not permitted to go and get stitches. She bears the scars to this day after the beatings and mistreatment that happened over a full two year period. In addition the employer took all her soldier's salary saying she was the one who got her the job in the first place, it was further alleged. She produced evidence of this with payslips. In addition it was claimed that the employer threatened to abduct her parents and others and hurt them. She said she was like a slave to her 24/7 having to massage her at bedtime.   14. Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on the grisly and unfortunate death of a cowboy from Myanmar who fell under the wheels of a dust cart after tripping over the leg of one of his herd. CCTV caught the incident though the media only had a still picture. Pol Capt Bunlert Thipsributr of the Mae Sot, Tak, police was called after the accident in Mae Pa sub-district of the north western Thai province. They found Noppadol, 37, the driver of a dust cart waiting to give evidence. There were dozens of cows milling about. Despite CPR given at the scene by rescue teams, 52 year old Setong from Myanmar soon died from horrendous injuries sustained after he fell under the left front wheel of the truck. His wife who lives just 100 meters away rushed to the scene in tears. CCTV footage showed the horrific moment that the herder - known as Setong the Cowboy - took his employer's 50 cows back to their pen nearby. Some cows were in the middle of the road and he was herding them back to the side when he fell over the leg of one animal and under the front wheel of the dust cart that happened to be approaching from behind. The driver was unable to see him and in full view of witnesses and despite their screams, crushed the poor cowboy to death. The case gained a high profile because of the connection the female victim has with famous Thai comedian Mum Jokmok. Chaichet Saduakdee, 35, has been charged with theft and attempted rape. He was caught fleeing to his hometown on a motorcycle in Lam Lukka district of Pathum Thani on Wednesday less that 24 hours after the crime, reported Thai Rath. Mum thanked Pol Maj-Gen Phaisan Wongwatcharamongkhol, Nonthaburi commander, and other senior officers for their quick resolution of the case noting that the man responsible had committed three other offences on the same day and would have struck again. She'd called him after the brazen incident and he'd rushed over to lend assistance. He said that the suspect had shown abnormal behavior. He had had a haircut next door then just gone in and committed the theft and attack. Items had been recovered. He said that he felt sorry for the suspect and if he was able to reform he would be prepared to give him a job when he got out of jail. They spent 30 minutes at the scene hearing the suspects confession before he was taken back to Plai Bang police station. Nongluck Moonsri, the victim said she was starting to recover.   20. Picture: Thai Rath A mother in north eastern Thailand told Thai Rath of her shock after she had just left her 2 year 8 month old son with his paternal grandmother to go to a meeting. The boy and his gran were crushed under rubble after a two meter high wall fell at a house in Samrong sub-district of Surin province. Natthakit Yaemchu had just been playing happily with a friend. He had no chance and was found buried under bricks at the scene by rescue services. His grandmother Wirat Luatlai, 53, was too distressed to talk. She had her leg trapped under rubble and was taken to hsopital. A relative called Sawat, 62,said that two children were playing when she heard the noise of the wall falling and rushed to the scene to try and remove the bricks and masonry with her bare hands. The boy's mother said she had just left her son with his gran because she had to attend a parent meeting. She expressed her profound shock and disbelief at what had happened. Her son was a lively, normal, happy little boy. By Nop Meechukhun Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul vowed to promote Thailand as a leading marijuana market for medical purposes and discourage foreign tourists who aimed to visit the country for recreational purposes. The Minister gave an interview with foreign press on Wednesday, August 17th, that the Ministry expected the marijuana market in Thailand to generate about 1.5 billion USD in early revenue and would grow 2-3 times higher after the first year of the decriminalization. He also reiterated that Thailand would focus on cannabis and hemp for medical use only and did not currently promote recreational use.
