  1. Last Thursday, two Royal Thai Air Force F16 fighter jets were scrambled as a Mig 19 jet from the Myanmar Air Force made a 4 km to 5 km incursion into Thai air space. This drew a calm response from Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha (left) after representations were made to the under-fire Myanmar junta. Over the weekend, early on Saturday morning, the fighting across the border from Thailand, near Tak province, flared up again but this was followed by the retreat of rebel forces from a Myanmar military stronghold which had been seized in the last week. This was the reason for the intense and ferocious aerial bombardment which saw over one thousand refugees flee into Thailand and damage to homes and property on the Thai side of the border. by Joseph O' Connor Myanmar is now effectively in a state of all-out civil conflict with a deadly war of attrition between swelling rebel groups and a military fighting for its life and holding on through air power. The disruption and damage caused in Tak province this week as well as the incursion into Thailand’s air space by a Mig 19 fighter of Myanmar’s Air Force highlight the growing crisis in Thailand’s neighbouring country to the West and the challenge it may pose to authorities here if it spirals out of control. Local Thai military units in Tak were placed on high alert, last week, in response to the situation by the National Security Council. Earlier this year, in March, the US-based organisation Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) estimated that some 12,000 people in Myanmar had, at that point, died in the uprising. Over the weekend, intensive fighting between Myanmar’s increasingly beleaguered and isolated military junta and rebel forces across Thailand’s border with Myanmar in Karen province abated somewhat after it flared up again early on Saturday morning when a bomb killed at least 3 civilians, dropped approximately 400 metres from Thailand’s border and sparking a renewed influx of refugees into the kingdom. The heavy fighting over 7 days saw an incursion by Myanmar’s air force into Thailand on Thursday morning which saw Thailand dispatch two F16 fighter jets to the Phop Phra district of Tak province and the Prime Minister General Prayut Chan ocha, on Friday, play down the incident saying an apology had been offered by the junta leadership in Nay Pyi Taw. 13. By Cod Satrusayang Thailand’s ruling party will not dissolve the house until after the final APEC meeting this November, according to sources inside the ruling party, and despite the prime minister refusing to comment on related questions. The ruling Palang Pracharat Party has been under pressure from both the opposition and high profile defections over the past year. Its response to the Covid pandemic and the struggling economy, which has been exacerbated by rising fuel prices and inflation, have also become increasingly scrutinized by the public and major business groups over the same time period. As a result, there is a growing consensus among the PPRP and coalition partners that a fresh election and mandate would be the best way forward. 25. Daily News Thai Caption: Hothead with a gun A road rage incident lasting about five minutes showed an apparently drunk man in an altercation with a motorcyclist outside the pick-up driver's house in Nonthaburi on Saturday night. The man fired his gun injuring the motorcyclist and fired further shots in the air. In total four shots were fired, said Daily News. In addition the man - who the media said has a famous surname - attacked the motorcyclist repeatedly and kicked over his bike. It was all caught on video by a young man aged 19 living opposite in Soi Sri Bang Rak, Muang Nonthaburi. Picture: Daily News Police at the scene later found bloodstains and casings from a .380 weapon. The victim - Harit, 33 - had already been taken to Phra Nang Klao Hospital by a member of the public, reported Daily News. Arrested was 54 year old Sorawuth Nana who was incoherent with drunkenness. Picture: Daily News He was charged with attempted murder, weapons offences and DUI. At 1 pm on Sunday his elder sister arrived with 300,000 baht to bail him out and take him home. She described him to police as a lovely guy with full mental faculties. But he was under stress. She admitted he drinks, but not to excess. Picture: Daily News She said he was reversing into his house but the motorcyclist hit his rear. He didn't mean to shoot him, just threaten him to get him to leave the area. He was going to take the victim to hospital himself but the police arrived first, Kee, the sister claimed. A caption on their picture in that article said: "(My younger brother) is a kind guy" The video suggests an out of control and armed drunk violently threatening another member of the public, notes ASEAN NOW.
