The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. 926 (PCR) and 1,116 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care Two new deaths The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,320 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with two new deaths, March 4th, 2022. This makes a total of 45,047 cases (PCR) and 35,542 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,979 (PCR) and 15,426 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 55 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022. Additionally, 926 (PCR) and 1,113 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 32,013 (PCR) and 20,116 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022. A crane with basket involved in putting on a roof at a new factory in the estate hit scaffolding causing it to collapse and collide with the wall that toppled over killing three workers. Suriya, 37, had initially survived being hit by the breeze blocks but died later in hospital. Police said that the basket hit scaffolding that then collided with the wall. Investigations continue, reported Daily News. by Thammarat Thadaphrom BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has met his advisor team and discussed economic woes stemming from global fuel price hike and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha instructed officials to quickly find solutions to alleviate people’s hardship from rising energy costs. These may include more subsidies for fuel, cooking gas, and power bills. General Prayut also ordered authorities to look into establishing a unit to help people manage debts, preventing them from losing essential assets, such as houses and cars. The Prime Minister said his administration is urgently expediting its mega projects, in order to increase the economic activities. These programs include initiatives in the Eastern Economic Corridors, infrastructure projects, and railways construction projects, to name a few. The advisor team also said that the government should try to maintain the Thai currency value at between 32.5 baht and 33.5 baht per US dollar, in order to keep the inflation rate at bay and maintain stability in the export sector. The administration should also consider alternative export routes, as shipping companies are now avoiding Russian and Ukrainian waters, said the advisor team. Goods will have to be rerouted through other nations in order to reach either country. The team also predicted shortages of shipping containers, and suggested the administration negotiate a transit agreement with China to mitigate the impact. Her 43 year old mother went to the Paveena Hongsakul foundation for help in prosecuting the case. The man was taken into custody by the Wang Nam Yen police in Sa Kaeo province. Daily News reported that the mother, a construction worker, had shacked up with the suspect. Her daughter gave birth in May last year. Her daughter had tried to keep the truth about her pregnancy quiet until all was revealed. Pramote is now in custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday. It named him as being responsible for the rape of a child not yet 15. He was arrested at a house in Soi Dao, Chanthaburi in the east of Thailand while having his lunch and taken back to Wang Nam Yen. Following the assault police said the suspect went to work in Lopburi. They went there but found he was working as a welder in the east. He has admitted his crime. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul has asked the National Health Security Office (NHSO) to increase the capacity of its 1330 Covid hotline to accommodate the increasing number of callers. The NHSO said more than 70,000 calls were made to the 1330 hotline on 1 March. According to the current guideline, people who test positive for COVID-19 are asked to call this number to register for home isolation. Minister Anutin said he had asked for a capacity increase and for more hospitals to provide outpatient treatments to infected people with mild to no symptoms. He said the current situation is different from that of last year. This year, Thailand has not seen a shortage of beds or vaccines, and that the country’s capacity to handle the virus is much greater. Meanwhile, he said his ministry would be pressing ahead with the removal of mild COVID-19 cases from the Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients (UCEP) program. A proposal to do so will be presented to the Cabinet next week. He then drove his Nissan Almera to Phichit's home, woke him from his slumbers in bed and promptly shot him dead. He then calmly left the scene. Sri Bunreuang police in Nong Bua Lamphu soon had the suspect in custody and took him on a reenactment of the crime that occurred Tuesday in Nong Bua Tai sub-district. The department attributed the success to the rise in popularity of online shopping. DBD Director-General Thosapone Dansuputra made the statement citing data from the department. He said that the segment saw 560 new businesses registered in 2021, more than 200% from 2020. The value of combined assets and debts in the sector in 2020 was at 10.9 billion baht, an increase of 88.28% from the previous year. Officials are still waiting for data for the 2021 value of combined assets and debts. Revenue from the segment in 2020 was recorded at 44.8 billion baht, a 39.12% jump from 2019. Thai businesses invested the most in this sector at 4.7 billion baht, followed by their Chinese counterparts at 65.7 million baht, Hong Kong at 18.41 million baht, German at 13.77 million baht, and others at 125.12 million baht. Aside from the rise of online shopping, the DBD Director-General said there are other factors contributing to the growth of the delivery sector. The Royal Thai Embassy said there were still 8 Thai citizens who could not leave Ukraine, but all were safe and sound. The Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, said the third group of 40 Thai nationals departed Poland and landed at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday at noon onboard Emirates Airlines’ EK 384 flight. According to the embassy, another group of 43 people has traveled safely from an evacuation center in Lviv, Ukraine to Warsaw, Poland. These evacuees are scheduled to leave for Thailand today (Friday). Meanwhile, the Thai embassy in Warsaw reported there were 8 Thai citizens who could not leave Severodonetsk and Mykolayiv because the situation was unsafe. Assistance will be provided at the earliest opportunity. In addition, the Thai Embassy in Bucharest, Romania has provided assistance to 16 citizens who had fled from Ukraine. This group is scheduled to travel back to Thailand on 4 March. Because of a a lack of space it was necessary to continue to hold all the migrants together so non-postive cases were mingling with positive. Now it was confirmed that four police officers at the station had tested positive too and other relatives of police at some flats for officers were also infected. With a potential new cluster on the cards it had been decided to close the police station to the public temporarily. Moves are underway to treat all those infected by the virus. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has warned against cyber attacks due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, urging firms and agencies to increase cyber protection. NCSA Deputy Secretary-General Gp Capt Amorn Chomchoey said 12 cyber attacks have been discovered since 13 January and were linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, mostly targeting key infrastructures such as banks, border control agencies, and news websites. Four of such attacks were found to be using a malware called Hermetic Wiper to erase crucial information. DDOS attacks were targeting financial websites. The general public was affected by a malware called Cyclops Blink, after clicking web links directing them to websites propagating fake news. Text messages containing fake information were also sent to civilians. Firms and agencies in Thailand are urged to have an adequate cybersecurity system in place as well as close down any loopholes within their networks. The general public is advised to refrain from clicking on suspicious links, and enable Two Factor Authentication for their online accounts. As the cameras rolled and reporters preyed on his every move, Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan - always known as Big Joke - listened to the plight of a poor Khon Kaen woman, reported Thai Rath. The charismatic cop was with other top brass cowering in deference before Uthai Saensila, 64, who had fallen victim to loan sharks. Uthai related how she had been married to a cop who died in 2011. Now she was left looking after her 29 year old handicapped son selling boiled corn and sweets to make ends meet. But they were always short of money and when she saw a leaflet blowing in the road advertising loans she replied. In the end she approached four companies and got 25,000 baht. Sometimes she could pay the 1,050 daily interest. Sometimes she couldn't. Until one day a gang member came round and threatened her and said he'd take away her fridge if she didn't pay up. She then decided to go to the police. Surachate said that gangs in the north east were charging 60% interest. So far he and other teams had busted 9 loan shark operations across four provinces - Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom and Nong Khai. A total of 38 arrests have been made and Surachate warned others and those who facilitated their operations that he was coming for them all. Surachate - once head of immigration and deputy leader of the tourist police - fell from grace in 2019. But he is now back in the RTP fold big time being seen busting all manner of crime throughout Thailand. And those cameras are always rolling. Picture: Thai Rath Phanom Thuan police and Miracle of Life rescue services were called after two pick-ups collided at a U-turn on the Phanom Thuan to U-Thong Road in Kanchanaburi yesterday. Ten meters apart at the scene were two badly damaged vehicles - an Isuzu D-Max and a Mitsubishi L 200. Sombat Charoensapsanti, 54, the driver of the Isuzu had been thrown out to the tarmac, reported Thai Rath. He had a broken neck and head injuries and was dead at the scene. Rescue services ferried one man and two women to hospital before police arrived. Police said that Sombat was on his way home and hit the other vehicle that was doing a U-turn. Investigations continue.
