  5. Sanook Thai Caption: Grab and snatch! A video doing the rounds of Thai social media shows a western man on a night out with his mates. The mood is light as they walk down Sukhumvit Road Soi 21 clearly on the lookout for some action. In fact the guy in shot says with a leer: "I will show you guys around". Unfortunately this bravado is a tad outplaced. And the title of the clip is about to come true: "Be careful of the ladyboy gansters". Within seconds a ladyboy has put her hand round the foreigner's neck and is appearing to slather the "hansum man" in kisses". He appears to enjoy this attention, reported Sanook. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe He doesn't realise he is now minus one nice gold chain that was around his neck. His smile after the ladyboy encounter proved that. The video was posted on the site that translates "So You Wanna Be Famous" - the foreigner is certainly that now. Whether he gets his necklace back will depend on the ladyboy being identified, and a tattoo makes that likely. The incident happened on Tuesday 29th March around 11 pm in the area of the Westin Hotel. 8. File photo Thailand on Thursday (March 31) reported 27,560 new COVID-19 cases, 25,077 recoveries and 85 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 3,628,347 with 25,130 deaths. The news comes as the Ministry of Public Health has asked the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) for an additional 75 million Favipiravir and Molnupiravir anti-viral medicines, as it anticipates a surge in COVID-19 infections during and after the long Songkran break in mid-April, when many people travel between provinces. GPO Deputy Director Sirikul Matevelungsun said today that the additional doses being sought by the Public Health Ministry are on top of the 110 million Favipiravir pills ordered by the ministry since February.** ** Thai PBS contributed to this report Discover Cigna’s range of health insurance solutions created for expats and local nationals living in Thailand - click to view Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-03-31 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Songkran, or the Thai New Year/Water Festival, is traditionally the biggest holiday of the year for Thais, falling in mid-April. Although some activities are allowed this year compared to the past two years of basically cancellation, the world-famous water fights and alcohol-fueled parties, dancing, and festivals that go with it have been banned for a third year in a row nationwide, with Anutin citing the concern of Covid-19 spread as the reason. As a result, he said relevant agencies were reviewing the Alcoholic Beverage Act from 2008 to potentially enforce and enact stricter rules during the festival, including for advertising, promotion, and consumption. 15. Yes there is exciting live football for just THB80 here in Thailand by Michael Bridge We recently posted a story about the exorbitant ticket prices being charged to see the Liverpool v Manchester United friendly in Bangkok in July. 16. by Michael Bridge We recently posted a story about the exorbitant ticket prices being charged to see the Liverpool v Manchester United friendly in Bangkok in July. From the huge response, it was fairly clear that most of us are not keen on watching friendlies and certainly would not fork out THB5,000-25,000 for a ticket. However, like many of us we do like to catch a good game but being expats most have to make do with Sky Sports or Super Sports to catch our teams, often in the middle of the night. Living here in Pattaya a group of us used to get our regular dose of live footy when Pattaya United played in the Thai premier league. Over 7,000 attended the match against the mighty Buriram United team at the Nong Prue Stadium Chonburi, Thailand! Unfortunately, money talked, and the owners sold the Pattaya United franchise to a new owner who took the team away to another region in Thailand. New Club However, move forward and along came some new owners who set up Pattaya Dolphins United. The club is currently playing in the Thai League 3 Eastern region. In 2021, the new owner decided to change the club's name from Pattaya Discovery United F.C. to Pattaya Dolphins United F.C. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe Apart from the club's name, the club's logo is also changed. These changes will be applied for the 2021-22 season onward. The club has come top of its regional division and is now playing in the knockout stages against the winners of the other regions. The winner and runners-up will then be promoted to Thai League 2. The reason I mention this is that there is now a very loyal group of expat supporters who regularly sit with the Thai fans every other weekend at the Nong Prue stadium in Pattaya. This weekend’s match against the mighty Sisaket FC team ended in a 4-3 Victory for Pattaya, with the winning goal scored in the final minute of extra time. A Red card, seven goals, and more passion on the field than at most premier league games made this an extremely exciting 90- minutes…. and all for just THB80. Seemed that there were at least 1,000 there, but the noise and drumming were deafening. Pattaya is now tied at the top of the playoffs table, so have a great chance of progressing up to League Two. If you fancy some great entertainment on and off the pitch, check out the Pattaya United International Fan Club on Facebook, and they will announce the date of the next home game. 23. Government Defends Lottery Vendor Crackdown by Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has defended its raids on overpriced lottery ticket vendors, saying they were part of the government’s efforts to prevent people from abusing the law and were not politically motivated. 24. by Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has defended its raids on overpriced lottery ticket vendors, saying they were part of the government’s efforts to prevent people from abusing the law and were not politically motivated. Referring to the "five tigers," or major lottery distributors who won the majority of ticket distribution quotas from the Government Lottery Office (GLO) for an extended period, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said the sellers controlled lottery tickets under the previous quota system and were frequently blamed for inflated ticket prices. The prime minister also assured that the problem has been resolved and lottery tickets are now distributed directly and proportionally to each registered vendor. He added that the process for establishing lottery ticket quotas is also being conducted in accordance with the new GLO regulations. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe His remarks come in the wake of police raids on two online lottery vendors suspected of selling overpriced tickets: Kong Salak Plus and Bluedragon Lottery Company. Lertsak Pattanachaikul, the Pheu Thai Party’s MP for Loei, on Tuesday (29 Mar), denied any involvement with the Bluedragon vendor and its connection with Muang Loei United Football Club. The club was implicated when an aide to the prime minister who leads a sub-committee tasked with investigating the irregular pricing of lottery ticket said a football club in Loei was being sponsored by Bluedragon. According to Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, the Royal Thai Police have since been tasked with seeking a court order to block access to Bluedragon’s website. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-03-30 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
