Thai tourism industry anticipates growth under potential Pheu Thai government
The Thai tourism industry is buzzing with optimism as the Pheu Thai party is potentially gearing up to form the anticipated government. With Pheu Thai’s known successful stint in the realm of governance and its proven track record in enhancing the economy, the tourism sector is eagerly waiting for efficient tourism policies to be rolled out to mitigate existing challenges. The Association of Thai Travel Agents (Atta) president Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn expressed confidence in Pheu Thai forming a coalition government citing their extensive experience in running the country and their successful endeavours to uplift the economy. He mentioned how economic growth could be stimulated further under such a government in contrast to previous decades under military control to boost Thai tourism. Sisdivachr firmly believes that such a government would put economic policies at the forefront, including recognising tourism as a significant growth engine. He remarked on the successful projects of Pheu Thai’s past administration, recommending their reimplementation. For example, marketing initiatives for the Chinese film Lost in Thailand presented notable results, as subsequent buzz propelled Thai tourism among mainland travellers. by Alex Morgan Photo courtesy of jcomp/Freepik -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-08-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Smooth skies ahead: THAI-Turkish partnership signals global travel upswing
A monumental leap forward for international air travel took flight yesterday when Thai Airways International (THAI) and Turkish Airlines secured a memorandum of understanding. The anticipated partnership will focus on the cut-throat competition prevalent on Asia-Europe routes. Commonly, airline collaborations entail synchronising schedules and revenue sharing. For instance, Qantas Airways and Emirates have a working partnership on Europe-Australia services. However, these arrangements need the green light from competition regulators in each operator’s country. Apart from enhancing their networks, this alliance would catalyse daily flights between Bangkok and Istanbul, as elucidated by THAI. The announcement of an exact take-off date for the service is aboard for today. On the other hand, Turkish Airlines already facilitates bi-daily travel to Thailand’s capital Bangkok. by Alex Morgan Picture courtesy of Thai Airways. Cannabis clash to coalition: Bhumjaithai’s olive branch to Pheu Thai Party PM candidate
The fickle nature of Thai politics once again reared its ugly head when the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party extended an olive branch to the Pheu Thai Party prime ministerial candidate who levied against their cannabis legalisation policy during the General Election campaign. Pheu Thai Party leader Chonlanarn Srikaew yesterday invited Anutin Charvirakul and the Bhumjaithai Party to a press conference to announce they have agreed to form a coalition government and agreed to propose Srettha Thavisin as their PM candidate. Anutin expressed confidence that the parties would successfully form a government with 212 votes from MPs from the two parties, 141 from the Pheu Thai Party and 71 from his party. Anutin emphasised that the two parties agreed they would not revise the lese majeste law, not be a minority government, and would not include the Move Forward Party (MFP) in their government-aligned parties. According to a report on BBC Thai, the two parties need 163 more votes from senators and MPs from other parties to be able to form a government and they will not court votes from the MFP as it would upset the majority of the Senate. by Petch Petpailin Photo via Facebook/ เศรษฐา ทวีสิน - Srettha Thavisin and พรรคภูมิใจไทย Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/cannabis-clash-to-coalition-bhumjaithais-olive-branch-to-pheu-thai-party-pm-candidate -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-08-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thaksin Only Anticipates Days, Not Months Or Years, In Jail Upon Return By Thai Newsroom Reporters Pheu Thai de facto boss/former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra speaks to Reuters during an interview in Singapore. File photo: Reuters and published by Yahoo!News DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS Thaksin Shinawatra has been desperately anticipating a matter of days, not months or years, for himself being put behind bars upon returning home, according to a partisan source. Thaksin has been impatiently waiting for his party’s rank and file to run the country again so they will almost certainly find ways and means to help him out with his convicted jail term sooner than later, said the source who only spoke on condition that he not be identified. The globetrotting Thaksin who has recently shown up in Hong Kong and Phnom Penh will not return home as repeatedly heralded until Pheu Thai candidate Srettha Thavisin has been voted the country’s 30th prime minister and his party has completely set up a coalition government. The deposed prime minister who has been residing in self-exile abroad for the last 17 years following the 2006 coup has postponed his planned homecoming twice since last month with a previous schedule for the upcoming Thursday having been put off for no more than a couple of weeks.
