This is the theory. Could be an urban myth. But it's curious that somebody agrees with that behaviour, if it happens, as punishment for those who don't tip.

That's interesting. So you agree with restaurant staff running a protection racket, where they will do revolting things to your food unless you bribe them not to? What a strange way of thinking.

But if you go to the same restaurant again they will fart on your fondue before serving, as punishment, so the theory goes. A tip in a restaurant isn't for gratitude, it's an extortion payment.

When I first visited Thailand I was amazed at the people. Smiling much of the time, cheerful, helpful and obliging. Then I stopped spending so much...

This why I still prefer to buy in shops. The object being bought is right in front of me, and if satisfied, I buy. Fortunately, the older I get, the less I want to buy things. ( I'm not suggesting shoplifting...) If I live long enough, I'll buy nothing but essentials. (And be happy.)

A problem with bars which have discounted beers is that the amount of troublesome a-holes in said bar can go up. Just an observation...

I've tried that, but it's a hassle getting a flight to Spain, then a flight back, for a cheaper better beer.

I was planning a trip to Hua Hin. but from everything I've read, most of it is shut down. (Unless people are saying that to keep rabble like me from thinking it's worth a visit. Can't blame them.) It appears there's not much else to do in Hua Hin at the moment but relax...
