Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists"
Blumpie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It boggles my mind how pathetic Thailand is sometimes, and I question some who think this is no big deal. Does this happen to some in retirement - your brain turns to utter mush? To travel to Thailand and get an AZ inoculation which no real civilized country uses is ludicrous and idiotic. -
Police deny extorting money from Taiwanese actress

Thank god, that's settled it. Who wants an iced coffee in a bag and a lobotomy? -
Thailand’s dependence on tourism means losing passport wars

Not at all surprising. Not to mention marriage schemes which they have tightened control of. -
Thailand’s dependence on tourism means losing passport wars
Blumpie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Indeed they do. And it is far more common than you think. And honestly how many foreigners really overstay their visa? Not as many as you think, although it was a real problem in times past from trashy backpackers and begpackers. Most people from other countries view these people with equal disdain as Thais. One thing that I can say is people overstaying their visa here doesn't make headline news unless the land of (smiles?) seething.... You always have three fingers pointing back at you when you point one ahead. And yes passport visa times are generally reciprocal. -
Chinese Hit Thai Beaches for First Time in 3 Years
Blumpie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The government sure loves the chinese tourists. Do the thai? It doesn't matter. Write it enough times and it will be so. -
It's their attitude more than anything. And it comes from the top and works its way down eventually and we can see this. Honestly, there are so many countries that welcome tourists and are so happy to see us as long as people are well behaved and respect local customs.

Thailand’s tuk-tuks go green amid rising demand for electric models
Blumpie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nice to see that the tourist rip-off-waagons are going green. -
I agree and it is all but apparent for those that have spent any amount of time in Thailand.

Tourism is not improving that much - pent up demand came and went. Word around the campfire from around the world Chinese are not travelling and sources on the ground confirm this. The tourism industry is flopping. Take your pick what it is - nitpicking, high airline fees (more than likely this) and hesitancy to travel.

Beware, Thai police checkpoint on-the-spot fines jumped to 1000 baht
Blumpie replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's hard to imagine that this even needs to be written but it actually does. I used to laugh when they would want to hold my passport. I mean how stupid do you have to be to hand it over and say "Yeah, look after this buddy". Our passports are worth 2500 on the black market. -

It's all over the news here, Chinese are still not leaving China. Terms like "bitter disappointment" for Chinese New Year are everywhere from Japan to Bali. But hey, how are people supposed to travel when they have no passport? the passport office was closed there for three years! Poor Thailand, children running the government with no earthly idea what they are doing, nor any regard for their customers - tourists. -

I wear a jock strap and cup at all times, and strap pillows around my body. Beat that buddy! -

This is very true - if you don't have the proper license and are doing anything illegal like this on vacation your insurance will simply not pay for your medical care due to an accident. Full stop. It's important to be mindful of decisions abroad and be careful and think of the consequences. I always have an IDL with me because many countries are insisting on them now. ITs worth getting it done in your home country, but ours only lasts for one year. Question: Do you need a Thai Drivers license for a motor scooter? ???? -
I'm not so sure about that. COVID is here to stay but with their terrible vaccination record and it sweeping the country like it is there will be chinese in Thai hospitals and you can bank on that. Do I fear COVID? Absolutely not. I only fear a population like China right now. It would have been wiser to have them test before getting on the plane - but if they did there would be no flights because pretty much 50-60 percent have it LOL.

Will Thailand’s new residency visa achieve results?
Blumpie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It depends how you look at it: 1) Delusional? Great success!! Incredible!!! 2) Non-Delusional? Uh not at all. Thai government will pick 1, which one do you want? -
Most of them dont have passports yet. Their passport offices were closed for nearly three years. Sure, there was pent up demand, but that's it. Thailand shot itself in the foot putting in those new rules about proving you have a vaccine before entering. IT sends shockwaves and people will always consider that they will change rules suddenly. For me, my question is when will they insist on a PCR test upon arrival. I could easily have covid when I arrive and have no symptoms. The new variant is a joke unless you're very old. So all these people have cancelled when they announced the rules and now look at it. This new variant - we are all going to be exposed and probably get it. IT is certainly getting endemic and there is no way around it.

TAT aims to make the whole year high season for travel in Thailand
Blumpie replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Hmm... I've been there during the hot season. Man, it's hot. It's so hot you can't go outside and enjoy anything from 10am to 4pm. Not so much fun. Guess if you sit in a bar and get tanked it's okay. Yes the rain is good. Things are green and lush. -

Thailand’s tourism sector keen to welcome Chinese tourists back
Blumpie replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That's good! I hope they are happy. I vacationed in Bali this year. Thailands rules are ridiculous, lack understanding or meaning, and I won't risk .01c travelling there till they calm down. My opinion? I think many think similarly to me. Many don't too. It's all good, whatever they want. Let the weirdness continue!
