  1. You jump to the conclusion that what the OP is talking about is wives who rely financially on their partner. There are many successful and attractive women/women with good careers in Thailand, who are married to Thais and non-Thais or are single. Cabin crew, working for a donor such as JICA or GIZ, working for Ernst and Young or similar, entrepreneurs. The first three I refer to as examples I know of, some married and some not. Your view is blinkered.
  2. He left Thailand a couple of days ago according to him for good.
  3. I recall last year people stating that uploaded document should be 1 page. Last month I combined 3 pages into 1 page and received approval. Today I uploaded the same document and application was rejected due to low resolution of health insurance document. Is limit still 1 page?
  4. Decide (i) what you want to put under the countertops - dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine, oven (1 or 2?) as well as storage, where the hob is, etc (ii) do you want an island, if so what for and eat different levels, (iii) who will manufacture and install - local company, imported, Khun Somboon and his mates? (iv) do you want look at your girlfriend bending down or stretching to reach something from a high shelf? 87-90 cm is typical in Thailand. Some companies may make less high, possibly a Japanese company which is sold in one shop on Thonglor. Kh. Somboon will make what you want but probably you will pay later.
  5. I travelled recently on flights which departed 6 hours earlier on the same day as original flight due to flight cancellation from original destination. No questions asked at any stage; indeed on 2nd flight from Doha no documents were required to be shown apart from BP and Passport.
  6. Two days ago I departed and arrived about 7 hours before original flight time due to flight cancellation. No questions were asked at any stage about the change in flights and at transit in Doha no documents were required to be shown. A few weeks ago I was asked to show COE in Doha when travelling on the same route.
  7. I was travelling on a flight arriving about noon, but just now it has been cancelled and I have rebooked to arrive about 06:00 on the same day. As per your message this is OK. Can you please confirm.
  8. One of the joint account holders can use the App. Not very inconvenient.
  9. Same as Richard with 4th entry next week. 1st in early August 2020 was easy with fantastic assistance from the Thai Embassy staff. 2 more this year, latest in October painless, but this time 8 days to obtain Thailand Pass for Sandbox. I am fully vaccinated in Thailand, used exactly the same Insurance as the previous times and booked a well known 5 star hotel which others use. As a Permanent Resident of Thailand for many years the time taken is frustrating when there are many people (many of whom may never have been to Thailand) posting that they received instant approval and some because of their QR Code. So, is a Thai QR code inferior to a tourist's from xx country?
  10. Unless it has changed recently it is not mandatory to purchase stocks as NVDR. However, assuming that you hold stocks as F then liquidity may be a problem should you decide to sell and price may be lower than NVDR, partly due to lower demand. I forgot to tick NVDR a couple of times and after realizing sold and bought NVDR.
  11. I reached the stage where I had uploaded my vaccine certificate, but was unable to upload a copy of my passport. I was unable to do anything, then more than one hour later I am at the page to confirm the Terms and Conditions. Anyone know if I should confirm or try again. Is the latter possible?
  12. Are you sure that it is not the agents/lawyers promoting this?
  13. If I was in the OP's position and wanted to retire I would ask the Employer to continue my employment officially, but depending on your salary reduce it to the minimum based on for example working part time. At the same time come to an agreement that the salary would be for official purposes only. Trust this is clear. Like others I was not asked to show WP when I was approved. I used the company's lawyer out of convenience as at the time I was doing about 300k air miles per year. I did not trust him and his lies were so obvious, but I had known his Assistant for many years and I trusted her. Once for example he claimed that my Master's degree was not adequate, second time was to arrange for me to be approved a month early, as I was travelling. I said no thank you and he knew not to pursue it. If you don't know the lawyer and have not been in Thailand dealing with such people then there is a higher chance of believing the lie(s).
  14. Yes I am familiar as I have had an IB account for more than 10 years. My comment is not about transferring from a Thai bank as nowhere in this thread does it mention this. As far as Thai regulations are concerned there is another recent thread on transferring money out of Thailand and maybe that would be useful to you.
  15. Not in Bangkok, but Backstreet House in Pattaya has excellent coffee and variety of coffee, which changes. The Thai owner, who studied the art of coffee in England for a year is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, sincere and speaks fluent English. We always visit for coffee when in Pattaya and buy 2 or 3 months supply of different coffees to take home. Delivery to Bangkok is possible.
  16. Yes it is so simple and quick one wonders why some friends or at least one of them cannot check on IB website or call IB in any location/time zone.
