Thai Airways Faces Backlash Over Business-Class Seat Fiasco
rimmae2 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Most recent flight on this seat, aircraft leased from Hainan Airlines. In the last 2 years alone I have travelled on more than 50 flights in TG BC and on less than 5% of the flights has the seat not reclined much. On all other flights seat was excellent, as was service but then I am not a demanding passenger. I also travel on other airlines such as ANA, Emirates and Qatar so can compare. -
I have a 430i and use V Power 95.

If you know which restaurant to go to in a city/town then 'real' Thai food is not difficult to find either alone or with Thai family or friends. This year I have been to old favourites including in Amman and Shinjuku, Tokyo. For the former I usually contact the owner to ask what she can make which is not in the menu in advance of going in the evening.

Everyone has different expectations, frequency of travel, preference for non-stop, etc. I stongly prefer non-stop and have sat in the Al Safwa Lounge in Doha and the Emirates FC Lounge in Dubai more times than I can remember in the last 15 years approx travelling from Bangkok to the Middle East and Africa mainly on Emirates and QA. The novelty factor of the 2 lounges wore off a long time ago. 95% of the time I travel on Thai Airways as I can travel direct. I am a Platinum member of the airline, always travelling in Business or First Class, but unlike others I don't care about (and don't eat) food on the plane unless travelling to and from Japan and don't drink alcohol. Recently I travelled again on Qatar Airways, 3:00 am departure from Bangkok, endless bus journeys from the arrival flight and to the departure flight in Doha, so 2.5 hours in Al Safwa became 1.5 hours. Whether one sits on the Business Class or First Class bus in Doha the inconvenience is still there. Contrast with 2 R/Ts to Europe, 2 to Tokyo and numerous round trips to South Asia in the last 3 months.............all direct. Personally I prefer the service of the cabin crew on Thai Airways to the airlines mentioned above, whose staff can often be OTT and never leave one alone.

Transfer money by Phone app.
rimmae2 replied to Peterphuket's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Confused. Currently I have limits which include 500,000 baht to other SCB Account and 2,000,000 baht for bill payment. I can change the limits easily and quickly on SCB App and from memory most recent max transfer using APP has been about 400,000 baht. Am I missing something? -
Pink Id card for foreigners
rimmae2 replied to Enquiry123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Go to an SCB Branch, complete a form and receive approval by text to mobile and e mail within a few hours. My limit is 2 mio THB but this can be changed on the APP. -
Fast Track Bangkok Airport
rimmae2 replied to LauChan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This is not the 'main' Fast Track from your explanation but maybe I misunderstood in which case apologies. If for example arriving at C gates, there is a fast track comprising 4 counters on the right of the immigration lanes for Thai Nationals. 99% of the time I use the lanes for Thai Nationals as I have PR and in my experience few if any people queueing and processing of Thai Nationals who don not use the auto channels is quick. Above experience is based on about 100 arrivals since the autochannel for PRs was out of operation in December 2019. The 'main' Fast Track is about 100m further. Prior to the immigration lanes mentioned in above para there are signs giving the waiting time in each immigration area (main Fast Track and the immigration zones for non Thai Nationals). -
What reporting? If hospitalisation in Thailand no action required with Immigration; if hospitalisation overseas and you are worried about not returning to Thailand until after expiry of the stamps in passport and PR book as your earlier terminology, then extend for a year from the date you apply to do so.

Good comment; people ignore this. I have purchased 3 BMW coupes new in Thailand and the only choice I have had is to add or change things such as different wheels all at more cost.

Such touching lyrics and beautiful voice. First saw her in concert in 2002 and still listen to this song especially when travelling and away from Thai wife and family. 2002 seems like yesterday when I listen to the song.

Soi Setthi Thai Sap between Sukhumvit 16 and 22. On Sukhumvit 22 there is a barber shop that has been in the same location for 30 years or more, cost is about 100 Baht, Easy Cut has many locations - cost is 150 Baht. There are many barber shops even in expensive areas that have survived with the cost in some ass low as 60 Baht.

New passport for permanent resident process
rimmae2 replied to MikeyIdea's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you want to do what you propose arrive at 10:30 am and collect at 11:30 or arrive at 11:15 to 11:30 have lunch and collect at 1:00 pm. Return next day not necessary. Only issuing new white book (replacement for blue or white) takes more than the same day, i.e 3 working days. -

Suvarnabhumi immigration when with Thai spouse
rimmae2 replied to Wiggy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Autochannel which PRs could use has been out of use since December 2019. Previous to this date I had used auto channel at least 100 times leaving SVB and same time entering. I have departed SVB on an international flight about 20 times in the last year, all on TG first or business class. Frequently after passing though TG fast track I have walked to the Immigration counter where autogates are and enquired as to the status. Invariably the answer regarding when the autogates will be open has been different. Two days ago the answer was waiting for the new Government. Recently on a related topic I read about reopening of autogates for Hong Kong and Singapore passport holders next year.
