A friend of mine use agent every year. He just has to change TM 30 and he never had a problem at immigration. And they cannot know you're using an agent unless you don't tell them. You can live everywhere in Thailand and you can apply for extension at every immigration office. Keep in mind that Thailand is all corruption. My Thai wife even says that

immigration know about that, they are working with agents for take more money from falangs

it is not illegal, stamp is 100% legal but he paid an agent and it's expensive a friend of mine use agent every year and he never had a problem with immigration

The immigration officer just tried to still more money from you. And how they knew your extension has been made in another province? You can say you used to live in another city at that time. I don't see any reason why he must charged you all that money and your stamp wasn't dirty as he said. You can apply for visa or extension in every city in Thailand and after just change TM 30 if you go to live in another place. Immigration only try to get more money ????

It is not normal that you had to return every month for another stamp. Only wasting time and feel stressed because of traffic

you cannot live here 4ever with an ED visa and to me marriage extension is never expensive. my thai wife likes to take care me haha

Yeah ED visa is very expensive, that why the best option is marriage extension or retirement. I am marry and I pay only 1900 bath every year at immigration

You have to marry with Thai lady if you want to stay long time in Thailand. You can't apply for an extension based upon on retirement as you are less than 50. Student visa could be an option for one year living here
