I don’t believe a country that depends greatly on tourism/foreigners coming here to spend money would banish one of the main sources of income to the country. It is scaremongering.
Tourism is not the main contributor to GDP for Thailand and no one is "banishing tourism/foreigners" [sic]. It was an opinion poll, that's all.

My weak maths gives me a total of 264.72% questioned and answering to reach the percentages shown in the article.
Probably the reason I'm not good at these sort of statistics given in polls
You're right, your maths is wrong.

Over 90% of Thai people want a total ban on foreign arrivals
1459 !!!!!
So you think that polls should question 69,000,000+ people every time in order to get a reasonable indication?

Why target just the foreigners?
Because it was a poll that included questions regarding the entry of foreigners into the country!

Its best to just keep you ahead down and don't question the Thai Government.
What's that got to do with this poll?

Diplomat in question is refused entry to an Condo which is apparently not an approved quarantine location
What makes you say that the Embassy-organised condo was not an approved quarantine location for a Diplomat? He was refused entry by the condo management based on other residents' subjective Covid fears, not by Thai authorities.

His condo destination was quarantine accommodation arranged for him by the Embassy as it is permitted to do. He did not have "free will" to go anywhere.
Oh that's ok then .
Of course, "that's ok", how would being quarantined and not having the free will to go anywhere not be ok?

I thought the new rule was "no exceptions" even for Diplomats so why was he permitted to depart the airport at free will?

There was some kind of medical report published not so long ago that concluded that the average beard contained more bacteria than the average toilet seat.

Why not grow a ponytail also?
Beards do not look good on most elderly Falang and yes, the girls generally do not like them.
Yes, that would be even more "artistic"!

What's a designer beard...a beard?
not all all, it's much more artistic than just 'a beard' .
There can't be much that is less "artistic" than a beard!

3. please be aware that this is on the rise
As a generalisation, that is not correct, it may have happened to you but that doesn't mean that it's "on the rise".
"4. I understand the economic pressures, but doesn't make it acceptable!
anyone else seen this recently?"
No.

So, if the balance falls to O baht the number disappears even if the app says it has a longer validity period?
No, the number does not become invalid. You have validity now until June 2021! Even if your phone credit balance drops to B0 within the validity period all that means is the number cannot be used for calls.

11 months * 200 baht/month = 2200 baht to keep the sim alive
"...2200 baht to keep the sim alive..."
That's wrong, a valid internet package is not needed to keep the SIM valid, he's already been advised that he has validity until June 2021. Validity is linked to phone credit top-ups, not added packages.

OK, so if I don’t top up for each month then I lose the number before June 2021? I am not sure when I can return...
The package is a pre-paid monthly unlimited data package using a Tourist SIM. There is no contract AFAIK.
If AIS says that your number is valid until June 2021 then it is valid until June 2021, it is not dependent on keeping the internet package live.
If you want the internet here while you're away make sure that there is enough phone credit to cover the monthly deduction; if you don't need it until you're back forget about it and renew the package when you return.
You could always phone AIS to confirm, they do speak English!

There's no need for him to do that, his number has validity until June 20121.

I am using a monthly package that costs B200 a month. What happens to the number when the monthly package expires when I am overseas? Can I keep the number regardless until June 2021 without topping up from overseas?
Yes, you can, your number remains valid until June '21 regardless of whether you keep the added internet package valid.

Piya Pitutecha, chief executive of Rayong Provincial Administrative Organisation...said “If anyone visits Rayong and contracts Covid-19, I will personally pay them Bt100,000 after they show concrete evidence, verified by the Ministry of Public Health, that they actually contracted the virus from Rayong locals.”
He may as well offered B100m as he's safe with that extremely qualified, and impossible to verify, generous offer.

Over 90% of Thai people want a total ban on foreign arrivals
in Thailand News

It's very easy, those were the responses to two different questions.
Q1 "...On the question of how to prevent a second wave of infections, 94.51% want the Government to forbid all foreigners from entering Thailand...
Q2 "...In order to ease public concerns...33.43% want a total ban on foreign arrivals..."
