She lied to you, it is not a requirement to be allowed to do the test for foreign licence holders.

If you have one you do not need to do the testing

An IDP does not exempt foreign driving licence-holders from anything that the same DL on it's own does not also exempt them from.  Foreign DL and IDP-holders both have to do the same exercises, i.e. not the full test that an applicant with no licence would have to do.

    Taken from the article:

"AIS announced last week a partnership with Huawei to sell 5G smartphones by the Chinese company."

Looks like a contract to me!

A contract to sell handsets is not a contract to build 5G networks and the latter is what the thread and my comment was about.   Thaivisa-posters-not-paying-attention all the way.

Think you will find the term used is "By" not "From" 2027, that one word could make several years of difference.

What was you saying earlier: Thaivisa-posters-not-paying-attention all the way! LOL

    Sorry couldn't help it

From 2027 Huawei will no longer be involved in the project, is a fact and accurate.  Up until that date they will be.   Thaivisa-posters-not-paying-attention all the way...again.

What kind of people.. pensioners.. married guys.. people with work permits what kind of types are you talking about.

Usually about 68 years old and married to an Issan ex BG.

    Retired, but not happily

What has her, allegedly, being an ex-BG got to do with it?  Why suggest that?

Oh I’ve heard it, usual types, sat at the bar

”you had 4 months, you should have gone by now”

”I’ve got a proper visa, I don’t see why you should be allowed to stay here for free”

    Etc

I suspect that you're exaggerating the number of people that you've heard saying that.  Who would say that to, either, a friend (not very likely) or a stranger (even more unlikely)?

I have used Bangkok Bank London to transfer money to Thailand for the last three years with out a problem ,i received an email

from my bank (Santander London) to say Bangkok Bank had sent the money i had arranged to be sent 13/july / this year back to

them .I cant see any reason for this

What do you mean when you say that you "have used Bangkok Bank London to transfer money to Thailand from Santander"?

Do you mean that you simply instructed your bank, Santander, to transfer money to a nominated bank/account in Thailand, or, did you specifically instruct Santander to transfer funds to Bangkok Bank, London, and then on to the Thai bank?   Surely BBL, London is just acting as a correspondent bank for Santander in the transaction?

Are you saying that Santander is telling you that funds generally now cannot be transferred to Thailand because of this (not likely) or that there has just been a hiccup with this one transfer request?

I think those who post well thought out comments get by and large positive emotis. Where as, those who post rems of bs and negative comments get negative emotis. People get tired of some posters having nothing good to say and dump a emoti on them. Why respond to junk?

What is amazing is that some posters actually seem to care what others think about their comments!

Actually, the original text is “the lady protests too much, methinks.”  The “doth” is added modern prose...makes it more Olde Englishy.

putting “methinks” at the beginning is another common mistake.

Jesus...anyone would think that Shakespeare's version of English is considered by some here to be the Queens English and relevant in 2020!

So your pompous OP requesting the removal of emojis from the forum because their use upsets your sensitivities was a deliberate waste of time just intended to disparage other members who choose not to engage in your threads?

If you object to certain member's posts/comments/attitudes so much, just report them.

You didn't get it, did you! The thread was not about objecting to peoples posts and what they had written, it was about the use of emoji's as a proxy for what they could have written! Perhaps try reading the thread again.

Make up your mind!  This is what you posted...

"In truth this is more about a handful of posters that another poster alluded to earlier than about emoticons themselves..".

Seems that it's you who, to use your disparaging words, "doesn't get it"

Yes, they can but no they won't, why should they?   Maybe Thaivisa should introduce a "Supercilious" emoji.

Funny, at least you helped one person understand what supercilious means.

It wasn't meant to be funny, it was a very serious suggestion.

Every day I receive sad or confused emoticons from the same half dozen posters, people who never enter into a discussion and are probably not equipped to do so but instead just click emoticons. One happy chappie even makes a point of logging on each morning and issuing me with three consecutive  confused or sad emoticons on whatever posts I've made so far that day, EVERY SINGLE DAY, regardless of what the content or subject is of those posts.

Whilst that sort of behaviour is indicative of poor mental health and an unbalanced personality and the individuals in question should probably be supported through recovery rather than chastised, posting emoticons does become contagious and act as a catalyst for others to also do the same...it's a bit like yawning! Personally I don't see myself as the one who should be responsible for helping those with Compulsive Obsessive Disorder, perhaps you could set up a special forum for them alone where they can play unhindered and without causing collateral damage.

My vote would be to get rid of emoticons entirely, they are an illiterate persons crutch and an excuse for not explaining their thoughts or debating their point of view. Since that's probably not possible how about you provide a facility to block them from view because they can be a negative distraction. When a poster comes along and asks a question that needs a time consuming explanation and lots of detail, it's often annoying to find that next day some idiot has come along and labelled it and two other posts as sad, just because they can, even though in most cases they probably don't understand what was written or have not even bothered to read the post at all. Personally I see repetitive emoticon clicking as baiting and flaming which is in violation of your forum rules, it isn't just written words alone that are those things, can you not do something about these things? Thanks.

"...can you not do something about these things?"

Yes, they can but no they won't, why should they?   Maybe Thaivisa should introduce a "Supercilious" emoji.

Any idea where I can go to send a fax to another country ?

The Landmark hotel and the hotel in Soi 5 that used to be the Amari, opposite Foodland, both have business centres that could do that for you.

The Kodak copy shop near the corner of Soi 7/1 is worth a try also as is the copy shop on the next block in the Soi 11 direction.

Can I drive   a car or truck in Thailand legally without a thai driving license? I have a driving license for the US and I would get an international driving permit, so with my license from the US plus an international driving permit would I then be legally able to drive in Thailand? If so does any one know the best place to obtain an international driving permit for Thailand?

The answer to your question is yes, you can.  You get the official IDP only from the US.

If you can read English, then you can interpret the results.

Here is an example output: O2 sensor bad

Interpretation: The oxygen sensor is bad.

You simply plug it in to an open port the same way you would a USB port.

You can buy OBD readers online for next to nothing.

It is quite a simple device

I know what an OBD reader is, I was referring to the OP!

What are the chances that he, asking about the viability of buying at the lowest end of the market, will be buying an OBD reader just for the purchase of this car?  He wouldn't even know where to plug it in.
