  1. Tokyo subways sell (or at least used to) "platform tickets" for people who were never intending to get on a train.  The platform ticket let them enter & exit the same station.  Maybe you want to accompany someone elderly down to the platform and ensure they get on the right train.  Or, whatever.

I wonder if the one baht was for a "platform ticket" and the 15 baht ticket you already had was simply considered non-refundable and disposable?

    [edited to add:]

I missed @bbko's post above – did you exceed your five minutes so the ticket was non-refundable?

Registration for the Thailand Pass "Test & Go" scheme will resume at 9 a.m. on February 1, 2022, with the following changes:

    - There are no registration limitations for any country or region.

So there is no more "whitelist" of countries that are eligible for Test & Go?  In the previous T&G iteration, Mexico was not on the list of eligible countries for T&G.  Starting Feb. 1, as a Mexico resident I won't need to sandbox?

Meanwhile, the CCSA has approved the opening of two new sandbox areas in Chonburi province (Bang Lamung district, Pattaya City, Sriracha district, Koh Sichang, Na Chom Thian, and Bang Saray subdistricts in Sattahip district) and Ko Chang in Trat Province on February 1. Travelers will be allowed to move between the new and original sandbox locations within seven days of their sandbox stay, but they must book a seven-day SHA Extra Plus or AQ hotel with a two-time RT-PCR examination (on day 1 and day 5-6), with a limit of three hotels in the Sandbox area.

Soooo, if there is no more restrictions on which countries can T&G, who, exactly are the new sandboxes for?

Under the new rules, tourists MUST stay at an extra+ hotel for their Day One and Day Five testing.” Ampai explained.

Huh?  So if I arrive under the Sandbox provisions of the program (I live in Mexico and don't qualify for Test & Go) I have to pay for a *second* hotel (i.e. two hotels) for Day One & Day Five?  I would've already prepaid seven days at the Sandbox hotel in Pattaya.

  4. Granted, this is just discussion of a proposal, but I wonder if it would be a reinstatement of the previous Test & Go program.  i.e. Only for a white list of specified countries, with an expanded choice of one-week sandboxes in places like Pattaya for those from non-white-listed countries.  Or, are they talking about Test & Go 2.0 with different provisions?

  5. I can log on to ssa.gov without using login.gov.  However, after 31-Dec-2021 I won't be able to log on to pbgc.gov without login.gov.  (Until then I can get a "read only" version of pbgc.gov)

My problem is that PBGC (Pension Guaranty Benefit Corporation) – who inherited my pension during my employer's bankruptcy – has not been able to figure out how to mail the 1099-R tax form that I need to file my taxes with the IRS.  I have *never* received one in the mail and rely on downloading it from the pbgc.gov web site.  As it stands now, I won't be able to file my taxes next year.

I talked to a pbgc.gov rep on the phone last week Monday and she acknowledged the problem I was facing.  She said it was a new system and they were "still ironing out the kinks" in it.  She said she would forward my issue to tech support and I would hear from them either that day or the next.  She said they would call me, but I said an e-mail would be fine, too, if they were unable to make international phone calls.  It has been twelve days since I talked to her.  No contact from tech support.  (Quelle surprise, non?)

It didn't help me with registering with mySSA.com, which still, AFAIK, requires a U.S. physical address (or similar), matched against credit reports. I'm reluctant to fib on this one as the IRS and SSA already know I've lived in Thailand for many years

It's the opposite for me:  I signed up for mySSA.org (I assume mySSA.com was a typo?) years ago and it still works with a direct log-on, although it does now offer logiin.gov log on.  (Can you enter the mySSA.org site using login.gov?)

this time i wont using the offical Tourst 60 day visa and will enter on Visa excempt

Can I still extent the excempt?

Be aware that the airline checking you in for your flights to Thailand will want/need to see a confirmed ticket departing Thailand within 30 days of your arrival.  They won't care if you are "planning to" extend to 60 days, so book your air ticket accordingly.

    aww c'mon it ain't that bad! ????

If I were only going to be there for one night, I'd be less picky. ????

My condo is in Jomtien, and so far, the closest SHA+ hotel on that site is the Citrus Grande Pattaya and the cheapest room is ฿15,000 for seven nights.  So, I'm hoping for something closer and cheaper.  <fingers crossed>

[edited to add:]  And now SHA+ hotels come up on agoda.com searching for "Pattaya SHA+" and "Jomtien SHA+" including  the Jomtien Longstay Hotel (SHA Plus+) for  ฿5,247.90 for seven nights.  MUCH better!  ????

that probably won't help you much as not all of the hotels have, or have published, one-day Test & Go rates. here's a start...

I like the private pool villa but it's out of town.

    Thanks

That list was not available 24 hours ago (I think that's when I checked that page last).  So far, there are only six hotels on the list, but I'll keep monitoring it to see if more (cheaper & closer to my condo) hotels come on board with the program.  I only want to go there at night to sleep to meet the letter of the law for Sandboxing.
