  1. Well, except that he volubly and repeatedly called for crowds to gather in Washington DC, made a speech outside the White House in which he named Pence, (conveniently a portable gallows was to hand, but then there are always a few of them knocking around on Capitol Hill) accused him of cowardice, and told the mob to march on the Capitol. He then watched it unfold on TV for several hours, making no attempt to stop it. So, nothing to do with him then, he is a sorely misunderstood person! Oh, and questioning the results, he did that alright; how many cases did he take to various courts, 60 odd? All dismissed for lack of evidence. Mind you, his crack legal team, Giuliani and that barking woman called "Sydney" managed to make Fred and Wilma Flintstone look like credible candidates for a Doctorate in Phillosophy - but that was no doubt all a misunderstanding as well.
  2. Yes very likely. It happened over a week ago. Not a very "fast track". still, released funds will allow equipments to be procured to streamline the process...
  3. Well it certainly will have "upped the number of hits" on his site, which can hardly have done him any harm! It also of course gave the usual self righteous enthusiasts a chance to salivate over imagined prospects of people being dragged from their homes and families and thrown into IDC or summarily deported!
  4. Well, let us be honest, cows are idle, all they do is mooch around all day chewing grass and farting. Bit like some of us actually...
  5. Milk seems to back on the shelves, interestingly with a number of unfamiliar (more local) brand labels. I buy mine from 7/11. Maybe they have gone for a more "decentralised" procurement process?
  6. I must confess, I had wondered at his recent, impetuous behaviour. Good luck, live it to the full, enjoy yourself and when you go, don't leave any stones unturned.
  7. I know lots of Fillipinas, they are jolly pretty, friendly and most affectionate. I enjoy their company, and love their style. Mind you, I used to teach in a Catholic school, and know many from Mass. They are more Catholic than the Pope! Mind you, there is something about a pretty Asian girl, peeking out from a mantilla. Unrequited obviously!
  8. I am a Christian (a practising Catholic); the far-right American Republican Christian psyche is about as far removed from the basic tenets of Our Lords teachings as it is possible to get. Put bluntly, they are in political, moral and religious terms, utterly barking!
  9. That should add a certain spice to the political jockeying amongst parties to get the relevant ministries. I seem to recall that Anutin, polymath that he is (medical man, pilot, waccy baccy farmer) also has a family background in construction, which will give him a concrete claim to be in charge!
  10. Indeed, but that does not make him responsible for planning or conducting either operation. I rather suspect that the first he knew of either was when both became public. As for fuelling the sense of impunity, those (disgraceful ) comments were made after the event, the military had already acted. The military don't give a tuppeny toss what the civilian politicians, in government or not, think. I am not defending what Thaksin is reported as having said. They were banal, I am saying he was not responsible for the actions.
  11. Well don't forget, he was a senior police officer, so understandably has a somewhat cavalier approach to the law!
  12. I suspect that they are hoping that getting Thaksin home, and the passage of time over the next couple of years will be enough to blunt public distaste for their shenanigans.
  13. So, essentially, your point is that little brown people aren't fit to have the vote! Well at least you have made your enlightened views on "realpolitik" clear! Next time don't forget to sign off with a rousing chorus of " the country belongs to us"!
  14. Well of course if he has been hospitalised, then he has to be in hospital in person - especially if he is sick. Ah, umh, silly old me!
  15. As far as the missing lawyers, Tak Bai or Kru Se victims are concerned, the military were behind their disappearances and deaths. In this country the military can ignore the government if they so choose, with impunity. Don't forget the military's central role in overthrowing both Shinewatra governments.
  16. Maybe, but it has to meet the voters eyes as well. Political subtlety is not their strongest point.
  17. I rather suspect that PTP as the lead party in this proposed coalition will drive their policies to make sure that any charter rewrite will cement their place in the power structure (Senate). In this they will find a willing ally in Bhumjaithai. Neither will be able to resist a permanent ( possibly together a majority) significant presence in the Senate, and with that will come a continuance, maybe even an extension of the Senate's powers. The power games are beginning - Thaksin and Newin!
  18. Yes, in the sense that the party which won the General Election has been forced out, and that a coalition which reflects the priorities of the established politicians and their party machines rather than reflecting the views of the electorate appears to be being established. Move Forward may be better off keeping away, and forming an active and vocal opposition.
  19. Can't imagine that happening here...
  20. I wonder, what weather Apps do members use? The one on my phone confidently predicts no precipitation for 120 minutes in my location, yet it has been honking down for the last hour or so, with no sign of stopping!
  21. Well, the Conservative Party have been in power for some 13 years, and could be viewed as having rather "run out of steam". Do bear in mind though that much of the internet commentary on British party politics owes much to the " it's not fair, it should be our turn by now" tendency, which rather ignored the fact that last time the Tories ( Conservative Party) won by a large majority.
  22. Given that Thailand has conscription, a very high proportion of younger Thai men are " former soldiers".
  23. Typically in the UK the General Election is held on a Thursday, Prime Minister appointed by sovereign on Friday early afternoon, cabinet appointed over the weekend and new government in place and up and running by Tuesday
  24. A ridiculous bulgist argument. That they self identify the bulges in their underpants as breasts should be enough!
