  1. Go and live in the sticks, even 7/11 don't deliver out here, and they're only 7km away!
  2. Having been given the runaround by the bank over a different service, I rang their customer service centre. An English speaker rang me back, listened to my problem, and said he would take it up with the branch who "cannot, you are foreigner." Within the hour he rang back, told me he had sorted the matter and gave me a reference number and name to quote. He must have put the fear of Buddha up the branch, as when I went in a couple of days later they were as nice as pie, and couldn't have been more helpful!

  5. I had the same problem. I took it apart, like elephant boy I suffer from" 'satiable curiosity ", and enjoy playing withmy tool kit. Unfortunately I am usually hopelessly incompetent at putting things back together again; anyway the rubber diaphragm against which you pump, pressurising the inside of the vessel will have perished and split, leading to the inadequate dribble which you describe. Technically one would describe it as "knackered". I am sure that if you tried hard enough you could source, or even manufacture a new diaphragm - an old inner tube, a sharp knife and an hour or so of jolly bodging! But given that Sinthanee knock new ones out for a couple of hundred Baht, probably a good investment for a couple more years of happy spurting!
  6. His old boiler....
  7. I think the most likely outcome. One proviso, the Senate holds the whip hand, without them the arithmetic does not add up. They will insist Prawit gets the PM seat. Anutin and Bhumjaithai will get some of the most important (lucrative) ministeries, Pheu Thai a share of ministeries; Thaksin will return to some sort of sham detention (house arrest/bail arrangement) and the promise of a pardon dangled like a carrot in front of a donkey to keep Pheu Thai on side.
  8. "13 years of Tory misrule" Harold Wilson, 1964.
  9. He is still serving? He must get a Bedford to get him round his BFT ( basic fitness test)!
  10. Frankly I don't give a monkey's whether you believe it or not. This is a discussion forum, not a court of law.
  11. "FORMER election commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said in a Facebook post that Move Forward Party should consider naming Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan as prime minister with this leading to him competing against Pheu Thai’s candidate Srettha Thavisin for the helm of the government, Naewna newspaper said." “Just thinking about it playfully is already fun,” This statement, from a former election commissioner, says much about the contempt which these establishment staffed government agencies have for the electorate, and the democratic process!
  12. I have a friend in the UK who is a barrister, specialising in human rights law and cases. Our friendship nearly foundered on the reefs and shoals of Brexit. She wrote a restaurant review on a local Facebook page, managing to blame Brexit for something or other, and I mentioned that they did an excellent gammon steak. After a few acerbic comments she had the grace to admit to seeing the funny side! Anyway, in recent years she has bought a very nice country cottage, and amassed a collection of half a dozen classic cars (the latest is a Railton - they don't come cheap!). The bulk of her work is publicly funded appearing on behalf of "asylum seekers" and other undocumented illegal immigrants.
  13. "Plung Sungkom Mai leader Chaowarit Kajornpongkirati said today (Wednesday) that his party will join a government with Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai at the core." "He is confident that the new government will be able to command about 260-270 House seats, Chaowarit said." His one seat won't make much difference. Prawit however will bring the seats which will give the majority - along of course with the Senate. Now the Senate may stipulate that Prawit gets the big seat - ministeries (cash) will keep Bhumjaithai in the coalition, and getting Thaksin back and then waiting on a pardon should keep Pheu Thai in line. Jobs a good un!
  14. Spent the budget on bomb/golf ball detector wands...
  15. "Pheu Thai tells Prayut administration to stop shuffling officials". To which the response was: "Listen matey, we are in charge, we will continue to be in charge; if you really want your bossman and his floozie sister back then belt up and don't rock the boat!"
  16. A "national government" is formed when all parties (more or less) come together to govern in response to an external threat to the country. So for example, the UK had a national government during the economic crisis created by the "Great Depression", and again whilst the country was fighting to survive during the Second World War. Thailand's current difficulties are entirely due to the actions of it's own politicians. There is no external threat to the country. Three months ago ( !) they held an election. The parties which won it formed a coalition. The political classes have, in conjunction with a Senate which was created and answers to the coup makers, and various agencies and courts similarly controlled by the current government (which let us not forget owes its existence to, and is the direct result of a good old fashioned coup, bolstered by a rigged constitution confirmed by a gerrymandered referendum) have chosen to ignore that election. The crisis is that the election results are being ignored, the solution is not a national government, which is de facto the government emphatically rejected at the election. The solution is to honour the election result.
  17. That was very nearly three months ago. In the past.
  18. He has given up the politics, after all, the whole getting elected bit proved a bit of a non starter. He is sticking to the wielding power bit. Until the "Prem" slot on the Privy Council is his, expect to see more photos of a dynamic, suspiciously dark haired leader out and about.
  19. Prayut's government is continuing on as before. Why is that? Because it fully anticipates that whilst the General at the top may change, the rest of the government, it's cronies and what pass for policies will continue as before.
  20. For crying out loud. The FBI went to his house to serve a warrant. He had made a number of posts stating that he owned firearms and threatening to kill federal officials, including the President. He met them brandishing a weapon. In just about every country, ( including the UK) if he had done that armed policemen would have been present when the warrant was served, and if he produced a firearm he would have been shot.
  21. The foreigner was skateboarding in an airport terminal. He was being a plonker.
  22. The price is getting Thaksin back. That is the only thing that they are interested in, and for that they will pay any price. Collapse in support, loss of credibility, lack of democracy accountability are all bridges to cross once he is back.
  23. Yes. As I said the newspaper reports of the election results ( goodness me, it was two months ago) are now fish and chip wrappings. The powers that be have entirely disregarded them and are busily constructing the government they want. The electorate and the vote are entirely ignored.
  24. Fair point, but now he has swung into action, perhaps he should stay on to see the job through?
